I went to Scott Taylor with a broken molar, hoping it would not require an implant. A lesser dentist might have recommended that, but Dr. Taylor carefully assessed my tooth and recommended applying a crown. He was able to perform that procedure in his office in one visit. He prepared the broken tooth, and, using the latest technology, created the proper-fitting crown. He set it on my tooth, carefully adjusting at every step. I needed a second opinion on a tooth with a more holistic approach. My Chinese medicine Doctor recommended this office and from the moment I walked in I was pleasantly amazed by the environment. The clean calm environment with books instead of TV. The staff was so pleasant you could just tell immediately that you were in good hands. When the dentist took a look at what was going on in my mouth he was honest and thoughtful about the treatment options I had available to me. ((Granted I have a lot of anxiety about the dental industry asking me to do unnecessary procedures and charging me up the you know what.)) This was not his intention. He gave me good sound advice and a good sound treatment plan to help me feel better about my oral health. Leah the hygienist was a delightful experience. I needed a cleaning and she was very helpful with making sure I got the proper cleaning I needed and I even booked a short term second one to make sure the job was done well before my extraction to come. That is until I walked into Dr. Taylor's office and got shamed for not taking care of my teeth while I was caring for two people with dementia and working a full-time job. Zero compassion or professionalism. If you want to be traumatized by your dentist, this is the place. Apparently I'm not the only one he has treated like this. If you want a real review, look up comments in Facebook on him. Many many people are in the same boat as I I simply do not understand why people would go into public practice to help the public, when all they care about is money and greed. It has taken me two years to revisit this experience and write a review. The absolute most bizarre experience I've ever had at a doctor's office. I see another patient had the exact same encounter I had. I asked basic, fundamental questions as a new patient concerned with two decade old root canals and he erupted in anger and belittled me. He asked why I was there if I was going to interrupt him and refute his advice (objectively untrue). I left in tears and I couldn't talk about this experience for a while. He came out to the parking lot and attempted to make amends after I abruptly left 10 minutes into the appointment. I have never ever walked away from a professional's office crying! I had seen Scott Taylor 5 years earlier for extensive teeth work and he was very nice then, but when I made an appointment for tooth pain he treated me like I was wasting his time. He applied cold to the painful tooth and said it looked fine and then suggested I was clenching my teeth and did I have stress in my life? I said with Covid going on I think we are all a bit stressed. I also said since the election was over I had a lot less stress in my life. The guard he was suggesting for clenching was $500. This being a lot of money I suggested maybe I should try a cheap version from CVS to make sure I would sleep with this on, and not find it on the floor in the morning. He got agitated by this and said he would put in my files I refused treatment. I was taken back and when I mentioned maybe x-raying the tooth he looked at me and said "so you want an x-ray?" I said not necessarily but since I hadn't seen him in 5 years maybe it would be a good idea to check the tooth. I live in Monterey so for me to come to him was a 2 1/2 hour trip each way. At this point tears began to run down my face and I said "well then I guess we are finished" and he agreed. The receptionist was very kind when she saw I was crying. I paid my $98 bill and left crying my way back to the car. Dr. Taylor called me five minutes later and tried to apologize but at this point I was angry. The damage had been done. I have never been treated like this ever! I should have walked out and not paid my bill but I was in total shock. I later thought maybe he was a Trump supporter and was angry that Trump did not win the election? But, all I said was I was I less stressed now that the election was over. I don't know what triggered him but he was totally unprofessional and I will never go back to him. I was able to get an appointment in Carmel two days later and had a very professional and thorough checkup with another dentist. This dentist thinks I may be having sinus issues and wants to exhaust all other possible issues before thinking about a mouth guard. He also checked my bite, my jaw, did an x-ray and many other things and at this point doesn't think I have a clenching issue. Right now at his suggestion I am trying some sinus medicine and this seems to be helping. All I can say is I had a horrible experience with Dr. Taylor and he should not have charged me for the 15 minutes I was in his office and treated me like crap! We all have bad days or other things going on in our lives but to leave a dentist office crying was totally unacceptable. I do not recommend Dr. Taylor! read more

