It looked like a good number of people settled for street parking. Loved the room layout. Two queen beds, clean carpet, everything felt fresh. The streaming on the TV was a huge win for me - no laptop gymnastics - and I appreciated the hidden cabinet setup for the mini-fridge and microwave. The bathroom was stocked with towels and the shower included the signature dispensers, but my big gripe, no fan. So it got steamy fast with a hot shower. Also, this is my very first experience where there is only half a roll of toilet paper on the holder. The bigger problem though, early morning dumpster pickups. Saturday around 5:50 and again Monday around 6:10. Loud and long enough to fully wake me up. Still, the location's quiet otherwise and the overall stay was pretty nice. My kiddo always enjoys most Marriott stays. There also seems to be an open artificial turf area on the North side of the hotel - as a part of the development attached to the hotel and businesses - where kids can play or where events can be held. It looks as if there are a growing number of shops. I'd come back - but I'd love if they could push trash pickup to later in the day.

We found the hotel to be very affordable and the rooms were quite large. We also really enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub since it rained most of the time we were here. The hot tub and pool were very clean and the hot tub was the hottest one I have ever used, which was so relaxing. Worth every penny. We also enjoyed the breakfast which was free included with the price of the room. Cute, cute! I made a Texas waffle and had some yogurt on the side. Coffee and hot water for tea was always available in the lobby, which was also nice. We were extremely tired after our flight and travels and a hotel graciously allowed us to check in early which we were grateful for. Cons the only negative was the Wifi situation. We were given a Wi-Fi passcode, but I have AT&T and even logging onto the hotel's Wifi, which I would normally never do, I could not get any reception on my iPhone, not with their Wi-Fi nor with my cellular so strange. It wasn't that big of a problem for us, but it would be majorly inconvenient if you were trying to do remote work. Hotel is located right on the feeder road of the highway, but we requested a room towards the back so we did not hear any road noise. The hotel graciously accommodated our request. The hotel was clean, getting off of the elevator and walking to our room, the hallway is carpeted, but each footstep creaks like you're walking in an old wooden attic. Walking into our room, I noticed the door jam or the door is crooked, resulting in a small triangle space above the door where I believe someone could see into the room, to be honest, I was exhausted and concerned about having surgery the next day, so I didn't test it. The room was clean, huge, had tile floor throughout and had a postage stamp of a tv on the wall. The tv had apps on it including Netflix, Pandora, YouTube and like three others I wasn't familiar with. None of the tv apps worked and I didn't call to address it. The bathroom door was also crooked and wouldn't stay open. Even though the bathroom had a vent in there, the bathroom stayed hot the whole night. The ac in the room worked, but didn't cool the room. We normally keep our home at 74°. We had to set the thermostat to 62° just to make it through the night. The bed had two sheets for linens. One sheet was thicker, but I absolutely wouldn't call it a comforter. I pulled the linens out of the closet for the sofa bed, but the blanket looked used to me. I requested two blankets from the front desk which they readily gave me. I normally try to leave positive reviews wherever I go, because I know most people focus on doing negative reviews. I haven't done a negative review in years, there were just so many issues they shouldn't be overlooked. Thanks.

The room was super quiet and you couldn't hear any road noise. The tv had a streaming option where you can sign in to your accounts and pickup where you left off. It signed you out automatically when you exited it. The breakfast in the morning down stairs was very good and tasty and the area was very clean. The room was very nice, comfortable, and cozy, and the bathroom lighting was warm and pleasant. However, there are two things that could definitely be improved. First, the conditioner in the bathroom seemed spoiled -- it looked like decomposed milk, so we could not use it. Second, breakfast was not included, and when I asked the night before about the breakfast hours, we were told it was served until 11:00 AM. The next morning, however, we were told the schedule had changed, even though the paper with the hotel information had not been updated. At 10:50 AM, they told us that if we wanted, we could pay for lunch instead. Honestly, I thought it was a joke.

While the public spaces of the hotel look good, the 2 guest rooms we saw had issues. Given the mix of glowing and bad reviews I saw on the hotel's own website I have to wonder if the place has some rooms that are much nicer than others. This LaQuinta looks nice on the outside and is located near several other hotels, including a Hampton where we've previously stayed. We may have booked this place because it has a guest laundry... but I don't recall. There are a couple of restaurants within easy walking distance but there are no sidewalks to get there. This hotel and others in the area seemed pretty empty on the weekend we stayed. This wasn't surprising given Winnie isn't a touristy area and spring break was ending. We could not get into the first room we were assigned. The key cards didn't work at all. After being reprogrammed, they still didn't work. The afternoon manager tried her universal key and couldn't get in. The second room we were assigned, on the 2nd floor, took several tries to get in. The key cards didn't operate smoothly. Once we got in, the room smelled very strongly of disinfectant. We could hear a crying baby across the hall. So this room was a no-go as well. At that point I asked for a refund and we were told the room was booked through a 3rd party. While I wasn't sure that was true, we decided to try another room. This time, the card keys both worked. The first floor room was quiet and seemed clean, but showed wear and tear to walls and the floor. There was an odor similar to the 2nd room, but a bit less prominent. We tolerated it, and the 2nd night seemed better. Fortunately, the king bed was comfortable. The nightstands in our room each had 2 110V outlets, and there were also outlets on the sconces above. There was an alarm clock on one nightstand. We neglected to check it, and it went off at 6 am on our first morning. The TV worked well, and the room furnishings looked relatively new. The bathroom had a tub shower. Liquid toiletries in the shower were older bottles of Dove brand, but there was no shower gel... just 2 shampoo bottles and 1 of conditioner. There was a small bar of soap for handwashing. There were no washcloths in the room. Flushing the toilet took several tries each time. Water pressure in the shower was poor, and the temperature varied. There were very few patrons in the hotel the 2nd night we stayed, so there's no excuse for this. The tub floor was slick, and the grab bar location wasn't optimal. Breakfast was included, but the hours were extremely limited, 6-9 am, even on the weekend. The selection was familiar: powdered eggs, potatoes, and a sausage patty... plus a waffle machine for hot items. Only regular coffee or tea (Bigelow) were available, plus orange juice. The breakfast area was bright and cheerful at first glance... with some obvious issues (see photos). It's been a long time since we've stayed at a LaQuinta, and it's likely we will not choose this brand in the future. This particular hotel is a victim of poor maintenance and should definitely be avoided.
