Great venue, we came for the Candlelight Christnas concert. The only feedback I have is that the chairs are very tightly packed. It was a short show so it was fine, but a long play or such would be veey difficult to remain comfortable.

I attended a community event here this morning and it was a beautiful location for a breakfast. The bells rang a few times as I was parking and that was pretty cool. We were in the downstairs/basement room and it comfortably held 300+ people. I only saw a small part of the building during my trip but it was impressive. They partner with Kahn's Catering and we had a delicious breakfast. Parking was free (at least to me for our event) and right outside so it was convenient. We did have to walk down a few flights of stairs so I'm not sure how accessible it is. There may be a more accessible entrance somewhere else. I would love to attend another event here or do a tour to see more of the building.

I've been here for weddings and other events, tonight was Halloween classics by a string quartet by candlelight and it was fabulous. The venue couldn't have been more perfect for the music showcased. Only down side was it was so hot in the auditorium we were in.

Went to the Candlelight Concert Series by Fever for the holiday show last night. It was fantastic! They offer other musical shows featuring songs by Taylor Swift or Queen to name a few. The venue is small enough that even from zone C, we could see/hear just as if we were closer. The acoustics are wonderful. So many ornate details, I can see why it would also be a great spot for weddings! Parking can be a bit of a mess to get in/out. They do offer free parking in the fenced lot, but there is only one entrance in/out so if you're the later showing, you're fighting those leaving and it's a bit chaotic with everyone crowding to one place. Likely the only time I'd suggest paid, street parking over free.

My daughter had her 1st dance show here in August. Because of Covid, which we say now A LOT, this was the venue we were open to because if capacity issues etc. They just checked everyone's temp at the door and had space between families. Of course all wore masks. I just wish that the dancers didn't have to wear masks too on stage. It's really pretty in here and the views of the stage all around were good. We are now doing the Nutcracker production here this year instead of our normal location. I think it will be a beautiful location for this also!

Beautiful architecture sets this building out from the surrounding ones. It is huge & you can see it from a distance. We didn't have time to go in, but certainly enjoyed the beauty of it. I'm sure the inside is just as gorgeous & wouldn't disappoint.

I've driven past the Scottish Rite many times and admired the Gothic architecture from afar, but never took the time to look at it up close until last week. Tours of the building are only offered Monday-Friday from 10:00 - 2:00, so when I had a day off work with no plans, I decided to take advantage of the opportunity. My mom and I went on a guided tour of the building, which was free and led by a volunteer Freemason with Scottish Rite branch. What I really liked about the tour was that our guide didn't have a canned presentation for us - it was a little off the cuff and he didn't disclose many specific details (even when we asked for them). Some people might be turned off by this, but I figured that if the tour guide had told all the minute details, they wouldn't really mean a whole lot to me at the time, and I certainly wouldn't remember what type of wood a table was made of or the year in which it was built a few days later, so what difference do details make? What mattered to me was that the building and furnishings were beautiful. The tour takes you all over the building and lasts a little over an hour. The stained glass windows throughout the building were very striking -- it was pretty cool to see such elaborate, secular designs in the medium. I also loved seeing the ballroom, with its massive chandelier and intricate ceiling, and was very impressed by the theater... seeing it completely empty almost felt a little reminiscent of the Phantom of the Opera for some reason. The tours are available for private individuals as well as small groups. Best of all, they are free! Another point of interest which I had no idea about prior to visiting -- there is actually a small cafe inside the Cathedral which serves lunch Monday-Friday. If you're a tourist to the city, or just happen to be a resident who has never been to the Scottish Rite, I think it is worth visiting. If you don't have time for a full tour, at least walk around the exterior to appreciate the unique architecture.

We missed the time for the indoor tour. But the outside is amazing! Would live to revisit someday and see the inside. And the tour is free.

So, "Why??", you ask, did we get a wedding planner? Well, let me ask you: do you want to enjoy your wedding? Or do you want to be running around making sure the DJ cues your dad to the dance floor in between mingling with the most special people in your life? Your wedding will already go SO quickly - don't waste it by attending to the small details. Jessica was AWESOME. I'm a laid-back bride and I appreciated her relaxation, yet incredible attention to detail, during the planning process. We met for coffee twice and communicated via email in between. She brought up questions I hadn't even thought of, created the agendas, communicated with vendors, chimed in when we needed advice and made our wedding perfect. She's the kind of wedding planner that will make sure you eat at your own wedding (so you don't pass out), will snag you for that perfect sunset shot, and keep the event running smoothly while you enjoy the best night ever. She's amazing, kind, efficient, professional, and fun. Definitely recommend!

So, when we began planning, we knew we'd need some extra hands on deck as our venue didn't come with a built in events coordinator. Plus, I was planning a wedding in Indiana from my home in San Francisco, which can be very stressful. I got Jessica's name from two girlfriends, and after my initial email to her about a year ago, we got on the phone to talk through my wedding vision. Now, as a publicist, I have planned my share of large scale events, so I really wanted Jessica to sell me (and especially my parents) on her services and why we would need her help. And that's exactly what she did! Jessica has so much experience planning all kinds of weddings, she asked really smart and detail-oriented questions, but I think what sold me is that Jessica also had an outdoor, at home reception in September a few years ago, so I knew she'd take great care of us. Jessica's support throughout the process was so critical to helping us pull off a fabulous wedding. What I love most about Jessica is that she wants to work with brides who love to plan - that's me! In the months leading up to the wedding, Jessica's makes sure you've thought of absolutely everything and nothing falls through the cracks. We had one or two calls last Fall to talk through wedding details and decide on the right planning package for us (more on that below). When I was back in Indiana in the Spring, Jessica came to my parents' home in Muncie to walk through the yard and help us make some decisions on placing the tent, band, bar, etc. She has so much experience and really great ideas, so she helped us take lots of things into consideration. Then, we had two more meetings to run through every single detail before the big day. She's very flexible on timing for meetings and what works best with your schedule. We selected JDWC's Wedding Day package, which consists of 12 hours on-site on the wedding day, plus planning meetings leading up to the big day. My parents were a little hesitant when they saw the price tag, but I can't tell you how many times throughout the planning process I heard them say "I don't know what we would do without Jessica - she's worth every penny!" and I couldn't agree more. I would highly recommend Jessica Dum Wedding Coordination to any bride who is thinking she might need some help on her big day!

They are a true local Indianapolis shop... engaged in the community and full of wonderful people. They were a delight from start to finish. We were clueless about the whole process of wedding planning, and they were SO informative and helpful, while not being pushy at all. Prices are so reasonable for the quality of what they deliver, and they worked with our budget and vision. It was such a stress relief to know they were on our team, and would do an incredible job without a lot of input from us (especially the day of). If you are planning any event, especially a wedding, look no further. As the bride, I was just so stressed with all of the planning, and they just made me SO comfortable and at ease from the first meeting. It made the floral aspect something I didn't have to worry about in the slightest. Sharing a photo of my bridal bouquet because...WOW. Stunning, cascading white orchids that were just beyond my high expectations. You can tell they are passionate about florals and also their clients. We could not have been happier.