I went in for a second opinion for my daughter and a consultation for a tooth extraction on myself. By far the best experience that we both have had. Dr. Taylor explains everything that needs to be done before and during your procedures. He is knowledgeable, gentle with your mouth, kind, funny and it is obvious he enjoys what he does. So all this is great but he also is just a cool guy! We all have good and bad days, and sometimes life throws us curve balls! Lastly if he doesnt take your insurance his front desk will bill them for you! With me this is the case so I pay and a week or two later the insurance check is sent to me directly. At first I was nervous about this process, but they virtually do all the submissions and everything for you! When he is not at his practice you can find him walking around Morro Bay supporting local businesses! He has two children which I have watched grow up. Over the years I have seen them helping with his practice on many occasions so this is a true family business! "Seriously the best cavity filling experience ever". Who likes having a cavity filled? No one! I had several of my silver fillings removed and Dr. Taylor replaced them with composite resin fillings (tooth colored). The office staff is warm and friendly, I always felt so welcome. I was lead to a room and given a blanket and some glasses. I had a window and could hear the sea otters in the distance. Dr. Taylor always made sure I was doing fine during the procedure. Couldn't even feel the shot! He gave an option for a hand signal if I was uncomfortable at any time. It was important to me that the mercury removal was done with precautions that protect my health. I felt that Dr Taylor and his assistant were extremely thorough and took great pains to ensure my health and safety along with their own. I highly recommend this office! read more

I've been going to Dr. Taylor for over five years for cleanings and exams which has been great but just recently had a Zirconia implant placed and am super stoked! As always, the office was clean, calm and comfortable and I was able to relax during my treatment knowing I was in skilled hands. I am very disappointed in my treatment at the office a couple of days ago. I had been met with a new Dental Hygienist who did the usual treatment. Checked my gums and gave me a cleaning, which has been $99 for the past 4 years since I have been going there. When i went to check out the cost is now $180. A whole $100 more? So when i was stunned and asked why I was immediately responded to with an attitude and said it was more because of the current situation with COVID and the exam. I asked what exam? The exam that the hygienist asked for Dr. Taylor to come in for less than 30 second to look at my gums, which i did not feel necc? Um no thanks. That is not an exam. Note: when you raise the prices in any situation you should be told that when making an appointment (especially if it is $100 more) and when you are going to charge someone for a 30 second exam you should be told then too. When Dr. Taylor heard me ask questions he came out and told the receptionist it was ok to charge the original price. She still charged me $153 (not $99) and i gave her $160 and she said with another attitude that she did not have change. So i said thank you and left. I cried on the way out because i felt as if i was treated miss fairly, and then made felt like an asshole for questioning the price. Please note: this has been a hard time on everyone including business and i understand that but I had lost all three of my job to COVID and was not getting unemployment and I had saved up 5 months for that appointment. I ended up having to use my food money for the week to pay the remainder and now just doing what I can. If i was not moving away because of situations out of my control, I would not return to this office. Luckily that was my last appointment. I hope the office can see that behavior like that is not appropriate and they are in business because people care about their health but with treatment like that who would want to return. read more

My family and I will go nowhere else. I originally found Dr. Taylor because I wanted my silver fillings removed. His office is one of only a handful in the state that uses the full and precise protocol for doing this procedure and I felt completely safe. Although he is not specifically a pediatric dentist I also needed to take my children in for unique procedures and appreciated that when my elementary-aged daughter needed a buried baby tooth extracted he patiently and gently worked with her, after which she told me she did not feel ANYTHING, including the needle, and smiled on her way out the door. As I am very interested in treating health issues with a natural/alternative approach, I visted Dr. Taylor on the recommendation of a local. They were very helpful and accomodating and made arrangements for me to be seen right away. The office is clean and modern and has a great feel. Dr. Taylor was very knowlegable and engaging and didn't make me feel stupid for asking questions about what types of materials were going into my mouth. DONT SEE DR. TAYLOR! I am so upset with myself for not leaving his place of business. I will begin with the receptionist. She had zero compassion and zero knowledge of the dental industry. Compassion is something that we are born with and it is up to us to use it. This should have been my first red flag, but I was in such discomfort that I decided to stay. Never once did she give eye contact, never once did she ever give a warm smile, again zero compassion. As I was thinking of leaving right then and there Dr. Taylor's wife walked in and she was warm and kind. So I assumed if she was kind then Dr. Taylor would be extremely kind as well. I was so very wrong he was not kind he had zero compassion, he was as cold as cold as ice can be. He kept looking at his wife. I wasn't too sure if my questions were dumb if I should just walk away but my husband kept looking at me telling me that everything was okay. I thought perhaps this was my fault because I was asking too many questions. I just did not understand toothache I've never had one. He couldn't do anything that day he just took X-rays, and gave me a prescription for the tremendous discomfort I was in. The day of the procedure I had questions , he stomped out of the room an said, "let me grab a piece of paper and pencil so I can show you "!!! in a very condescending way. I looked at my husband and I asked if we should just leave my husband said no let's listen to what he has to say. I decided to go with the procedure again very unkind doctor that was working on my mouth for an hour not not one sense of compassion. I have been in the medical field for 25 years and I have assisted doctors with zero compassion and I would refuse to assist them. Writing this yelp I still get this knot