Aloha peeps! My vacation in Honolulu was a blast thanks in part to the Waikiki Banyan. My room, which was on the 16th floor, had a beautiful view of the Ala Wai Canal, Manoa Valley and the mountains beyond. The room was well appointed and included a full kitchen, living room, bedroom and balcony. The location of the hotel was minutes away and a short walk to Waikiki Beach, the Honolulu Zoo and the International Marketplace. It was also close to Kapahulu Avenue which gave me easy access to the freeway when I was ready to head out for a drive around the island. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and have already rebooked the room for a return visit later this year.

Stay at the Waikiki Banyan last 12 trips. Our new favorite since 2020. Property Manager keeps the unit well maintained. Big plus in Unit T2-3110 is there's a UV/Carbon water filter installed and we drink a lot of water daily at no bottle water cost because Property Manager includes stainless steel water bottles. (Photos of the unit from the listing. AirBnB T2-3110)

A fun place to eat, especially on Mondays when The Barefoot Boys perform. Outside seating, No reservations. Short walk from the Banyan.

We are long time visitors to Hawaii. We have stayed many places but we have stayed here the last two times and will stay here again in Sept. The rooms we get are full kitchens and roomy. Is a block or two back from the beach but we have had partial ocean view when there. One of the reasons we have stayed there is because we do get parking. The front desk is very friendly. It is just E of being centrally located on Wikiki beach but definitly walkable (we don't use our car except to take day trips which we do alot). To date we have not had any issues with the elevators. We tend to go off season but in Dec we were there from the 16th until the 25th. Lots of people. But again no problems. Close to the zoo, Kapiolani Park.

this was such a fun treat!!! I am vegan so its hard finding good places to eat in waikiki

This place had very simple check in and check out with door codes! Brilliant! The views were spectacular if you get lucky enough to have ocean views you can watch the surfers on their waves from your balcony! The room I was in equally shared a view with diamond head which was the best of both worlds! The bed in the bedroom was comfortable and I love that they had dividers from the living room area! I also enjoyed having a kitchen so I can make breakfast in the morning!

This property is mixed HOA and hotel. Tower 1 unit 1509 is not managed by the hotel, therefore do not expect housekeeping services, fresh linen, or towels. Be ready to be your own house keeper! We arrived after 10pm on a Thursday and our door code was not working. Went to the front desk to ask for help and they told us to call the number on the confirmation email because that unit was privately owned and managed by another company. We called the after hours number on the email, and after being on hold for ten minutes, they instructed us on how to reprogram the entry lock keypad. The unit was a huge disappointment, it was filthy and smelled like mildew and sewage. The bathroom was the worst! We had to maintain the door shut at all times to contain the smell. The towels provided were old and dirty. All the dish towels in the kitchen smelled rancid. The stove was dirty and the fridge froze everything we put in it. The pictures online for KOKO Resort are not accurate. And don't even get me started on the pool, there were used bandaids floating in this foggy water. STAY AWAY! Spend the extra money and stay at the Hilton.

Da Scene: Very fortunate to remote work from Northern California for a month to be home for the holidays. Spent 1st 3 weeks where else... da Banyan! Fond memories not just of weekend get-togethers of my youth, but several family stays over the years, the Waikiki Banyan has never disappointed. Da Stay: 1st 3 weeks of December 2020 was picture perfect weather, with daily sunrises and sunsets that just stunned you. We rarely cooked, mostly re-heated stuff, patronizing the many small businesses offering in Waikiki and Kaimuki. Onsite the pool, coffee shop and grocery store were great, only missing ICE, had to hit Longs or Foodland. 1 block from Waikiki beaches, steps form high-end and plate lunch dining. I honestly can't think of a better locale. Da Service: Staff were always helpful, safety was paramount. Security, Front Desk, store staff were all great. Although capacity did rise just before Christmas (lots of people all of a sudden) and we moved to another property for the last leg of our trip. Elevator rides varied with some patrons choosing to break protocols... not the facility's fault. On booking... BE CAREFUL. We were in unit 2014, a prime corner spot. We've booked all sorts of properties through VRBO and this was the 1st time we had any issues. They have always been great. 3rd party booking mgt. was RED Awning and I will NOT be booking any properties managed by them again. Ask if the property is actually managed by the owner or or another mgt. company. Will post separately for VRBO and Red Awning if possible. The Waikiki Banyan property itself? THEY RULE.

