We wanted to cook, so we walked to Food Pantry ( the local grocery store) and were able to get everything we needed. If you have a car, you can go to Walmart for groceries, and it is much cheaper. :) We went and did the Maui Diver's tour, then walked to Walmart, which was down the street! It was free! Then the shuttle took us back home! Anyway, the condo was nice, clean, and had enough supplies (paper towels, toilet paper, towels, beach towels, and beach mats) for the whole week. There is no maid service, but we don't usuallly have our rooms cleaned until the end, anyway. The bathroom looked remodeled, and was super nice! Who likes to use a run down toilet? Not me, that's for sure! They also just installed a FOB system, which is added security for the place! They also have glass doors that lock after business hours. Nick had met with us to give us the keys and a tour of the place. He was great! Super friendly and extremely informative. We stayed in room 1703. Nick was wonderful! He communicated with us through the entire process from booking the room, arrival, during our stay and once we departed. The accommodations are clean and comfortable with all the amenities of home. It is in the heart of Waikiki and my husband loves to hear and watch the hustle and bustle of the streets below. Everything is in walking distance. My only complaint would be the bed, it is a VERY firm bed...my husband LOVED it...I ended up sleeping on the couch which was much more comfortable for my pregnant body. Beds are always a personal preference.

Tenants respect quite times. In the year I've lived here I've seen only 3 bugs in my apartment. Remember this is Hawaii and bugs do exist but there is personal responsibility involved in keeping your apartment clean. If you don't clean you're likely to see bugs, as you would anywhere. The maintenance staff responds quickly to any issues and are respectful and friendly when they are working in your unit or on the grounds. Nik, the manager, has been at her position here for over 10 years. As a former landlord myself, I know the difficulties dealing with tenants on a daily basis can pose. Niki deserves a 5 star rating for her professionalism and her compassion for those struggling during the pandemic. When I faced a personal victory she stood and applauded me. When a faced a very difficult personal situation her door was always open. Madison, the assistant manager is very helpful and knowledgeable and always ready to help. Many of you reading this will be coming from the mainland and renting online as I did. I can assure the experience will be a good one. The one draw back is the construction of a multi unit complex on the south side of the building which management has no control over. While the benefits will be great once it's completed, it does pose some noise issues. When I was bothered by it I was immediately offered a unit on the other side of the building and now I rarely hear anything. For those that work outside the home it shouldn't be an issue because construction only occurs during weekday working hours.

I had toured Walina Apartments many years ago before they were renovated but ended up going somewhere else at that time. Coming back to the island I had seen ads for Walina on Craig's list showing the beautifully renovated units and I was excited to get the application process rolling. All the units are studios, there is a nice elevator and hallways to access the units (not a walk up building). Since I was out of state my hubby and I completed the application process online. It was easy to follow and were happy that a unit was available when we needed to move in. The unit we were moving to had nice grey wood vinyl plank flooring, white and grey granite counters in the kitchen and bathroom. There was no oven but had a glass top 2 burner stove, stainless steel fridge and built in microwave. The cabinets were updated cherry and the bathroom was updated with a rain shower head and nice tile. The unit was small, 360 sqft, but we sold everything to come back to Hawaii so we didn't have much stuff. We were excited to put down a deposit electronically to hold the apartment. So moving day had come, we arrived on Oahu and ubered over to the building to sign the lease and get the keys. The leasing office is just inside the front door and I was greeted with a smile by Joanna who got all the paperwork sorted. The building hallways were clean and smelling good. I was happy to find there was a garbage shoot and the elevator was pretty quick. Everything in the unit was the way it looked in the photos. The only thing we needed to have taken care of was the light bulb being replaced over the stove in the microwave. I talked with Nikki in the leasing office and she was so friendly and attentive. She said she would schedule the maintenance request and Randy came to replace the bulb within a couple hours. We have had a great experience living at Walina apartments. There is a laundry room in the basement that works with a card that you load money onto, no quarters thankfully. We have neighbors next to us but we never hear any noise from them. The leasing office and main hallway was recently renovated and look beautiful. I walk the dog multiple times a day and every time I see Nikki, Madison or Randy they always are friendly and nice. The residents in the building have also been so kind, always looking out for each other and offering to help. I definitely feel the aloha here even though we are in the city. We are looking to renew our lease and I talked to Madison in the leasing office. She has been so friendly and informative about our options. I know with Nikki and Madison we are in good hands. They genuinely care about the building and the tenants. I highly recommend Walina Apartments for someone with a pet that wants a renovated, safe studio apartment in Waikiki!

There is limited parking around the complex, but owners have reserved parking and have access to limited guest parking. The single bedroom apartments run about $1,200-$1,500 per month (living in Waikiki is so expensive!) but the convenience of living in waikiki may be worth it to some people. The best part is that you are right in the middle of Waikiki with an easy five minute stroll to the beautiful beaches of Waikiki. We recently vacated our unit at Lilia Waikiki after being forced out due to uninhabitable living…read moreconditions caused by their negligent maintenance team. Under Hawaii Revised Statutes §521-42, landlords are required to maintain rental premises in a habitable condition at all times during the tenancy -- a legal obligation Brookfield Properties has failed to meet. In early June 2026, maintenance came to replace a microwave and discovered warped floorboards. Over the course of a week they cut 10 holes throughout our unit walls searching for the source of the leak while running a commercial DrizAir 1200 dehumidifier continuously -- with zero protective coverings placed over any furniture, belongings, or surfaces. This caused pervasive drywall dust and particulate matter contamination throughout our entire unit -- into our mattresses, couch, closets, cabinets, dresser drawers, and all personal belongings. This continued until we vacated on June 18, 2026. Under Hawaii Revised Statutes §521-42, landlords are required to maintain rental premises in a habitable condition at all times during the tenancy. Brookfield Properties has failed to meet this obligation. Both of our queen Tuft & Needle mint hybrid mattresses, cloud couch, air purifiers/new filters, and many other items were completely destroyed and not salvageable. Our brand new Dyson air purifier filters were depleted within a single week -- filters designed to last 9-12months under normal conditions. When we reported the uninhabitable conditions in writing and proposed a mutual lease termination, management denied it and claimed the equipment posed no health risk -- despite visible contamination throughout the entire unit. It took weeks of emails, formal notices citing HRS §521-42, and threatening legal action before they finally came back and offered to mutually dissolve the lease -- without any financial compensation. This was after almost a month where we could barely use our own apartment and had to pay out of pocket for alternative housing/hotels and moving costs. We asked for a full refund of June rent since the unit was essentially uninhabitable the entire month starting June 2, 2026, plus partial reimbursement for the property damage they caused -- not even the full amount, or any of the additional costs caused by their negligence, which we felt was more than fair given the extent of the damage and the financial burden this placed on us. They have yet to agree to those reasonable terms. To date our total damages -- including June rent, last-minute moving costs, temporary housing costs due to being displaced from a non-livable environment, and property damage -- amount to approximately $29,000. Should we be required to continue paying July and August rent, that number will increase to approximately $41,000. These damages are a direct result of the negligence of Lilia Waikiki/Brookfield Properties, who failed to properly contain drywall dust during the repair and ran fans/dehumidifier throughout the process, causing widespread contamination of our unit. We have thorough documentation and recordkeeping of all correspondence, photos, videos, photographic documentation of air purifier readings showing hazardous air quality levels, and photo and video documentation of the severe property damage to our mattresses, couch, and other personal belongings throughout this matter. We do not recommend this building to anyone.
