    Seafood kabob
    Susan S.

Sea Harvest is a restaurant and fish market. For the restaurant, you order at the counter and get a little device when your order is ready for you to pick up at the counter. Super casual, but good, fresh seafood. I had the seafood kabob which had a whitefish, salmon, and a prawn along with onion and bell peppers, served with rice and steamed veggies. All very good. My friend had fried clams, which came with French fries and cole slaw. Unlike New England fried clams, these were in little strips. Not as good as those enjoyed in New England, but still pretty good. All considered, a tasty lunch. They have indoor seating and outdoor seating and parking was easy in their little lot.

Stopped by on Friday 6/19 for an early lunch at about 11:45 am. The outdoor patio was pretty full but indoor seating was plentiful. At about 12:30, the interior was full. Interior is small and simple but that worked for us. This place is a fish market but also serves food and sells miscellaneous items (shirts, dog snacks). You order at the counter, find seating, and are given a pager. Utensils and napkins are available on the counter for you take what you need. Items ordered: Pint of clam chowder x2- Just okay for me. Plenty of clams but some had sand. Combination fish and chips- Delicious and the fries were good. Kids chicken tenders- Kiddo enjoyed this and his fries Special salmon patties and grilled shrimp with rice and veggies- 2 Salmon patties that tasted okay (I am not a huge cooked salmon fan but will try something different on occasion), 2 garlic shrimp, rice, and plenty of veggies. Garlic bread- Bread was light and not super dense. I also liked that this was not cheesy. Fish and chips- Generous amount of delicious fish and fries.

It's a walk up and order place- nothing fancy. Got the combo fish, shrimp, calamari and chips. It was fine. Shrimp was under cooked so we did not finish it. Liked the patio seating.

Surprisingly empty on a Saturday afternoon, came after a rough spartan race. Prices were affordable which I always thought any town by the sea would be expensive but then again this wasn't right by the ocean. Was a good feeling meal for the price just got some basic fish and chips and fish tacos which were both good. Loved the fish on the fish n chips tho but it is more on the oily side. Calamari was a little different than expected, personally wasn't a fan of it. They have outdoor seating as well after you walk in which was nice being outdoors. Solid solid spot for a coast town restaurant. Ugh didn't get a picture of my tacos :(

The fish & chips were excellent - the batter was exactly how I liked... light, crispy, beer battered! The fish was moist inside. The petrale sole was nicely grilled with a crisp carmelized exterior. The fish was flaky and moist. Clam chowder was really good too. Nice, creamy, chunky texture with nice pieces of clam. We spent about $60 for everything. This is a no-frills place and we really enjoyed the food. Definitely a highlight of our trip being from LA.

Stopped here for a quick lunch, extremely fresh and fast. We ordered fish tacos, calamari, oysters and some beers. Everything was quick, there was a long line so plan accordingly. The outside seating is first come first serve.

When we were in Monterey for a conference I googled where do locals eat seafood and Sea Harvest popped up. It's a no frills seafood market and restaurant. You get in line, choose your seafood and the way you want it prepared. Grab a drink from the fridge and pay. Then find a seat either inside or outside. Wait for your buzzer to chime. I chose the bay scallops, fried. My husband got fish and chips. The portions are huge. And the prices are way less than cannery row. There's a small parking lot as well as street parking. The bathrooms are outside which was a little odd.

Good place to stop by for a fresh seafood lunch - just be aware that you need to grab a table first before you can order food for dine-in or otherwise you can do take out. You order up at the counter - be sure to check out their daily specials. I had the grilled prawns and salmon patty special which came with rice and vegetables. The prawns had a delicious garlic butter sauce on them and the salmon patties were pretty good. My husband had the fried rockfish sandwich which came with fries and coleslaw. Tasty lunch overall!

Clam Chowder. On my lunch break.

Food wasn't bad. I had ordered the clam chowder since I was craving it, & the Baja tacos... since it had been a min since I had fish tacos. I had it grilled, but maybe next time I'll try it fried. I would def add more sauce & Coleslaw. Maybe even more flavor as well. ;) Also, perfect spot to shop for your seafood!! Service was fair. Ambiance was ok. Small indoors, but more space in the back.

I was looking to avoid Cannery Row inflation prices and have a good fish and chips before heading back down south. The prices were a great deal and the fish for sale on display motivated me to get the combination platter which did not disappoint. Very fresh, comes out piping hot. Super succulent prawns and great cod and calamari strips. The coleslaw portion is comically small, but let's be real - who's here for the coleslaw? Great beer battered fries and the come with all the fixings - cocktail sauce, tartar, and malt vinegar. I love the mix of indoor and outdoor seating, all on nautical theme. Service was quick, not the most cheery and the cashier was on his phone a little bit, which is slightly unsanitary; but I got what came looking for.

