The final straw for me was when they left my daughter to cry for 20 minutes claiming she's "spoiled" where another parent had to come inform me of the neglect. I had to not only remove my child but also contact OEC. Go on the 211 website you'll see the report. They had staff who were inexperienced with childcare handling my child along with having small babies with older toddlers. I just did not feel as if my child was safe and that's why I removed her. She's at a much more safer daycare with cameras.

The teachers are nice and have a good curriculum, but it doesn't vary from year to year, so if your child goes for multiple years they repeat the same songs/experiments/projects every year. It is a private, not-for-profit school, and that is good and bad. The good thing is their is a volunteer Board that handles the finances, policies, etc for the school. The bad side of that is children with behavioral issues (physically aggressive with others, excessive crying from separation issues) take a large amount of time and attention from the teachers, leaving the rest of the students with less direct teaching and adult interactions. The first year there was a floater teacher/teachers aid that was very helpful in these situations, but that position didn't exist in the 2nd and 3rd year for us. We would have gone elsewhere for the 3rd year but Covid restrictions kept our preferred school from opening. The room has multiple stations that kids can choose to play with items like play doh/floam, a water station, painting, play kitchen, etc, so they choose where they spend time, and then there is something teacher-led for the children to interact with the teacher. It's nice for kids to pick what they do, but there isn't a structure in place to ensure kids participate in the teacher-led portion, and if that is where the true curriculum planned for the day or week happens, it's possible your child is just playing all day. That's fine for part of the time, but we found it happened a lot more frequently than we wanted. We were looking for social interaction as well as teaching kindergarten preparation skills, and we ended up teaching most of the skills at home. There was a change in the Director position during our time there, and we did not feel that the new Director had the same skills or strengths as the previous one, and we did not agree with the handling of classroom issues that indirectly impacted our child. Maybe with time this will improve, but we were often frustrated or disappointed in the processes in place.

The entire place seemed to genuinely care about the well being of my child. They have church service 1x a week, and say prayers daily (and The Pledge). My family is not catholic but that was okay. Instruction included music and gym. We had trouble affording the uniform and they allowed us to use used ones until we could buy them. Tuition can be made in payments. And the lunches are varied which is nice. While my child was in Kindergarten, I saw the older kids in the hallway. They were all so respectful. Overall, a very positive experience. If I HAD to come up with a negative, I would elect for gym class more often, and add foreign language instruction at the lower 'grades'

They just installed brand new wooden floors (2017) which is an added bonus. Outdoor play area is also very well-organized and clean. 3) Curriculum based learning: In toddler class, they have a 'theme' each month/week and kids learn from story time, art, and fun activities. For example, if the theme is 'camping' for the week, kids will learn about 'camping' by setting up tents indoors, making smores/pretend campfire, singing and dancing to songs, making art with fall leaves, and of course reading stories. She is the therapist of my daughter caught in an ugly custody battle. She is supposed to be bridging the Gap between truth and lies and helping our family repair and move past and instill a sense of security in both her parents to our daughter, so she can feel good about herself and both parents....instead of an impartial, healing focused approach, she has seen the father and daughter 90% more than mother and daughter. She cancelled two appointments that were 6 weeks apart and then could only reschedule for another 6 weeks for a total of 3 and a half months of not meeting with mother and daughter. And when I, the mother expressed my distress of relationship issues and lack of help, all through TEXTS not personally, she finally met with us and when I asked to speak with her alone, she actually rolled her eyes at me and said,"you have two minutes." I felt so rushed and unimportant and as I expressed that she raised her voice, yelled at me that the conversation was over and then she flat out lied and said I missed an appt and that she only cancelled one, she is taking sides to the point of causing harm. It's a shame that the hypocratic oath to do no harm is not applicable to the mental health professionals. Do not trust this UNprofessional. If you look up the roles of a family therapist you will agree that she not only failed our family but was and is destroying my daughter's need to trust and feel safe with both parents!!!
