This was our first time using Scotts. 3 man team showed up Saturday and trimmed our Japanese maple and thinned it out. They raised the canopy of a crab apple and trimmed away from the house. They did not tell us they were coming just showed up, laughed about it. we asked to just drop the trees, that's exactly what they did on top of my garden and raised bed smashing it. The took no care in what they were doing. There were plenty of spots to lay the branches and trees beside on top of my garden. they left a mess. We had the company come out to give us an estimate. They actually sent a crew the same day (about 5:00pm) which was surprising, as it was supposed to be in a week or two. The 'foreman' kept saying, "you have a nice backyard, you got a good deal, you got a good deal". He said, "we can't do the job today because we need a skid to slide the wood out of the back yard". So they assured us they were going to come back next week or tomorrow. Then the next day we get a text from the 'estimator' that the job was going to be more than twice the original estimate! So either he is totally unqualified to do his job....or the 'foreman' needs to take over doing the estimates. Either way don't trust the estimates and I wouldn't trust the company to do any job! read more

Did not finish job. A rep came out for a quote said they could remove tree same day as quote. After tree was down and it was paid for, he said and would be back in a couple weeks to remove stump because it needed to dry out. A couple weeks came and went. I called once and didn't get a call back. I called again and, they said their paperwork didn't indicate we paid for stump removal. My husband clarified with the man who provided the quote multiple times that stump removal was included in the amount we paid (we wouldn't have proceeded with same day removal). This is dirty business practice. read more

Yet another company that comes behind the wake of a natural disaster to price gouge. Please note folks that Scott's claims about "Emergency Removal Pricing" through your insurance company are complete and utter B.S. If you look at other reviews someone notes about how Scott's company was reported AND CHARGED for price gouging after another natural disaster in North Carolina. They quoted us $4,000 to remove two trees. TWO TREES, folks. Even our regular lawn service company that provides tree services said that was astronomical pricing. Let's also note one of Scott's own team members said that insurance companies were just "throwing money at them" to cut down trees. Another thing to note is that the gentleman who came to provide the quote and get sign-off didn't even leave a copy of the paperwork. My mother had to chase someone down from the insurance company to get a copy of it eventually emailed to her. This led to a lot of confusion and hesitance from our side when Scott's team showed up hours later with no copy of the invoice, details of the work needing to be done, or details of our insurance claim number. There was absolutely zero sense of organization. And a personal note to Scott himself who felt the need to get abrasive and nasty with me on the phone. When a customer asks you and your team for an invoice or insurance claim number to prove that you're there with the correct insurance company, do it. Don't argue with someone or threaten them when they are simply trying to do their due diligence. Your lack of respect and understanding is abhorrent and you should quite frankly be ashamed of yourself for being such a vile person during such a sensitive time. Please note we ended up refusing their service, regardless of our insurance company contracting them out as their preferred vendor. You have a choice. Don't use Scotts. read more

As of this date, no monies have been paid since no work has been started much less completed and yet I have received 4 electronic bills. The salesman said they would call before coming over but four men show up one day with no notice. I specifically showed the salesman that there were bees in one of the trees and he said he would let the workers know, it wouldn't be a problem and still the crew that showed up said they knew nothing about that. After looking around, one of the crew came to me and said that they could not do the job because he didn't climb, one other was allergic to bees and the others were afraid of bees. He said they would send another crew and they would call head this time. I have called them three times but still have not received any calls from them, however I have gotten FOUR (4) ELECTRONIC BILLS. read more

DON'T ever use this company. I contacted them to have my trees trimmed for April. They came out only to realize the heavy rain wouldn't allow them to do a proper job. I was in agreement. Then they have sent me 5 statements for the job that has never been done. I have e-mailed and talked to their phone service the situation at least 5-6 times and the bills keep coming. At this point I DO NOT want the service to be done because of their lack of professionalism and too late for the trimming to be done. read more

Scott's Tree Service uses various subcontractors so BEWARE. The unprofessional person they sent to grind down stumps ruined some of my property. He tore up my yard, landscaping and took a chunk of concrete out of the sidewalk and step to the house. When I confronted him he said, 'I don't give a "F", read the contract you signed, I'm not responsible for any damage." I immediately called Scott's Tree and the person I spoke to said , don't care and feel free to use another company next time. Bottom line, I should have paid the extra $50 difference and gone with Davey Or Alhum & Arbor. They have their own crews and professional equipment. A few hundred dollars isn't a big deal now that I have so many repairs to address. read more