My friends and I did a staycation here for our little holiday get together. We loved the rooms because it was big enough for the 4 of us. It was a suite type room equipped with a full kitchen, fridge, a sofa couch, a dining table, two double beds, and full bathroom. It was spacious for us so we really felt at home. Their website, could use a little updating since some of their amenities were no longer there such as the Sauna and snack bar near the pool. The exterior of the hotel can use a little updating as well to make it look pleasing, but it was still a nice place. The location of the hotel, is convenient. Only a block away from the beach and about a 5 min walk away from the International Market Place. There are also a lot of eateries nearby as well. The hotel has its own coffee shop and mini mart downstairs. The only downside of the hotel was the parking and the elevators. The elevators take awhile, you are stuck waiting for awhile or even more than once as sometimes the elevators are full so you have to catch another one. They provide public parking as well so its mixed with the guests parking. We came back late one night and the parking garage was full. So their security guard had to direct us to find a spot on the lower level. We took one of the last two spots we saw, to which he told us, "I guess will be full after that one". Overall the hotel was adequate and we enjoyed our stay. FYI: They do Kama'aina discounts for room rates.

So can someone confirm if it is free parking or not?

Parking is not free, it's $30 / day. But if you are renting a unit from an owner and they purchased a parking pass, they might include it in your rental price.

Is it available for 4 nights only?

Best to check calendar for availability.

How far is the Waikiki Banyan from airport HNL?

About 10 miles. Depending of time of day, it's 25min+ drive.

Our journey as Diamondhead Sands residents began four years ago and we just moved out to build a house of our own, as we were sick of paying into the endless black abyss that is tenant rent. You will see from the pictures attached that this was a beautiful space for us to call home. We were lucky enough to have a Diamondhead view from the kitchen, a plumeria tree and Kapi'olani Park view from our bedroom, and a peek-a-boo ocean view from our lanai! The neighborhood is fully walkable with restaurants such as Bogart's, Da Cove Health Bar, Pioneer Saloon and Diamondhead Market and Grill to boast! Insider's tip...Diamondhead Market has the cheapest price in town for our favorite beer (Maui Double Overhead) and a pretty extensive beer and wine selection overall. In addition to drinks and eats, there are at least three parks, two gardens and a plethora of beaches within twenty minutes on foot. Waikiki is also right there, if you are into that madness. I must also add the weekly Friday night fireworks, which we took advantage of as often as possible. They begin during winter at 7:45 and summer at 8:00 each Friday evening. All in all, Diamondhead Sands was a phenomenal place to live. While being close to so many things, it is extremely safe and quiet. I highly recommend!

The pool being disgusting is one of the many reasons why they went through a lot of resident managers because the others weren't pulling their weight. I challenge anyone to look at the pool now. It's absolutely stunning! 3. It's a 60+ year old building so the fact that Frank and the board are taking the time to address issues for repair to bring this old building into the 21st century is remarkable, But of course an owner would appreciate and understand this more than a renter because the value of their property is going up. 4. They have vestibules on each end of the corridors with trash bins that people dump in. Every morning the maintenance guy comes and empties it. That's the equivalent of having a trash chute. The doors closed ensure the smell doesn't go into the units. Overall Sky Tower is an amazing complex with a diverse community. Sure it's not a luxury condo, but it's a step above your average multi dwelling unit. Frank may have his faults but so does everyone else, we're not perfect, and he CARES about the building and the people in it. I wholeheartedly recommend the building to anyone who is interested in buying/renting and its amazing staff to back it up!

