I feel totally ripped off. Spent $1400 on lenses for one pair and new glasses with lenses on another pair. Progressives on both. I don't know who cuts his lenses but they recut mine 5 times and I still can't see out of either pair. They made me feel like I was the crazy one. I asked them to replace the lenses with my old script and they even screwed that up. One lens was brown and the other was grey tinted. I can't make this up. I do NOT recommend Shettle Eye Care and wish that I could get my money back. I just made an appointment elsewhere to get another exam and get new lenses made. What a waste of time and money. read more

The practice was clean and organized. Ivette ran my diagnostic tests and filled in my chart until Dr. Shettle came to take a closer look. Ivette was very friendly, smiley and upbeat. She wiped everything down thoroughly in front of me so I knew it was all sanitary! I think she's also bilingual. The practice has a separate hand washing and contact station that felt clean. Dr. Shettle was attentive and paid close attention to figuring out what was going on with my contact lens without rushing along. He even offered a complimentary check up appointment the next week to make sure we got to the bottom of things. He has a calm and friendly nature, explained things thoroughly (I always appreciate that!), and was patient. read more

Why on Earth doesn't this place have 5 stars?!? I'm telling you that this is seriously the best experience I've ever had visiting a vision provider. I walked in and was immediately greeted. The staff was super friendly and helpful, especially when trying to pick frames. I can be a very indecisive person and they helped me make my final decision by offering expert opinions. What's the reason I needed that expert opinion, you say? Well because I didn't expect to walk in to a plethora of options consisting of all the top designers. You name it, I'll bet they have it. Dior, Kate Spade, Tiffany and Co., Prada, Burberry, Dolce and Gabbana, Ray Ban...I could keep going but I'll spare you. Just know that I was IMPRESSED with the selection. I wasn't even there for an eye exam but yet everyone was still so friendly and accommodating. Even the doctor himself came out and chatted with me briefly. There was a hiccup with my insurance provider and they made a phone call and sat on a dreadfully long hold just to make sure I was able to get what I came for - new frames! When it comes to eye exams, I've historically given my business to large retailers like LensCrafters and Innovision. I don't know why I never thought of supporting a local family owned and operated business. This will be my new optometrist. And when I go pick up my new specs, I'll take some pictures of the place for you guys to see just how amazing it is! I really can't say enough good things. Family owned eye center. Great, personalized service. Have been going here for years. Dr Shettle knows his stuff and takes time with each patient. They have a good selection of glasses. They research your insurance so you get the max benefit of your plan. They are good with kids too. Very family friendly. He has pics of his own family all over. His bull dog greets you at the door. They take Eye Med and other insurance. They also have contacts. read more

Dr. Shettle insisted that I should buy my glasses through him, I did not as they were more expensive than I could afford. the prescription is not right as my vision is now quite fuzzy for the distance so my new glasses can only be worn when I am reading or doing close work. If I say anything to him he will say it's the lense. I am very frustrated and now will have to wait untI'll next year!! I am truly not pleased and won't return. read more

Still love these guys! So personable and welcoming. I had to come in for my own eye exam and it went very quickly. I enjoyed conversations with everyone there and the exam went painlessly and pleasantly. Great people and office! I felt no pressure from anyone there to purchase anything or add anything on to my exam. And I am so bad with names, I need to fix this ASAP and learn everyone's names there! Staff is top notch and Dr. Shettle is wonderful. Very honest and thorough and gave me great advice. Very large variety of frames for everyone. I'm a Producer/Production Executive from Malibu, CA. When I came to St. Pete, FL (18) months ago for Pre-Production on several Studio Features I had no idea that I would end up being here indefinitely due to the Pandemic! I'm extremely health conscience, and was concerned re: not being able to get home to LA for my periodic exams! (2) years without an eye exam... NOT GOOD! I reached out to Dr. Shettle's office, and was thrilled that they not only accepted my Motion Picture Benefits, but would get me in for an exam ASAP! Well... what an awesome experience! My exam lasted almost (3) hours, and was incredibly comprehensive! Dr. Shettle was very thorough, very patient, and extremely knowledgeable! Courtnee, Brian, and the entire staff were Great! SO grateful for Dr. Shettle and the entire staff! I had a very painful recurrent corneal erosion during the middle of the pandemic when a lot of places were closed or not seeing new patients. So grateful that Dr. Shettle was taking new patients and willing to see me on urgent short notice (multiple times!!). The advice he gave me to manage the corneal erosion has been working so well and I am eternally grateful!! Thank you so, so, so much!!! Mr. Shettle is patronizing, even at first meeting, in addition to being arrogant at times with his patients. His dispensary doesn't handle difficult prescriptions well, they just want to upsell to the highest cost lenses, and the frames are pretty pricey to begin with. Not everyone who walks through his door is a schmuck. I recommend going somewhere else, unless you want to spend a lot, have a simple prescription, and enjoy getting a crappy response. read more

Great place for your eyes! I have been going there for my eye exams and any issues I have had for 4 years. Dr. Shettle is great and fun conversationalist! I wouldn't go anywhere else. The staff is great! They are very helpful with picking out new glasses and give honest feedback! Great selection and if there are any issues with glasses they help to fix it. ** Beware** This place tried to scam me. Called to order contacts (I had been there the year before and they had my prescription) and the man on the phone tried to tell me my insurance didn't re-up in January, it re-up after one year after using your benefits and said I would have to wait until then to use my benefits and asked for my credit card to buy my contact lenses. I called my insurance company and they said my benefits re-up on the 1st of January, DUH. Called this office again and a woman picked up this time. I told her what had happened when I called earlier and she seemed horrified and apologized. Don't go here. Even if this hadn't happened, I wasn't impressed with the eye doctor or the rest of the staff. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Shettle and his store Shettle Family Eye Care & Eye Wear. I bought a beautiful pair of frames their that I adore. And their selection can't be beat. It's an impressively large variety of high-quality designer frames. (To be fair, these were a bit pricier than other places I'd looked, but since I tend to wear my glasses for at least one or two years before switching, personally, I didn't mind the slightly extra cost. And their frames were far lovelier than any frames I saw elsewhere.) I didn't have my current prescription with me, which was from a different eyeglass store I'd gone to a couple of years ago, so Dr. Shettle gave me a vision test right then and there at no charge. Was incredibly convenient. I plan to keep Dr. Shettle as my permanent eye doctor and return there when I need new frames. read more

This place wasted my time! I honestly cannot believe how anyone can run a business this way... I made an appointment as a new patient, came in on time for my appointment, and was told very rudely to "go sit down- someone will be right with you"... Am I a dog or your child? Who talks to someone like that? Especially someone that's paying for a service!!! I sat there for 15 minutes and no one even acknowledged I was there. I left and will take my business elsewhere. This place charges twice as much, has rude staff, and is very unorganised. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else. read more

Cant say enough good things about Dr. Shettle. The entire Shettle Family Eye care staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. The office is nice and clean, easy to locate, and spacious. Waiting time was minimal and the waiting room is very comfy. Dr. Shettle really tried to find out any problems i was having with my eyes currently, as well as spending time to make sure my perscription was perfect. The people here are incredibly nice. They have fair prices , comparable to the big stores. My elderly mother need a repair on her glasses and not only did they repair the glasses but they didn't charge me for it. I will never go to another eye doctor. read more
