My issue was a pattern of accepting work that did not seem fully understood, then failing to follow through when problems came up. The project was hired on February 18 and was supposed to be completed by March 7. By March 25, it still was not properly finished. The planned stone grid patio extension was accepted, but we later canceled that portion because confidence in the execution was not there. Even after canceling it, the remaining ask was simple: remove the stones and place them back in the front yard for return. That still was not done. The irrigation issue only reinforced the same concern. When questions came up, I was essentially told to "google it" or switch to "water by hand," which did not inspire confidence that the work had been done correctly. Even a basic gate latch remained unfinished well past the promised completion date. What broke trust for me was not just delay. It was poor judgment in accepting work, weak ownership once concerns were raised, and failure to complete even simple closeout items. I would be very cautious about hiring this company for anything beyond basic planting and mulch.

He told me they would get me on the schedule for New Years Eve. The 3 guys got here early, made fast work of getting everything done, cleaned up after themselves and hauled everything away. It heats up just like the weather--something to consider if you live in a hot climate. Our Experience: We chose Big Tex Turf because they matched key items from another quote, had great reviews, and guaranteed completion before a big home event. We paid in full, so can't speak to financing. Our sales rep (Zach) started strong, but was hard to reach after booking. When weather delayed our install and left a large sand pile in the street (a safety and HOA issue), we couldn't get a hold of him--even the install team had trouble. I had to step in and offer a temporary tarp/cone solution myself. Tip: Texting a team member is more effective than calling. Calls go to the main office. Despite the sales rep gap, the installation team was excellent. They were efficient, professional, and finished the job in one day. Cleanup was great, and they came back as early as 7 AM to resolve post-install questions. 2-Year Follow-Up (as of 5/14/2025): Almost two years later, customer service remains solid. We've had a few normal turf issues and they've addressed every one quickly. The lawn still looks great--we're overall very happy. It was towering next to and leaning slightly over my tile roof, and scared half the bidders off, and all of whom but one quoted MUCH higher prices to remove my gentle, but dangerous giant. I entrusted Gary's team once more due to his prior difficult work on my big live oak. They did a safe and beautiful job, protected my home and hauled off the enormous tree, grinding out the stump 18" below ground. Gary's team was very prompt, meticulous in caring about the details of my requirements and a bargain. Again really enjoyed doing difficult business with an honest and nice man who's really good at his craft.