in my throat so upset with myself that I went ahead and allowed permitted for one person to treat me so bad. I write to you so you can listen to me do not see this doctor you will regret it. The only good thing that I can say about this office that it was clean I do agree with that. And that is extremely important to being in a nice clean facility. But as a human being to another human being the first obligation that we have to ourself is to be good to ourselves and that means full circle. Do not allow nor permit anyone to ever miss treat you. I felt that I was an inconvenience for this doctor. I have a Delta PPO insurance I paid this doctor over $500 in cash. My insurance is one of the best. It will pay over $1,000 but I would have paid more for a doctor that was worth it!!! Don't go to a doctor if you feel have any red flags walkaway!!! Be strong enough to walk away, as I should have don't let pain overtake your judgment. read more

I am so grateful to Dr. Taylor and his staff for their services. Leah is an amazing hygienist (best and most though cleaning I have ever had) and Jamie, who works in the front is so welcoming and friendly. My first experience with them was with my children and he offered me a fabulous referral for a children's dentist. I had a good idea I was in the right place based on all the people that were coming in bringing fresh flowers for the office and other gifts during my short time there. Due to a history of some dental trauma of my own I'm very adamant about finding biological dentists who practice holistic dentistry. I knew from just walking into the office I was in the right place. The entire atmosphere is comfortable and friendly. The waiting room is very cozy with a great book selection. Having put off a trip to the dentist for far too long I have found everything about my experiences in this office to be above and beyond. Dr. Taylor takes his time to explain things with patience and openness. I actually wasn't aware a trip to the dentist could be so, well let's just say not only trauma-free, but even enjoyable. His rates are incredibly reasonable. I had a root resorption issue and was so grateful to be in his capable care. I heard a story from a friend about her case of the same with a canine as well and realized how lucky I was he was so conscientious and knowledgeable. His approach to dentistry is refreshingly. I'm so grateful to have had dental experiences in his office that now don't leave me in a state of fear and dread. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Just before Christmas 2013, I had gone in to have four toxic (military added) mercury fillings removed and filled back in with non-mercury ones. Him and I had some good discussions and he was very friendly and knowledgable. Because of how unsafe keeping the fillings would have been, my wife and I decided having them taken out, despite our financial strain, was a top priority. Understanding our plight, Dr. Taylor went ahead and, out of his own good will, decided not to charge me for the 200 dollar plus procedure! What a truly amazing gift! Dr. Taylor has been my dentist for 4 years. I believed him to be an honest, ethical, kind person but I was wrong. I had all of my 12 amalgam fillings removed by him, & one molar pulled out that was a root canal gone bad. First, let me say I'm a true believer in the holistic way of dentistry, my family & I eat paleo, we are healthy & active. All of these cavities were as a teenager when my diet was bad. I knew I just needed to replace the mercury fillings with something more biocompatible. Dr. Taylor seemed like a smart choice & all was going well until I started having problems with my fillings that he did. They were always too high & needed many adjustments to feel comfortable. Dr. Taylor would tell me " if you keep needing adjustments it must be your tooth, & you probably need a crown or root canal. My teeth were fine, the fillings were so off. But he was always insisting that it was me not his fillings that were the problem. He once told me how i was so in tune with body, which later him & his wife turned against me & said I was just sensitive & that was why my fillings were still hurting after months. I am not sensitive, I actually have a very high pain tolerance but when your bite is wrong & your fillings are painful, that does not mean your sensitive. I would not trust this man whatsoever. He comes across very nice at first, but if you question him in anyway he gets defensive, & very cold. He will never treat you the same. When I had my molar taken out by him it took him almost 4 hrs & again he blamed my tooth saying the roots were a strange shape. An oral surgeon would never take that long or charge at much as he did $350 to take out a tooth. So now I have spent so much more money because of him, every filling he's done I've had to have either redone or adjusted costing me so much most importantly time. One of the fillings he did a huge piece broke off just 3 months after having it done, dr Taylor wouldn't fix it, he said the filling is too big you just need a crown, he said if I do another filling it will happen again. So I went to another dentist & he did another filling & said the old filling wasn't done well at all that it was too big, & it had worn down the molar below it. Then I received a letter in the mail from Jaymie dr. Taylors wife & a check reimbursing me for the cost of the filling saying they just wanted me to not have to make a decision based on money for my tooth basically saying that they don't want me to come back & I should go to another dentist to fix the problems caused by Dr. taylors terrible dental fillings. Well if that's the case they should reimburse me for all the fillings that are still causing me problems, & needing adjustments. I just spent 260 at Dr. Kim's to have 3 of dr. Taylors fillings adjusted. It takes these dentists 5 min to do something & they charge you hundreds of dollars. So greedy. So save yourself time & money please go to someone else & if my story can help one person I will be happy. read more