We went back to Sea Harvest after many years. Food quality seems to have gone up and now they have seating outside in a back patio. They have a small lot with parking, which is fine if you get there early. You pick up a menu from the counter and order, then grab a table and wait for the buzzer to go off. The space is casual and stuff is served on paper plates, so this is not a date night place! It's really cute with all of their nautical themed decorations. They also have a bunch of merchandise and food related gift items, if you're looking for the perfect souvenir. Employees were friendly and helpful. We ordered these items: Fish and Chips - highly recommended! They're fresh and have that classic flavor you're craving. We saw a lot of folks getting this one. Not a surprise! You get 4 hearty pieces, hot and crisp. The "chips" had a bit of batter and were crisp on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. Perfect! Comes with a tiny scoop of coleslaw. Sablefish with butter - the person at the counter said it just came in today. It was super fresh and cooked just perfectly. Sablefish isn't super fatty nor dry, it's just perfect. Veggies were fresh and cooked throughly with just a touch of crunch. Rice pilaf is quite flavorful and delicious, just a touch greasy, but in a good way! Sand Dabs - DH noticed this special after we already ordered, but he couldn't resist. Cost was based on weight + $8 for cooking. They were lightly battered and absolutely delicious. Clam Chowder (smallest size) - surprisingly good too. They must've improved their recipe since the last time we ate here. It's very thick and hearty with delicious, sweet, small pieces of clam. Overall, a fun place for a fresh, casual meal. You'll need to bus your own table after eating. Bathrooms are outside in the back. It's not as crowded as the fancier restaurants. Kids loved the food. We'll be back!

My husband and i looked at places to visit during our Monterey trip this month weeks in advance and we came across sea harvest. This place is a little hidden gem!! We tried so many different things off the menu and every single thing was delicious! We live 2.5 hours away and already are planing on making the trek back just for sea harvest. Also our 9 year old son said they have the best chicken strips he's ever tried in his life. So if you have a picky eater that doesn't venture from chicken strips and fries, apparently this is also the place lol!

Parking is sparse in front of the restaurant but paid parking is nearby. We entered and wow, the place was busy. Not overwhelming but lots of people in the indoor dining area enjoying their food. The menu is overheard and we decided what we wanted and ordered. The employees were kind and helpful, we probably were the only people that didn't speak Spanish well in the restaurant but that wasn't an issue, SCW got the number 2 combo, I got the mole. Also ordered an appetizer. Seated and waited about 10 minutes and our order came out. Everything was freaking amazing. Such great flavors and so fresh. Even SCW who doesn't necessarily gravitate towards Mexican food made nom nom nom sounds the whole time. The mole was incredible, the best I've ever had. The whole time we were here it was an endless stream of customers, even late lunch hour. SCW was impressed by the contrast stream of people coming in. We even walked around the wharf nearby for a while and drove past again and it was still packed with people. Do yourself a favor and visit El Cantato. I know I will.

It took our party (8 people) a while to decide as we were spoiled with choices. But we had time as it was pretty busy for a Friday around 1. I ended up getting the carne asada nachos and the aqua Fresca that they had that day (mango and watermelon I think). Both were absolutely spectacular. The picture included might not show the best scale but I had 2 others helping me to eat this plate and otherwise I would not have been able to finish it (even as a larger man). The crunchy jalapeños with the chips, beans and guacamole were the perfect balance. As a meat eater, the texture of the faux meat was a touch odd, but the flavor more than made up for it. The staff was helpful and attentive even as they were balancing supporting customers, answer phone orders, and taking regular orders. My wife and will definitely be stopping by here more often!!

I mentioned breakfast burritos and as quick as that, the kids forgot all about those crappy waffles. We stopped in and ordered a variety of burritos and bowls. Everyone, including my pickiest 11 yr old, were satisfied with their meals. We had ordered extra burritos to enjoy later in the day as well, but some brazen seagulls nipped our afternoon snacks while we were combing the beach for sea glass! Ar least we got some good seaglass, right? Deliciously fresh, modestly priced, dare I say best kept secret? Reminds me of this wonderful multi-generational place I used to visit when I was a grad student in Santa Barbara. It's gone now, and I never expected to come across another establishment like that, so I was surprised that El Charrito awoke that part of me after so many years.
