This is for the stylist, not for Scout's in general. I had a 4:15 appointment with Robyn Clark. I waited as she had someone before me. At least 6 or 7 others came in after me in the course of 35 minutes or so and were all taken to get their haircut. At this point it was 4:45 when she FINALLY finished cutting the persons hair in her chair. Instead of taking me right after or even coming over to apologize for running late, she took her phone and went off somewhere. That's when I got up and asked the girl at the desk why is it taking so long, she apologized and said it won't be much longer. At that point, I didn't want this stylist to cut my hair any longer. After making me wait at least 30 to 40 minutes and I don't know how much longer it would have been before she decided to finally be ready to cut my hair, I left. Completely unprofessional!! You make an appointment for a reason, I can understand running a bit late, but this was so ridiculous!! Would definitely NOT recommend having your haircut by this stylist Robyn, she couldn't care less about good customer service!!! Seriously wish I could give ZERO stars!!! read more

I moved to Nashville about a year ago and struggled to find a barber who could do a really good fade. After trying 15 different places, I finally found Black Wolf Barbershop, which became my go-to spot for eight months--they nailed my fade every time. But since I recently moved across the street from this new place, I decided to give it a try. About three weeks ago, I walked in, and they assured me they're really good at fades. I called again today, and they reaffirmed that they do a great fade, so I went for it. Damien was my barber, and I have to say, he was a really nice guy--I enjoyed talking with him, and the staff overall was super friendly. The ambiance of the shop was great too. My fade turned out uneven with a noticeable line, which was surprising since they'd been so confident about their skills. Damien did mention he got a new pair of clippers and it was his first time using them, so that might explain the issue. I take my hair very seriously. I get it cut every two weeks. If you don't take your hair as seriously as I do, this place might be a good fit for you. In fact, I noticed a guy sitting across the room who got a really nice haircut--it wasn't a fade, just a regular white guy haircut, and it looked great. I would still recommend this place for its great vibe and friendly staff. Damien, in particular, was very kind and excelled in the conversation aspect. He seems like someone I would enjoy having a beer with while watching the Pacers-Knicks game. Let me start by saying that I usually enjoy coming to scouts barbershop and it is actually the only establishment I come to When wanting my hair cut and styled mainly because they have always done a great job, however on this specific visit I was highly unimpressed and disappointed. I checked in about 3-4 minutes after my booked appointment time (which I assume wouldn't be a huge problem especially considering rush hour traffic) and I still had to wait and was not taken back to a stylist chair until 40 mins after my booking was scheduled, the next issue I had was the receptionist from the front of the establishment had walked back to the stylist that was doing my hair (mind you she was barely half way through doing my hair) and asked her "how much longer she had on my hair because she has other clients" to which those guests had been waiting maybe 10 minutes after their booking was scheduled so not only was it rude but it seemed as that my stylist felt like she needed to rush to try and finish my hair highly unprofessional and rude I felt. Lastly I asked about the warm neck shave with the straight razor to which I was informed that it would be extra.. I've gotten it every single time I come to get my hair done and it has never cost extra but even accepting the extra price I was informed that she didn't have enough time to do it because she has other clients she needed to get to.. so basically I was told I couldn't get the services I wanted and was willing to pay for and even set myself an appointment for but was also rushed and did not receive the quality of cut or detail I usually always receive! I choose scouts barbershop and have been receiving my haircut from scouts for years now and never had any desire to even attempt trying any place new because I've never had any issues or complaints on anything UNTIL this visit. It's just highly upsetting and unprofessional how I was treated today and not to mention I am currently still having to go to another barbershop that I've never been to for entrusting them to finish and give the detailed attention I usually get from scouts and finish what should've been done by scouts.. I'm saddened, irritated and frankly just shocked to be honest with you.. I'm not exactly sure if I will be returning to scouts anymore which is upsetting because like I said I have been coming to scouts and no where else for at least 6-7 years now . As a long time customer of scouts, I was extremely disappointed with my cut today. 30 mins before my appointment I got a text changing my provider and the time. I should have just cancelled but the new provider was a "senior" stylist, and my past experiences have been mostly positive, so I assumed all would be great. WRONG! I was asked how would I like my hair, and I had one simple request, to not cut so short so as to see some existing alopecia (bald) spots on the back of my head. I had spent several months growing hair long enough to hide these. Bang, in one sloppy, 15 minute cut, the back of my head looks awful and the spots more obvious than ever. I should have realized when I wasn't shown the back of my head post cut, with the mirror. Apryle Green rushed through my appointment and did not offer me the attention or skill to make me feel any one else should trust her ability cut, even the simplest of hair. Attention wlw and women with short hair! I was looking for a masculine cut that still framed my female structured face. My cut here was alright, but I did get called "sir" quite a bit. I was down for a Justin Bieber/Shane/androgynous masc/soft butch haircut, but the man who did it made me look like my name is Kyle from the football team. It ended up shorter than I wanted and had a very angular shape. It didn't give pretty boy either.. it gave Kyle. The barber was soooo nice and also lgbt too, but I think he cut me more like gay boy than gay girl this time haha. I was cool about it and enjoyed the cut anyways. It did the job but thank goodness I am pretty and lean because it straight up gave straight guy Kyle. Sometimes people had to take a couple extra moments speaking to me before noticing I was female. No style! I fixed this by using lots of gel and make textures in it and just letting it grow a little. Then it was cute and fluffy and soft butch again. I love short hair and have had buzz cuts before. It was more about the framing than the length. Even so, it was shorter than asked for. I could've enlisted with this cut. Also, just be aware of their cancellation policy. I decided to try the place again and request a woman cut my hair this time so no repeat of Kyle would reoccur. I originally booked my second appointment just two hours before they closed the night before, and they open at 11am the next day. I ended up needing to cancel and tried to do so during my actual appointment time had started (yeah, my fault for it being during the slot), and they still charged me half price. They said I "took up space," even though the appointment was only within a 3-hour business window from the time I made it, and I couldn't call earlier because they weren't open. I highly doubt anyone would've booked the slot besides me given that they crammed me in there last minute for their first available opening of the next day, so it didn't make sense to me to tell me that I took up space. I had called to let them know they could let someone else, such as a walk in, take my spot, but it didn't matter to them. They run it like the chain they are and stick to strict policy even when they wiggle you in last minute to snatch your compensation up. So, be prepared to cancel early, or you'll still be charged--even on short-notice bookings. The whole experience made me feel like I was getting a haircut at a Great Clips in Target rather than Walmart but Nashville Equality barber edition. It was worth trying the place, and I hope they continue to grow and service gals like me better, but I'm just going to go somewhere else from now on. read more

