At the shelter she came from, only one person was able to walk her, and without Mark stepping up, she likely would have been euthanized. The moment Kailey arrived from Connecticut, Mark didn't hesitate. He immediately started working with her, patiently earning her trust and learning her quirks, her fears, and the situations that stressed her. What seemed like overwhelming challenges to others never became obstacles for him. Kailey had endured terrible abuse as a puppy, including being thrown down a flight of stairs, leaving her with deep trust issues. Thanks to Mark's patience, compassion, and understanding, she has completely transformed. Today she is living her best life and is now permanently boarding with him, where she is happy, safe, and loved. Mark doesn't just train dogs--he gives them a second chance. Nearly two months later, he told us he couldn't. Throughout the process, he was rude, unprofessional, and condescending. The night we called to bring our dog back home after he refused to provide the contact information for the person he planned to leave her with, we noticed he was slurring his words. Because of how concerned we were, we asked for confirmation by text of when he would be returning our dog in case there were any issues. His response only added to our concerns. I would not recommend this trainer based on our experience. It's also worth noting that there has been a sudden increase in 5-star reviews in the weeks since Birdie came home, which stood out to us because we hadn't seen that level of review activity before.

I can't even express how glad I am that we found Dawn! Her training style and personality fit perfectly with ours. Dawn has a special gift and connection with dogs, our Bentley (8 month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) absolutely loved her. Everything about her training made sense, from start to finish, as she explained (and re-explained, if necessary). She bonded with our Bentley, he came to respect what she was teaching and he was willing to please and obey when she was with him. Dawn gave us homework each week, with handouts as reminders, and did a recap at the beginning of the following week. After training hours, she even sent us a video of her demonstrating the process with her own dog once when we couldn't quite get a certain technique. We didn't always do our homework 100%, but Dawn was able to move forward and teach Bentley the next lessons. We have a lot to learn still and it is a daily learning process for both dog and owner, but are thrilled that we met Dawn. I am already considering bringing her back for a recap and tweaking in a few months. I highly recommend Dawn and Coast Dogs, no reservations whatsoever. There aren't enough words for how AMAZING this facility is and has been for us!!! We welcomed a new…read morebaby in December. To prepare for this we brought our 3 dogs to be trained in November. When we got them back they went from completely untrained to trained in every way! Door manners, in the car, on the leash, and other basic commands, you name it! They were crazy about food and now they will sit in front of food and wait to eat it when they are told. It's amazing! We then brought them back for a tune up when our son was born. It was awesome knowing they were with people who knew them and loved them. Our dog Charlie ran and jumped in the lake immediately! Happy as can be. A huge shoutout to Derrick! When our son was born 4 weeks early he went out of his way to pick our dogs up when we were stuck at the hospital. He truly loves the dogs and cares about the families. You can tell this is his passion and it shows through his work! Lastly, Anthony has been fantastic to work with throughout too! Due to him and Derrick we will continue bringing our dogs back here when we need boarding knowing they are in the BEST hands. This was not the right program for our bichon mix. Our main reason for seeking a board and train…read moreprogram was help with potty training which means the trainer needs to place them on a schedule. This did not happen. Our dog came home with a scab on his neck from the E-collar which has made me choose not to even keep up with this form of training. If the collar doesn't hurt them then why does our dog have a visible injury on his neck. He came home more anxious and trembling which he never did before when we reprimanded him. I believe our dog was one of many dogs and they should not have taken on more than one dog at a time. This program was a waste of $2600 and our dog spent 18 days away from us only to come home not potty trained with no schedule. The owner Daniel was not apologetic and defensive of his program. He never apologized for my dog sustaining an injury from their e-collar usage. I absolutely do not recommend this type of training for small, companion dogs. Our dog is stubborn because the breed is notorious for that but he should have been sent home if he wasn't responding well to training. Instead the collar was mis-used and I don't trust anything related to this method or company any more.
