They were not closing, it looked like a hardware problem! On investigating, I learned that she had replaced the track a couple of years ago. The house was built in 1998 and the blinds worked fine for 20 years at which point there was an issue with the track that was replaced two years back. I further learned that the track was installed by her handy man instead of a professional blind specialist. Being on a tight budget and wanting to be green, she really wanted to see if the blinds could be repaired at a nominal cost. Some other blind specialists had assessed to "replace the blinds both hardware and the veins" because they were not repairable, which was the very expensive option. I kept asking the fundamental question that the blinds worked for 20 years with the old track and fail after 2 years with the new track....could this be the quality of the blind hardware perhaps? It turns out that part of the problem was a faulty installation by the handy man. This problem led me to the PHENOMENAL Josh Barron of Esquire Interiors (which by the way is a third generation family run business I later learned), he impressed me with: 1. His excellent listening skills with my mom to understand the problem with the blinds and then solving the problem very methodically and precisely. He asked my mom thoughtful questions and genuinely wanted to understand the issue and when he sensed that mom was struggling to explain he did a FaceTime call with her which made it easier for my mom to show him the issue at hand. Josh was able to determine on the phone that he strongly felt that he could repair the blinds at a very reasonable cost. Thus saving her a big expense! 2. His knowledge, competence and tenacity at problem solving the issue was truly inspiring. He tried many things to diagnose and fix the issue. There was a lot of trial and error as he eliminated possibilities and then the problem was fixed!!! 3. He graciously agreed to look at mom's other blinds and fixed their minor issues, shortening the blind in some places due to the house settling and lubricating the tracks as necessary. He did all the extra without charging. This is how we take care of our seniors! Thank you, Josh! Josh is very competent (knows his trade very well, I learned he was working with his dad building tracks at the tender age of 8!), very customer centric, and very high on integrity and compassion....a winning combination! He will be our "go to" person for all things blinds from now on and when we are ready to get new blinds....we will go to his business. Minty

Instead of replacing all the windows around the house like all the window selling people are telling us, Rob offered to fix the windows for a much better pricing. We are so happy with the result we asked them to remodel our three bathrooms. Again, their quote was better than the other 8 companies we compared with. Their timing and flexibility was better as well! Throughout the process of bathroom remodeling, they were extremely helpful, accommodating and easy to work with. From picking tiles and helping us with the pickup (usually pretty expensive), to going out of their ways to seal cracks for us on the wall and hanging paintings for my mom. They were able to accommodate everything we asked them too. Including changing old electric outlets, adding a shower in the guest bathroom, and switching the vent to a heated vent. They even helped to fix my kitchen sink that a plumber failed after trying for 3 days! They are also honest people. I did notice a cracked window and Rob immediately ordered a new one and covered the cost. So they do honor their warranty on their work. Overall, would highly recommend them for their excellent work, very fair pricing, and being such good nature people!

Blackrock and Vanguard are the big investors. Specifically: La-Z-Boy struggles to sell pillows. I am down-sizing to my retirement condo. I am replacing most of my furniture. After this experience, I will not spend another thin dime at any La-Z-Boy store. We were trying to buy five (5) decorative pillows for $15 ea and a $20 footstool. - Thirty-two (32) minutes - Four (4) sales reps involved at various points The La-Z-Boy whiz bangs at the Head Shed have deployed a goofball tablet-based system to decelerate the sales process and crater the customer experience. Luckily, there is a word for this! "Enshittification" was Word of Year for 2024: the misapplication or decline of technology for the benefit of business/shareholders at the expense of the user/customer experience. La-Z-Boy cannot figure out how-to sell pillows and footstools. Nor could the app correctly total what should have been: (($15*5)+$20)*1.06 = $100.70 It took me less than 10 seconds to correctly total the amount. I offered cash. Exact change. Let me leave, puhleeze. Cash was refused because ... paperwork! Paperwork must be signed! Scanners and barcodes made their debut for retail on June 26, 1974 - nearly fifty-four (count'm 54) years ago. La-Z-Boy has barcodes, but no scanners. Everything must be manually entered, lookups fail, errors corrected ... lather, rinse, repeat, repeat, repeat ... for each item. Whoever the heck is responsible for this (cough) business process ... where did I leave my VooDoo doll? There is also a one page T&C document that I was expected to sign without reading. Two sales reps actually said, "Just sign it. You don't need to read it" and became frustrated when I insisted on reading it, and were unhappy that I took a pic of it. Buy furniture? Spend $10k+. They have a little bit of everything...rustic, contemporary, glamorous, transitional...I personally would have liked to see more formal and traditional pieces, but I also understand that's not what's in style these days. But because they are a full-scale interior design firm as well as a retail storefront, they can always order or custom design what you want. They have great links to their suppliers on their website, as well as some great photos of their work. Their furniture and most of their accessories are reasonably priced; a few seem a bit high, but this is a small local business and not a big-box retailer. You're also paying for quality and it's a great place to find that unique piece that isn't just your standard mass-produced, made in China trinket. I have not used their interior design services; I'm only speaking for the retail store, but should you require an interior designer, I'd say this place is definitely worth checking out!