These people do good work, but they will absolutely rip you off. Quoted me $1,000 over average to remove tree limbs, hounded me with calls while working. Really wish I had read reviews on this company before I requested a quote from them. Do not, under any circumstance, use this company to do any work for you. Please learn from my mistake. Terrible customer service, as a customer I've never had a company argue with me so much. Kinda scary. Argued with me about his guys breaking a pot and the actual quoted price. They were the only company that actually got back to me, and they did it the same day. I had somebody to come and give me an estimate, again on the same day (Monday). He said they'd be able to get me taken care sometime that week, and to my surprise, the crew showed up the next day, Tuesday. The estimate was 3 to 4 hours, and they were done in 2! Cleaned everything up, my yard looks great. I had 3 trees cut down and lots of branches trimmed. Awesome job, thank you. read more

Scott's Tree Service is now being charged by the Attorney General of NC for price gouging plus he turned the invoice over for collection and tried to say we got paid by the insurance and keeping the funds which is false. We have not received anything and the collection agency is also being charged. read more

Terrible, terrible I called Scotts Tree Service on 8/20/2019. He requested pictures of tree and provided a quote of 1500.00. I told him it was a Catalpa tree, 70 feet tall, behind the fence, and I sent pics. He returned my call and stated his crew would perform the job on the following day. I went home around 3:00 and found the crew cutting my maple tree near my deck. I yelled your cutting the wrong tree, and I went inside because I felt faint. I went and sat down and the crew knocked on the door and told me the manager would call me later to resolve this. I stated okay, and was relieved that they were going to rectify this situation. The crew left and Scott will not return my calls. The tree was perfectly healthy and was used for shade during the day. I would like for this company to replace this tree, and cut the tree they were suppose to. I did not and will not pay for this service. I did not get the worker's name, I trusted he would call me back. I only contacted Scott for this job, so it could only be his company that completed the work. Scott has blocked my number, and will not respond. Whatever you do, do not use this service. read more

We moved into our house in August. The back yard was full of tree stumps of all sizes. We found these guys through an ad on FB and decided to call. We were shocked at how low the price quote was for stump removal. They came out the next day and very quickly removed all the stumps and left. The workers they sent out were so nice and friendly! We were so impressed with their work we decided to get a quote to cut down a large pine tree on the side of our house. Once again, we were shocked at the price and they came out the next day to do the work. This time there were a lot more workers and they were amazing and super professional. When they were done they cleaned up our yard, cleaned up the street in front of our house, cleaned up the sidewalk and grabbed some big random tree branches from our front yard just because they are that awesome. Who does that? Wonderful professional people who care about what they do! I would, have and will recommend this tree service to everyone!! Back in 2016 I called and asked for an estimate to have some trees deadwood cleaned up and cut back from the house. I specifically told the owner (Scott) about some smaller trees back in the corner of my yard that were pushing against my fence and causing the fence to be damaged. I wanted all of them removed. I was very clear about this being the most important thing I needed done. He didn't give me a written estimate, just a verbal quote. I asked for a estimate in writing. He emailed me a short email with some basic info in it. I emailed him back about a week or 2 later and said lets go ahead and get it scheduled. I never heard back. I was coming home from an appointment about a week later and the workers were at the house already working. It really would be nice to get an email or phone call to let people know when the are coming for planning purposes. I noticed they were almost done with the work when I got home, but only 3 of the trees near the fence were removed and none of the ones that were pushing against the fence. I confronted one of the guys that works for Scott, and he said he was told to only removed the 3 smallest trees back behind the shed. So he called Scott and then Scott called me. Scott was very rude and kept insisting that we only discussed removing the trees directly behind the shed. but not the ones in the corner. ALL of the trees were behind the shed but he kept saying they were not which didn't make any sense. Then he tried to blame it on a misunderstanding because he said it was raining the day he came out to give the estimate. That made no sense either. He said he was not going to remove the trees and he would charge me $400 less instead of having the workers remove the trees we originally agreed on. So now, he has lost a customer and I will never recommend them to anyone either. He left the trees that I needed removed the most and left me with a huge inconvenience of having to hire another company to do the work. I do have good things to say about the 3 guys that came out to do the work. They were very nice men and were extremely hard workers and were very thorough in their cleanup after the work was done. This is an updated review because I received a letter threatening to take legal action if it was not removed. i have decided that my rights can not be violated for posting what I feel is an honest review.
