I literally have a problem with them telling me that they close at 7pm and when I get there, they are closed. This happened two days in a row. I am highly upset about my time being wasted, especially when j get there and they're closed. I will not be back. I find it very unprofessional. You guys wasted my time. I work Monday -Saturday from 9-5pm I don't have time in the morning to stop by because I take public transportation, I have to leave my house at 8am to get to work by 9. When I spoke to someone at the school a month ago. She told me to come back Dec 4th. To sign up for the spring semester. I asked her what time do they close because I get off work at 5. She said they close at 7. When I got there last night about 5:45pm. They were closed. So I called this morning and spoke to someone and told her what happened. She informed me that they close early on Mondays at 5. And close Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7pm she said I can come by that they'll still be open when I get off work. When I got there tonight, there was a note on the door saying they will be closing at 4:30pm. I got there at 5:45pm. If you guys had an emergency to attend, have another person stay at least for the people that can't make it in the day time. But because of this I will not be back at all. I do not want to attend a school where you guys close early than what's expected. If I can't count on you to be open when you say you are, how in the hell do you expect me to depend on the instructors to teach me. What if I did attend, and I have an issue with an instructor or student at any given moment that you are supposed to be open. I can't talk to anyone then because you guys are closed. read more

This is a great school for culinary school sdce.edu Chef Megan is an amazing teacher, she teaches us in different modules, in learning from sanitation., making cheese, knife skills. Nice newly remodeled campus! Big parking lot! Good restaurants within walking distance! On a major bus line! Cute students! It used to be the continuation school where all the BAD boys and pregnant girls were sent back a few years ago when I was in High School. But the Community College District took it over and now it's da bomb! I was trying to get a job with the CHP Call Center and had to pass a typing test of 40 WPM. Not too long ago, I was down here every Saturday morning typing my little heart out trying to hit that magic 40 word stroke! The teacher was very helpful and pleasant and felt pity for me, I'm sure. I receive their class catalogs in the mail and am astounded at the depth and breadth of the courses offered-many absolutely at no cost. Here is another hint: many of my friends here at my apartment complex are lovely Brazilian ladies and handsome, romantic Brazilian men. They all go here to "study English" on their student Visa program. Forget the bars and pick-up spots. Spring Semester has started! I'm taking a Fundamental Sewing class and while there was a crazy long line of people waiting to get a seat in the class, line up early, and once you're in, you're good! Pros: the classes are free! campus is new admin and teachers are very nice Cons: no registration, so you have to go super early on the first day to line up... parking apparently is very bad, so again, you have to get there early online schedule is not always up to date Despite the few minor complaints, what a great educational resource for people who want to just learn something new for fun, or even start a new career! Continuing Ed. is part of the Mesa, City and Miramar College system so if you've ever taken a class at any of those locations and have a student id, all that information transfers to Continuing Ed. read more

The campus is new and beautiful. It's clean and easy to park. They said that there is a problem parking the bike outside so they allow putting the bike inside. I am taking the Professional Baking Skill class. The course is not a professional at all. It's very basic class. The kitchen is very good and is always missing a stiffer and a good knife but it is ok - I don't think that is a problem. The teacher is very nice but I was expecting more. I think she should explain the steps and the concepts to the class before we enter in the kitchen and use the " real" term for all things. I know that we are in the US and everybody speaks English/Spanish but in the kitchen we use terms in French and all the world use the terms is French but in class she use an English name. read more

This is the first class that I have taken at West City Campus(have taken others at the other campuses). Basically it was a one day class...and it could only last an hour, because there was not a minimum of 15 people there. SDCE desperately needs a better communication system/registration process in place for one day classes. I would not recommend getting up early to go to one, because more than likely they will have to cancel it last minute without notice. On the positive side, the instructor was very nice and helpful, and felt the same pain we did! read more

This San Diego's education systems best kept secret. A beautiful campus, great classes, and it's free!! I don't know of anything like this in any other region. I took Cisco classes here back in the day and rehashed the past recently and the classes are much improved and the building is beautifully laid out. I really want to take some adobe classes when I get a chance but they are full whenever I try to pounce on it. Act early and you will be rewarded. read more

I've taken many classes in Adobe PhotoShop and PowerPoint. I've found the instructors very helpful, both in their presentations and individual hands-on process. San Diego is very fortunate to have these free classes open to anyone who signs up. I've lived in the Redwood City area and found that the system there charges for their classes. read more

I love this campus because it has all my favorite classes! Was looking forward to the summer semester but a bit disappointed as one baking class I wanted to do got cancelled due to insufficient people. Turns out, there is another fun pastry class in place of that so win win. You need to go very early in order to register, before your class begins because these are free classes. Once your name is on the list, you're in. You only need to pay for material and that is convenient too. Everything is online - registration, payment, student ID. It's the perfect class for me. What's more, we get to eat yummy food daily at the baking class (made by us) ! Will join the fall semester as well! :) read more

The dean of this campus, Lorie Crosby Howell, made a horrible impression. She is not up to par with the philosophy of SDCE. I went there for an orientation to enroll in a fall 2013 class. First of all, the orientations were scheduled for 30 minutes each. Mine was for 2:30, and when I got there the people that had signed up for the 2:00 orientation were still waiting for their orientation because the dean had not showed up. Finally at 2:44, she showed up, totally unprepared. She did not give us the necessary information. When I asked questions to get info, she talked down in a condescending voice, talking loudly in pidgin English. I am asian, but I am completely fluent in English. I thought that was completely racist behavior. She does not seem to grasp the concept that the purpose of the orientation is to find out info. And she can't even handle me asking some questions about the registration process that she neglected to mention? We had to stand in line to register, and I noticed that she talked down to other the asian people in the same manner. So I started videotaping her doing this with my phone and got it on tape as evidence of discriminatory action. It turns out that the info she gave at the orientation was incorrect as well. I understand that it's a free class, but her behavior is unacceptable. She is an incompetent, immoral person who is undeserving of the position she has. I just lucked into the Sewing Fundamentals class Fall 2012. Great Instructor in Joan McKenna, so much professional knowledge. I was lucky the class was offered at night and free is even better.
