Inquired online on Saturday and immediately received a call, had a nice chat about what I was looking for. Scheduled for someone to come this morning @10 to look at the project, but got no showed. No call, message, or return phone call when I called twice. Could have been multiple doors, multiple windows, and attic installation for this company. Rude considering I made arrangements to be here for the appointment. Even invited a friend who was looking to hire someone for work while he is renovating. Off to find a different company! read more

We recently hired J&E to install Pella Impervia windows throughout our home and a new exterior door. We're very happy with the Pella product and would gladly recommend it. However, the installation experience with J&E was disappointing. While the installers were polite, the workmanship was substandard: sloppy exterior caulking, poorly cleaned windows, splintered and unpainted sills, missing trim pieces, and sharp unfinished metalwork on exterior windows. A dog door was improperly installed (you can reach your hand inside and unlock the deadbolt). The other dog door was left partially installed. It took us two hours to finish the installation. One new window fogs up regularly--something the old one never did, which makes me think there is an installation issue. Most concerning was the lack of oversight. The owner never did a final walkthrough after the job was deemed "finished" but requested payment regardless. For a company specializing in installation, that level of follow-up is unacceptable. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend J&E. Arrive when they say they will, and do a top-notch professional job. No hidden costs or fees. So happy we went to them for our exterior door. Our 110 year old home needed help! We have lived in this residence for almost 43 years, but about 15 years ago we knew then that it required more than just "band-aiding." Having a very old home presented aged problems, but nothing that this incredible team couldn't tackle and overcome with their creative, knowledgeable mission. After checking out several companies, to the rescue came Ed and Jeff, partners in J & E Installation Co. We were immediately impressed in the first in-home contact when Ed surveyed the problems and presented a potential plan of action as to what would be involved (with reasonable estimated costs) starting with windows. Once our decisions were finalized, it was definitely a challenge that they were willing to take on. There was no pressure put upon us; many innovative suggestions were offered by them. From the very beginning a team arrived taking measurements, laying out tools, and bringing a supply of energy with a focus on the job. We really witnessed the incredible teamwork that this work crew demonstrated! There was a lot of productive communication with us; a definite focus on positive customer relations was always evident! Each morning the work crew started with welcoming smiles and a sense of humor as they unloaded heavy equipment, ladders and other necessary implements. Each person demonstrated positive attitudes and were self-directed as the work progressed. At times the heat and humidity of Michigan's notorious summer weather would have slowed down most workmen, but not these guys. We don't even know if they took any breaks other than a brief lunch. They were working on site until late each day. There was constant visible progress which included 2 large picture windows that faced our woods. It was obvious that they wanted to be on schedule. The flurry of detailed action was like a group of worker bees. This company was detail-oriented with perfection as a goal and pride in their workmanship until the last window was in place and trim work finished. Then our beautiful front door with the storm door arrived and the installation team completed their tasks. The clean-up was efficient and also a priority with them and so J & E had given our home new, extended life. This labor of love that they took on will always make them a part of this residence. Now nearly two decades later all of their work still looks new; the windows keep our house warm, are easy to keep clean and everything looked terrific for our home's inclusion in our town's Christmas Home Tour. J & E Installation Company owners are on a first-name basis with us and have kept an open invitation for us to stay in contact with them if we ever need their assistance. Because of their incredible work ethic and bonding, they have never forgotten us. We connect with them regularly when we stop by their displays at the Builders' Shows in Novi, Michigan. We would highly recommend this fantastic business. Their work ethic is something to behold and they are terrific, inspiring role-models for others. J&E installed a french door on my house last year. Great service - very responsive, and I'm happy with the work they did. Jeff, one of the owners came out to quote it. He was helpful and we talked for a while about the options. He followed up over the next few weeks by phone, answering any questions and concerns I had. While there was no wiggle room on price, I appreciated the attentiveness of the sales guy. I originally found J&E because they are a local certified Pella dealer. But they quickly suggested another door manufacturer, maybe because the price was better? I wanted a modern clean-lined door he helped me pick out one that had the inset glass, rather than the bump-out plastic edge. So in the end, I got the kind of door I wanted and am happy. The crew worked fast, and had few questions for me. They knew what they were doing. I appreciate that they worked neatly and put drop cloths down inside & outside. The crew was actually very friendly. Jeff came by to check on their work halfway through. The installers did point out some very very minor door scratches to me near the end of installation. They should have pointed them out sooner, rather than wait for the door to be in place. Not a big deal to me, but might have been a problem for someone else. read more

