Went there for lunch today. For $5, it was a fabulous meal. We had a chicken chimichanga and a beef burrito. Both were excellent. The place is clean and the service was prompt and friendly. The food was served very fast and arrived fresh and hot. Excellent for lunch and their menu for supper looks to be reasonably priced, too. We will definitely be back for more. read more

The chips and salsa and extra cheese dip were the best things we ate. I ate carne asada tacos- they were missing something. The meat was dry- it would benefit from a great marinade and some extra toppings like cheese and some sort of sauce. The beans were actually pretty good. Rice was very plain. My boyfriend had the enchiladas mexicana and they were sub par. The sauce tasted mostly like tomatoes. Overall I probably wouldn't go back. read more

This is our go-to Mexican place in La Crosse (so much so that they've watched our toddler grow from a baby)! The food is great and well-priced. The margaritas are very good as well. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that the service can be a bit hit and miss sometimes (more hit than miss though) and the bicycle parking isn't good with only one tiny bike rack. read more

Was real good.Our group of three had the seafood plate, chicken nachos and I had the two steak taco dinner. Tacos plenty big for only two. Rice and beans decent. The chips and salsa on the table was very good including this white kinda creamy and subtle spicy salsa they give you. Margarita reportedly good and the michelada I had was very flavorful in a tall skinny beer mug. Service was top notch and the place was clean. Would go again. I believe this is the best Mexican in town, but it's getting harder and harder to get a table here and while I'm glad the business is doing well I'm salty at the idea that I might not get a table! Good salsa. This is the only Mexican restaurant in town that I know of that brings both salsa and white sauce with chips. Margaritas are tasty. I love the seafood vallarta. The cheese sauce is awesome - not that cheap, crappy, fake cheese tasting yuck that so many places serve. The fajitas come out still sizzling and steaming from the kitchen. My boyfriend is still working his way through the menu to try everything - he's that guy who likes to try everything on the menu. He's been pleased with everything so far.. The rice and beans are good - I hate it when the rice is hard, dry and chewy.... theirs is soft and more flavorful than what you usually get. The flavors are excellent. I believed it's the best Mexican in town. We've had nothing but excellent service. I love that I see the same people when I come in... I like that. Great place. Horrible customer service. I walked in and was asked how many. I said I wanted to place an order to go. I just wanted some chips and salsa and some chips and cheese dip as their entrees are really gross. I then had to stand there for five minutes while the hostess and manager discussed something on her phone. After they finished their annoying conversation she took my order with a huge sucker in her mouth. Which is super appealing when you can't make out anything she was saying. I got my sack of food which is $12 for two dips and a small bag of chips. I would assume I'd get two small bags or one decent size bag of chips when ordering two separate items that pretty much require chips. There's barely enough chips to finish the salsa, leaving cheese dip and no chips This is the last time I visit this place. They are lucky they are in la Crosse with limited competution, because they wouldn't last if they had any. And everyone giving good reviews have clearly never had good Mexican food. I've driven past this restaurant many times but finally decided to stop on in for lunch.The interior of the space is all brand new and the staff was very nice and welcoming. Our server was nice had a sense of humor, she also brought out the spicier salsa for us from the back. Like many other Mexican restaurants, we were served with some tortilla chips and salsa. I ordered the 2 shrimp tacos which was only okay in my opinion. The shrimp didn't seem to have much flavor and I really had to add spicy salsa to give it any flavor. Also, the tacos were served with only one tortilla per taco so all the ingredients easily ripped through the tortilla. I ended up having to eat the taco with a fork, scooping up a little bit of each ingredient with every bite. It wasn't a deal breaker but it was definitely a bit annoying. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch today and got seated right away, place was a little busy but plenty of seating available. I received the menu and asked the server which seafood item was more popular the chimichunga or the seafood vallerata. She said the valletta was very popular so I went ahead and ordered that and a side of guacamole for my chips. The guacamole was pretty good and tasted fresh but the chips were a little stale like they had been in the kitchen in the humidity too much. Then the entree came out. It had rice, side salad and two of the flour tortilla seafood wraps with the cheese sauce. They were pretty flat and did not appear to be much seafood in them. I opened them up and found 3 small pieces of cut up over cooked tasteless shrimp in one of them and about 3 oz. of imitation crab which I expected but I expected whole grilled shrimp in them for the price of 10.99. I can make better at home. The other tortilla was worse. If it costs more to put in whole shrimp that are cooked properly then charge more. Overall the dish was lacking and I would never order that again. I did order the fried ice cream, that was decent and the cost on that was 4.99. I had to order that as I was starving as I did not eat the entree. Would not go back again, If you go order carefully. I did attach pictures read more

I have ate here twice. The first time my dad and boyfriend loved it but I didn't like my meal. I also tried something I never had before, some sort of pulled pork burrito something lol I'm not sure but either way, I didn't like it. Now that doesn't make it a bad restaurant by any means so I tried it again! The second time I got the beef chimichanga!! Sooo, good !! I love their habanero hott sauce and they always put some in the bag for me in our to go orders. They also put salsa and chips.. and ranch lol we have yet to figure out why they put ranch in the bag haha The salsa and chips aren't the best but over all, love it!! Clean bright open environment. Friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable prices especially $5 lunch menu. Good-sized portions. Casual. Good for kids. We LOVE this place when we come to La Crosse a few times a year. The food is solid, it is always spotlessly clean, the prices are a BARGAIN for the quality and portions, but we miss our favorite server. He was an older guy... We had him as a server at a beer place in the past. What we loved about him was how he described the food, knew the menu inside out, and took the time to explain how dishes, sauces, etc... were made... and went to find out answers if he didn't know off-hand. We could tell from how customers seated near us seemed so happy to see him.. and how he treated them that our experience obviously wasn't out of the ordinary for his tables. We even saw him take the time to check in on other tables and let them give him a hug... watching him interact with children was priceless! It was First Class restaurant service in a place you wouldn't expect it. The drop in stars are due to the drop in service. The current staff is friendly enough... they take orders, deliver food... not much else. We know that people come and go... please do what you can to bring him back! Good food will bring people back occasionally... excellent service like he provided makes people WANT to come back. read more

Definitely one of our favorite restaurants that we frequent. Everyone is so nice, no matter when we've come here they've been so sweet and helpful. My favorite dish to order is the Chicken Fajita platter. It comes with rice, Refried Beans and Tortillas. The Fajitas are seasoned nicely and charred nicely. The Veggies also have so much flavor. Another thing I thoroughly enjoy is the spicy ranch sauce they serve with the Tortilla chips its delicious. We will continue coming here it is amazing and the prices are fantastic for the yummy food. read more

Our food was just ok. Burrito comes with queso sauce from a can, refried beans from a can. Fajitas were sizzling hot but very average. Had to wait 20 minutes for my beer, my wife had nearly finished her margarita...issue with tap, but no offer to change order until I grabbed a waitress and firmly asked for something else, nothing done to make it right. The Onalaska location is simply outstanding-people, atmosphere and food! Try the mango margaritas, and the burrito de carnitas and the chori pollo! The place was renovated and looks absolutely amazing now. The menus and tables are always clean and the staff is always friendly.
