If I could give this school negative stars I would. The way my daughter and family was treated by her teacher and the staff was nothing short of horrible. My daughter was constantly bullied by her teacher and when I approached the principal | was blown off. The pure lack of biblical understanding is apparent when you attend there. I had to spend the last year helping my daughter heal from the hurtful way she was treated. I expected more from a school that claims to be Christian but this is just another high priced private school that has nothing to do with helping your child to learn more about Christ. This is a horrible school. My husband and I initially thought putting our child in this school would be a good idea as she was missing friends from her previous school in another state. To say we were treated horrible would be an understatement. Her teacher bullied her and put a target on her from day one (I found out after we withdrew her) Mind you she was in 3rd grade when this happened. My daughter really loved her previous Christian school and this one was just different in general. I figured I would try to make it work but it was evident we would not be a good match for this theologically bankrupt institution. We finally decided to withdraw her after I found out they had made my daughter meet with the school counselor and were trying to get info out of her as if we abuse her. She was missing her previous school with all her friends and her teacher was literally a nightmare to her. I was so disappointed in how the leadership dealt with my concerns before I finally decided to be done with SCA. If you are looking for a truly Christ centered school then I would avoid this one at all costs. My daughter is now at a new one and it's been so amazing to see her grow spiritually. I went there for 4th grade and it was a wasted year. Took a long time to get caught up. Teachers were mean and dumb, a bad combination. Especially this guy named Mr. Christian. (Yeah, I can't make this stuff up.) I didn't learn a thing in his math class. He never taught long division. Lots of holier than though preaching and very little teaching. Then there was the bullying, it was severe, and it started with the faculty. Glad I only spent one year there. read more

Wow, couldn't disagree with the other review more. SCA has been an amazing find for our family. We relocated to AZ last year and were looking for a Christian School for our two boys. SCA welcomed them with open arms and my kids have never been happier. The teachers are caring, friendly, and committed to serving the Lord through teaching these kids. If you're not a Christian, as it sounded like the other reviewer wasn't, this isn't the school for you and they are very up front about this. If you are you should seriously consider coming to SCA for an open house and meeting the administrators. Go Eagles! read more

My daughter loved going to SCA. I found the staff to be very caring and concerned both about her academic achievement and her well being, especially with issues at home. I couldn't recommend a more loving and caring staff than at SCA. I'm grateful to them for the extra time and effort they gave to my daughter. They really do care about the students and will give them every opportunity to succeed. We were at SCA for a year in both the preschool level and the elementary level for our two children. While at SCA we experienced both love and hate. Our preschooler was loved while our elementary student was chastised and bullied by both the STAFF and peers for having a learning disability. We reached out to the principal and were passively dismissed. The head of the school never responded when concerns were brought forward and ignored multiple requests for meetings and we ultimately pulled our kids. If your child has even the smallest of delays this is NOT the school for you. While we are practicing Christians we did not feel the love of God here but more and more judgement and bullying each day. read more

Scottsdale "Christian" Academy, yet the students senior teacher Ms. Mallory Gilbert is simply unqualified and unprepared to teach her class. What should be there most beneficial department, has failed the entire senior class for the 22-24 school years. The students themselves formulated a front to back essay expressing their distaste and pleading her termination for the class. For the lack of qualifications, the students are required to write essays and have yet to be taught Biblical material that they can apply to real the real word. The science department during the 22-23 school year had went through 3 teachers in one year and the students did not have a full time teacher in the classroom. Students in the school write bad words and racist words on t-shirts. School relies on parents and families with generational wealth to fund them, and the students with family that donates essentially run the school and are not held to the same standard. Would not recommend for anyone with a sane mind. read more

Ok - so I am going to write a review because my kids actually GO to the school, not because news of a lawsuit. People should not post reviews about a school that their children do not even attend! To the people writing reviews just based on news without even having children that attend the school - shame on you. You do not know the school! There are two sides to every story and obviously, you do not know both.. "It was made worse" ??? And you are calling the teachers dumb? Hmmm This is a wonderful school. My kids are extremely happy, love the other students and teachers, and are both very intelligent. You get out of school what you put into it. If someone has been to "several" private schools, they may be the problem, not the schools... This is a great school. I went to a football game and went to the student section and the students were saying very mean comments and not being very accepting.

