It took months to get in and Dr. Abboud was not really listening to my situation. His solution was to order me thousands of dollars worth of tests. It started with simple breathing tests, which I had no issues with but he wanted two more tests that really had nothing to do with my cough. He also mentioned a sleep study before the breathing tests even concluded. They billed insurance over $5k for my visits which ended up being $2k out of pocket with no resolution for my issue. On top of that, they just sent me an extra $400 bill 8 months later. Do not recommend.

After meeting with Dr. Gupta and another larger medical facility in the area, I knew that he saw me as an individual and that I would receive personalized care. He ensured that I received the proper tests so we knew exactly what I was dealing with, and personally called me to go over the test results and to discuss when I ran into an unusual side effect. The nursing staff is phenomenal - the oncology nurses are compassionate and caring and guidance on what to expect when you leave the office. Whenever I called with a question, the nurses were responsive and either had an answer or got one from Dr. Gupta when needed. I am several years out from treatment and he continues to be a Godsend. He has a confidence that puts you at ease, is up to date on the latest advancements, and can read when a paitent is struggling with making decisions and needs to hear different perspectives.

They have been working together for decades and have been through three Philadelphia area health systems. The first was Temple, whose transplant program was shut down - then Jefferson, and now Penn. Rubin is a terrible physician. Has the personality of a social worker, which is good, but not technically competent. She can struggle to explain some things to patients. Most importantly, she is not there when you need her. My father had been seeing her for a number of years; however, when he had a massive heart attack, he was left minimally conscious. We had questions about how his cardiac impairment would limit his chances of survival given the option to discontinue life support. The hospital where he ended up did not have his full medical records and history despite requests. Our family attempted a million calls to Dr. Rubin and her office. The nurse told us that she had given her the messages and was praying for my father, but nothing further. This took place over six weeks or so and we kept calling, so plenty of time to return the calls. Not a single call to Dr. Rubin was answered - not one. Also, while she was at Jefferson, Rubin was required to do rounds and patient visits for a time with a pharmacist and nurse in the room with her. I am unsure what that was all about. Mather runs the show and Rubin is along for the ride. Mather's lower on personality. He only saw my father a couple of times when Rubin was away. He ran the Heart Failure Institute. My observations of the Heart Failure Institute were that the people getting heart transplants seemed to be mostly white and people who were put on then-experimental therapies (i.e., long-term LVAD, which required them to live in the hospital pretty much for the duration of their lives) were black. This partly speaks to the lack of availability of transplant organs for people of color; however, I never saw anyone white walking around with a long-term LVAD. (The patients exercised by walking through the other cardiac wards in the hospital.) The father of someone I went to high school with was able to get a heart transplant through this group. He is white and his heart failure was due to alcohol dependence, interestingly enough. Trust me, you don't want to be in the situation my family was in with the lack of communication/avoidance in tough end-of-life situations, so avoid Dr. Sharon Rubin.

And one of the reasons that I picked Christiana care hospital is because it is on the HRC website , all places should make all people feel welcomed.

The short version: Dr. Sandler is THE BEST! The long version: I had not had a regular doctor for several years. I came to see Dr. Sandler in 2005 due to some odd symptoms I had been experiencing for a number of months. Although it was unusual for her since she had just met me, she suggested I have an MRI based on a physical and our conversation about my symptoms. An MRI?! I thought that was ridiculous, but humored her, anyway. The following week, the MRI results came back indicating "possible multiple sclerosis". While I would prefer not to have this disease, I am eternally grateful to Dr. Sandler for using her (significant) intelligence, medical knowledge and medical intuition to arrive at that diagnosis. Many people go untreated for years without treatment since MS symptoms can resemble other health. I was a patient of Dr. Sandler's for the next 2 - 3 years until moving to LA. My wife and I have been debating whether or not to move back to PA in the future. While I prefer the weather in LA, I told her that being able to be have Dr. Sandler as a physician, again, would be a big plus if we ever moved back. Dr. Sandler is a wonderfully talented physician who is very caring about her patients. I highly recommend her as a doctor and a person and wish she were located in LA.