From the first interaction with Dan while visiting the showroom to educate myself on various product offerings, to meeting Jeff to finalize measurements and options, and finally this week having Harold completing the installation of 7-windows and a storm/screen patio door, we couldn't have asked for a more pleasurable experience. Ed came out to give me a quote for a front security door. My house was a somewhat janky flip a few years ago, and the front door was not spared. He said that in addition to adding the door, they would have to replace the brick molding as well. Once the door was built, Jeff came out to install it. He is an amazing professional, and seriously knowledgeable about what he's doing. There's a right and a wrong way to do work on a house, and J&E know how to do it the right way. Jeff even came back to fix a small issue I had noticed right after he left. Now, I have a nice, new security door with matching black brick molding. It looks fantastic and adds some security to the house. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend J&E, and plan to use them in the future if I need to. read more

Can't review the company's selection or service since we came to their showroom about 20 minutes before closing hour posted on their website and the doors were locked with no one inside and no message anywhere explaining why they were closed. Wasted half an hour getting there in rush hour traffic. They are only open late on Mondays, so if you're working like most people you can't get there any other weekday. Except of course they close with no explanation Makes me question if I want them handling my remodeling project anyway. I want the contractor that's on time and on schedule and won't just disappear without any notice, and right now I don't feel much confidence in these guys. read more

Over the last 5 years J&E has replaced all the windows & doors in my home. Most recently they installed a stunning 12" doorwall where there was previously a window & a wall. It was quite a project as the wall was load bearing, but wow! It changed our living space inside and out! Reasonable, attention to detail & quality workmanship, I cannot recommend them enough! The installation of the windows went very smoothly even though the walls in our house presented problems. House was built in the 40's by the original owner. He was creative to be polite. Several years ago I was searching for a door company to replace my front door that had two small side windows next to it with a double door entry so that it would be easy to move large items when both doors were open. I sought out several quotes and every company that came out said it could not be done. Ed from J&E came out and said it is difficult but it can be done. He is a craftsman, really knows how to alter/fix doors. So for that reason mainly I chose them. They also replaced my kitchen slider with a Pella that had blinds inside the glass. They did an excellent job. Now recently I called him back to tell him that the string in my Pella blinds had broken so he came out to inspect. When he came to pickup the blinds to replace them he had noticed that my front door seal around the glass was broken as well. I never noticed until he mentioned it. So he is completely replacing all of the glass in both of my doors! He also told me he didn't like that the stain had faded some from the harsh southern exposure and would also have someone out to restain the front doors! What business does that!? I was blown away by this. Ed is one of the most ethical business I have ever run across, so refreshing! He has my business for life. read more

I had the worst experience with this company. I fell in love with an interior door in the showroom, and also needed some repair work done to a vintage stained glass exterior door. I made an appointment for an estimate with Tina, who at first was extremely cordial. My first appointment was scheduled for Wednesday, which in turn, was rescheduled to Friday. I waited all day for Ed to come on that day and take some measurements. At 4:40 he called and said, "You didn't expect me to come this late in the day, did you?" "Yes, I actually expected you to come earlier during the day." The appointment again, was rescheduled for the following Monday. Ed did come and was not enthusiastic about completing two small jobs. He left, and that was when any further communication came to a halt. I emailed Tina and received one response from her, "I'll talk to Ed." Numerous calls and emails to Tina were a waste if time. I was given ridicules excuses and realized that I was wasting their time, as well as mine. They had no intention of completing this job. I wonder how I would have been treated if I was interested in having my windows replaced. I'm certain that I wouldn't be writing this negative review. read more