Seems odd to post on Yelp about your kids school but here it goes: I've had my children at SCA for over 18 years. One flew thru it and it was a perfect fit in their athletic department, spiritual life and their academics. Another one of my children struggled and searched for other multiple academic options!! That student ended up coming back to SCA for high school! We could not be more grateful. The biblical and spiritual influence in the life of a teenage kid is priceless!!!(No school or church is perfect.) But this school, SCA, has served the diverse needs of our children exceptionally! We would not want our kids at any other school during these turbulent academic, spiritual, & political times. read more

To begin, there are a lot of kindhearted people there. If you are looking for a safe environment, this is it. Drugs, weapons, things of that nature at this school are almost nonexistent. I never saw or heard of any significant issues over the seven years I was there. If I had to count the number of fist fights I saw. It was probably 2 and they don't really count. As I said, very safe place. Here is a rundown on the sports teams. The basketball coaches are tough, but they know what they are doing. The baseball team has been successful, but is full of prima donnas, something about the players they attract, never quite got it. The track program felt pretty good, but I had limited experience. The football program has changed coaches twice over the last few years. I don't know the new coach so I don't know whether he is good or bad. Now, the final issue that needs to be addressed is religion at SCA. They say they are non-denominational, but they are more an evangelical Baptist breed. If you are Catholic, then you better prepare to be told you are not a Christian. They do not acknowledge Catholics as Christian, though they will not say it to your face. They usually display it in short satirical quips. In continuation, a large amount of teachers there would rather teach religion than their own subject, which is detrimental to learning. The teachers and faculty who were of a high caliber and open to new ideas didn't last when I was there. Mostly because they either didn't conform or because they were not "easy A" teachers. They were always willing to give lots of time after hours to any struggling students, but they were still asked to leave anyway. We lost quite a few good teachers. (By chance, a few of the best individuals I have ever met still work there.) As a side note, the majority of existing teachers will also discount the idea of evolution and that the earth is older than ten thousand years. Just a random fact. Their religious views in a nutshell are: Christ's grace is what saves you from hell and works/service are just nice add ons. (I have read James 2:14 to them countless times only for them to walk me in a circle using circuitous logic.) They also believe if you have never heard of Jesus you are going to hell because you should have known he existed. They call it "General Revelation" . This school really helped me understanding what I believe because I tend to be stubborn in character. As for many of my good friends, they are now agnostic or devout atheists because the school gave them such a turn off to even the idea of God. The school does not breed free thinkers. I have many fond memories of this school, as well as many sad ones. For me, I would do it all again. However, for many others who are not stubborn in ire, I do not recommend it. You will watch them lose whatever sense of faith they have, or begin to puppet what they are told. My message to the school, if you were to sharpen up your curriculum to focus solely on the intended subject, without religious intervention, and allow new teachers that are willing to set the bar high despite gripe from parents. My son attended here in elementary school and I attribute so much of what he learned, his character, his LOVE for others and for GOD, and his growth to the influence he had while here. We had heard that the elementary school was great, but we were REALLY disappointed in SCA's high school. They are EXTREMELY fundamentalist. They actually teach that Catholicism isn't a Christian religion. Seriously? In the time that we were there, all the good teachers left or were let go since they didn't think religion should be the main factor in every class (including science and computers). As a result, our kids were woefully unprepared for college. It's like every teacher wants to preach rather than teach. We still laugh about the time one of the teachers told my child that the Grand Canyon was created because of the flood of Noah's Ark. LOL. It could be a great, small school if it wasn't run by a small group of rather narrow-minded people. Kind of sad actually. read more

I could not disagree more. I have been going to sca since kindergarten and I am in 11th grade right now. The teacher who told us about how the Grand Canyon and how it was formed in the great flood was the best science teacher ever. His name is mr c. I have been pleased with this school ever since I started. But I do have to agree that in mostly every subject, the teachers do preach a lot. But other than that, I have enjoyed my journey at sca , and I con not wait for my senior year. read more

Unfortunately we are neighbors of this school. When we moved in we honestly could not have anticipated how completely unconcerned with their community they could be. There have been so many issues with the loud speakers. We expected the noise for games and were ok with that. But there have been cases of high school kids out on the field with no staff supervision plugging in their iPhones and blaring music and just hanging out with friends. Right now we are going on the 5th hour of blaring music with no game going on. And the school is on spring break so there is no one to even talk too. It is completely unacceptable the way they treat the people who live around them. Oh and on the education bit... the high school cheerleader were selling pom poms to raise money so we thought we would buy a couple. They were each three dollars. They tried to give me the wrong change three times before I had to tell them what the change should be! read more