You do get an amazing view, but you can't open any windows; so yes, you're stuck with the AC being on 24/7. ALSO, if the power goes out, you have no other source of ventilation/cooling. As others have said, the walls are stupidly thin. We were in a unit about a nightclub/bar, I think it was called Scarlet's? Anyways, despite being over 20 floors up, we could HEAR the music, people yelling, etc. Not just that, the unit next to me, had a domestic dispute, so I heard them arguing and then one of them kicking the front door in. Our unit was also missing some vanity fixtures, and despite being there for a year, we never received them. The fire alarms kept going off, so it was impossible to tell if it was a real emergency situation or just mechanical/electrical error. The parking is also small and expensive for you (as the tenant). It's also expensive for visitors as there is no visitor parking, so my family/friends wouldn't visit often despite us being in a prime, beautiful location. We also had an issue with management and an incident that happened on property. A tenant had gotten into a confrontation with my husband in the elevator, then proceeded to vandalize his car and threaten us. PS - my child was with my husband and in the car as this person punched and hit my husband's car with a parking cone. We even had police escort us home as we were afraid that this individual would actually come after our family. Anyways, management did little to ease our worries. PROS: I really like…read morethe apartment, it is roomy, well laid out - believe it or not, the complex was designed by a young Cezar Pelli. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%C3%A9sar_Pelli We got a three bedroom with a huge lanai which has been great for having friends over or just working and hanging out. I can live with the area, I work right downtown and it is super convenient. I love the maintenance guys, they are wonderful...big shout out to them they work hard and keep smiling. (Unfortunately I needed maintenance a lot, see cons). It's been a great spot for my dog and he has made many doggie friends. I love the chickens and baby chicks (feel free to move this to cons if that's not you). Most of my neighbors are very nice and I enjoy kids (kids see cons). The community is a mix of families, many I expect on section 8, students, and some professionals (like me). I really liked Jennifer who helped me with the leasing process and the folks that call when maintenance needs to come in are efficient, friendly, and I believe do their best to help. CONS: I had a plumbing issue for the first three or four months, it was disgusting, the tub would back up with gunk and hair and debris coming from the next door apartment. Finally after maintenance came about 25 times I complained loudly to management and they finally got an outside plumber to come in and fix it. Now there are small blips but mostly the plumbing is fine. If you don't like kids (or kid sounds) beware because the culture seems to be to allow kids to be up late, late, late into the night at least in the summer. I have 5 kids next door aged 2-9 and they literally kept me up until 2am many summer nights. To make it worse, kids need sleep and these kids were exhausted ALL THE TIME, so they screamed and cried...a lot. Sleep is a very important thing. Oh and yes, cockroaches! But note they will send an exterminator. I will say that worst experience so far (which may sound a bit silly) is how I have been treated by the leasing team as I decide if I will stay, go, or move to a smaller unit. I guess I had this crazy idea that they would want to keep a decent tenant paying market rate rent. But they REALLY do not seem to care. I went to the office to ask about moving to a smaller unit and was told that although I'd been living here a year and my circumstances hadn't changed, I'd still need to create a completely separate new application for the lower priced unit. Could I transfer some of my $2,575.00 security deposit to a smaller unit? Nope, AND in addition to the new application AND new deposit they also want a $500 deposit to secure a new place that I can't see. If there was any budge or anything done to make it any easier for me to stay here than go somewhere else, I'd probably have done it but there was absolutely NO effort made. But honestly, it wasn't even the policies making it just as difficult to re-rent here as to go elsewhere...but rather the attitude that made it clear to me that I didn't matter to them and that they were perfectly happy to see me go...if even one person in the office had said "we'd love to keep you" it would have made a difference. MP

They did not. We also have video of the walk through inspection. Not only did they keep our entire security deposit they attempted to charge us a cleaning fee, as well as charge us for replacing the entire apartments floor. When called out and even presented with a demand letter from an attorney the "management" will consistently be out of office, away, and not reply to any emails. And then when they reply again after enough time has passed they will say "it has been longer than a year" The goal is to take advantage of people who are busy, pcs, or do not know any better. The one thing they did right was spray for roaches but take a look under all the cabinets if you still decide you want to give this place your money. The security gates are never secured, the rfid keys never work, security is non existent so when you are stuck at the gate good luck. I would go on, but at the point they will steal your deposit there is no reason to consider living here, ever.
