TMA is a very special and unique school. The infrastructure (planetarium, radio station, space observation stations, science labs,...) is not common in K-9 schools. The hands on experience programs are a treat for our daughter. We are amazed by how the programs and faculty members challenge her and support her learning needs. She loves the school, get excited every morning, and literally has cried on the school last day - as she explained that summer will be boring without her friends and teachers. I would not recommend The Learning Experience in Newington. Our experience there was extremely…read moredisappointing and concerning as a parent. The overall environment lacked professionalism and respect. Several staff members were disrespectful when communicating with both parents and children, which is unacceptable in a place that is supposed to support young kids. It often felt like concerns were brushed off rather than taken seriously. One of the biggest issues was the lack of supervision. Teachers were frequently on their phones instead of actively watching the children. In a daycare setting, supervision should always be the top priority, and it was alarming to see how often this seemed to be ignored. Unfortunately, the leadership from the director did not improve these issues. A daycare director should model professionalism and ensure a safe and respectful environment, but that did not seem to be happening. Some of the concerns included: * Allowing teachers to be on their phones while supervising children * Failing to ensure proper supervision in classrooms * Not addressing staff behavior when it is unprofessional or disrespectful * Dismissing or minimizing parent concerns instead of investigating them * Poor communication with families * Lack of accountability for staff actions * Creating an environment where staff do not appear to be held to high standards A daycare director should be actively ensuring that children are safe, staff are attentive, and parents feel comfortable raising concerns. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here. Parents trust childcare centers with the most important thing in their lives, their children. Professionalism, supervision, and respectful communication should be the bare minimum, and sadly those expectations were not met in our experience.
