An outstanding experience!!! Definitely found my new eye doctor in St. Pete. Dr. Amanda Geary is so kind, intelligent, skilled, and patient. She answered all of my questions and gave me an extremely thorough eye exam. I arrived to a new, clean office and was offered beverages while I waited (I had a seltzer but they even offered beer, which was a nice touch). I loved that they use the most up-to-date technology and that I was able to see my entire eyeball on a computer screen! They also have the technology to check your retina without dilating your eyes, but they note it can only see 85%, so if you're a new patient or have a strong prescription like I do, dilation is still recommended. However, I imagine other patients who are just slightly nearsighted with no other issues could easily use their machine and forego dilation, which is great. I've always wanted to go to an optometrist with this new tech, but never found one until now. After the technology, we did a typical eye exam for a thorough evaluation. While waiting for my eyes to dilate (I chose to do this as a new patient and as someone who is very myopic), I met with Matthew, the technician, who walked me through what my vision benefits would cover. (When I made the appointment online, they graciously called to confirm that my vision insurance was in network, which I appreciated- also loved the online scheduling!) I initially was just going to explore getting transition lenses to wear outside, but then I learned that my insurance also covers a chunk of new frames and they had such nice options, so I decided to browse for those, as well. Matthew also resized my glasses (which were too loose) for free! He also didn't push me to purchase anything, but showed me my options and marked down my favorites for when I came back. Overall, I had an excellent experience. Dr. Geary ensured I had a clean bill of eye health and suggested some hydrating drops for my eyes that definitely stare at screens too long. She quelled any eye fears I had and was very collaborative in discussing my eye health and contact lens wishes. I couldn't ask for anyone better! read more

The last time I got my Rx, it was with one of those corporate chains - Optical Outlet. 'Opt-Out's (lol) overall exam, Rx, and quality of glasses all combined scores low on my satisfacto-meter. It's not even that much cheaper tbh. A year later, I find First Sight (walking distance). Dr Geary was so kind, knowledgeable, and thorough. I'm glad to know for sure that my eyes are super healthy, and that my Rx has only drifted a little from where it was. Working with Matthew behind the front desk, we were able to create complex precision for my new glasses! I was so happy with their service, I got another set of my old frames re-lensed. This has been one of the great experiences I have had in healthcare - especially vision care - in my many years of going to medical professionals. I am new to the St. Pete area and have changed health insurance providers and was looking for new vision care locally and found Dr. Geary and her team at First Sight over in the Grand Central District a few weeks ago. Wow. Just wow. This is by far the best optometrist I've ever been to. The location is convenient with plenty of parking. The office is modern, clean, and offers complementary beverages ranging from fancy coffees to healthy sodas and even beer! (I KNOW!) Everyone working there is at the top of their game. First Sight is absolutely amazing!! I wanted to wait to leave a review until I had my glasses for a week . First, I HATE anything by my eyes or watching people do things to their eyes (contacts, makeup, etc.) so I've put off having an eye exam because of that. The team at First Sight made me feel so comfortable and the exam was a breeze. Second, I needed a small prescription for both distance and reading. The team gave me the option to wait to get glasses until there was more of a need, so clearly, they are about the PATIENT not the $$. I opted to get glasses, and the gentleman that helps with that was so patient and kind while I tried to determine which glasses I wanted. He gave me all the options first then his recommendation based on my need, and most of the time, his recommendation was NOT the most expensive, so again, cares more about the person and not sales. Now, I've had my glasses (progressives) for a week. I love them and I'm so glad I decided to move forward with glasses. My eyes are less fatigued and my headaches have disappeared.
