Wanting to trace the family tree and fancy finding out, who do you think you are? Then this is the place to come. Centrally located in the old town - along from Maxie's on the top level above Victoria St, all sorts of documents are available here.
Advisor's are volunteers, but can provide plenty of information as to how to go about tracing the family tree and have all sorts of helpful booklets and papers to get you started. They also have some family tree's which have been traced and mapped out already from previous visitors so it might also be worth checking these out too.
Cost is £25 for annual membership or you can pay I think for between £5-£7 per day so if you wanted to keep coming to use their library of family histories, computers, microfiche, parish records and census data then the £25 investment would be worth it. They also run conferences and seminars - the next one is on Scots who have emigrated so they also have shipping logs if you are living abroad and wanting to trace your Scottish roots.
A nice wee resource and helpful staff - worth a visit if this is your thing! read more