Tony did a phenomenal job working with me and giving me suggestions to get my hair cleaned up but still with length. I just went in to get my first cut since 2019. I still have hair to about my shoulder but somehow I got cut by clippers all around my neck. I felt it during the cut but assumed my stylist knew what she was doing and that maybe I was over-reacting. I paid and tipped and left. When I got in the car I touched my neck where I was still feeling pain and then saw some blood on my hand. I then took a quick pic of the back of my neck to see this damage. When I went back in i was told that she just needed to "adjust her tool". I'm no hair stylist but I can't think of any reason to cut against skin where you aren't even cutting hair. The haircut was also way shorter than I requested but the injury is far more unsettling. I've had short hair cuts and long hair cuts and never been INJURED in the process! I believe the stylists' name was Asia. Im sure there are great professional stylists working here but I don't know if I would trust just walking in and getting who you get as it doesn't seem like they're doing a great job vetting their stylists. read more

Absolutely the worst experience. I called ahead of time to ask if they specialized in men who have long hair cuts. They lady told me they are all specialized in all types of hair. Took my son .... he wanted some off the back and around his face shaped. She butchered his hair. He was being nice - just wanting to get out of there and said it was fine. He cried all the way home. I did walk in to give my debit card and saw the cut - I just kept saying o er and over "OMG". The lady asked was that in a good way and I said no. She asked did I want her to take more off bc I said it was uneven. Again I said no. I later called to apologize for the way I acted. And she told me it's his head and he seemed to like it. He's 17 - he's not going to be honest. So before and after picture. The before picture was from last night. Unless you want your hair SHORT SHORT! Do not go. I guess we will be taking hair skin and nails vitamins for a while!! And charged me $35. Omg Update: They are proud of this work?!? My son was very nice and felt bad for the girl. "Great Clips quality with Marriott prices " PROS: They were able to get me in the same day, friendly barber, they offer seltzer water or beer while you wait. Nice decor. CONS: Price is too high for a fast mediocre haircut. It's funny because my barber from here was bad mouthing Great clips but my haircut came out looked the same as my haircut from great clips. Great place to get a haircut. Totally depends on who you get to cut your hair though. Through the years I've had some great people cut my hair and some not so great ones. Also, this place used to have beer to drink with your cut which was super cool back in the day. Lately, as in the past 4 years, it's been the same crap Coffee style beer or cream flavored. It's like the owner went to the local breweries and said, Hey, what's the least purchased beer you have on tap?" I have been going to scouts for 5 years in Sylvan Park. I Just moved to east Nashville and wanted to go to a scouts since I've always had great hair cuts with that business. I gave this two stars, one for the beer and another for the cut. I booked a buzz cut and beard trim like I usually do and asked "b" if he could give me a fade which I am usually granted. He responded a buzz is typically one guard. I asked him if he could change the price for a fade and he said there isn't enough time in the schedule, we are 10 min. Behind today. Okay cool, I asked for a one on the side and a 2 on the top. I get that he had to change out the guards but when I walk up to check out and get hit with a 53$ haircut after expecting it to be $28 I was upset. He responded with I thought we were on the same page?! And walked away. So I paid for the price of a fade and didn't get a fade?! Makes sense?! I am happy with the haircut but not with the non-transparency from my barber. Good vibes in scouts as always, I don't like leaving business pissed off though. Not only do you get a great haircut, you can the inside scoop on the local music scene as she's a performing musician in Nashville.
