LOVE LOVE the crab sandwich. Worth every penny. It was light and made to perfection. The fish and chips was also very good. The batter was excellent not soggy or too heavy it was honestly the best I had in a long time. I was able to get something to eat while my kids played in the arcade. Got a margarita and even that was delicious. Over all the location is great over looks the beach and connects to the arcade. The staff was so nice. There was a lady who came out from the back to talked to us about our order and even gave my girls a lemon and lime icee to try. Apparently we are the first to order the crab sandwich this year. It made the experience that much more awesome. This will be our go to spot when visiting next time. Highly recommend. We visited the Santa Cruz boardwalk on a Sunday and checked out Seaside Fish & Chowder. Everything is self-serve. Order and pickup at the cashier. Bus your own table. The food: Seafood Combo - this was surprisingly good. Shrimp and Fish were fried really well and the fries were fine. I would definitely order this again. Popcorn Chicken - big drop-off from the Seafood Combo. The exterior was a tougher breading. The inside chicken was ok. Chowder Bread Bowl - I feel like every bread bowl place never gives enough chowder and this restaurant is no different. Aside from that the chowder was really under seasoned and there was very little seafood flavor. It was a very vegetable forward chowder, which did not meet my expectations. If we're ever back in the area, I would like to try the crab sandwich, that looked pretty good. I would also stick with the fried seafood items. read more

My friend ordered a corndog and it took about 20-30 minutes; staff says it depends on the item availability. The fish has a crispy batter and fries are nice and hot. The tables were relatively clean inside, although about half the tables still had crumbs and such on it so we had to brush it off inside. The food came about ~10 minutes later, but sitting inside while being able to look at the waves outweighed this easy slot for families. In terms of the food, the clam chowder bowls were cut far deeper than usual, leading there to be an uneven ratio with more bread than chowder. Chowder itself was tasty, although had a lot more potatoes than clams or seafood...The seafood combo being 16.49 had a lot more fries as well, and it wouldn't have been much sweat off their back to add a few extra shrimp for the extra dollars added. The fish and chips were some of the best I've ever had! The breading on it is crunchy but the fish is soft. It's perfect. The chowder has a lot of flavor and clams! I am posting this review strictly on service as I did not get a chance to enjoy the food. After a day of enjoying the boardwalk, my fiancé and I stopped on the way out for a sandwich. We had never been here before so we were genuinely excited. I ordered the crab sandwich , fries, and a drink. After a couple minutes of enjoying the fries and beverage, I took the lid off and immediately noticed several ant like bugs in and around the drink. I lost my appetite immediately and politely asked for a refund. (I have never asked for a refund in my life for food) I was told, they could only refund the beverage and that they had a no refund policy on the sandwich. As stated before, I have never asked for a refund for food in my life because I always felt the hassle was usually not worth it. In this case, I spent over 30.00 for one meal and felt that I needed to speak up and ask for a refund. We will not be returning to this establishment or the boardwalk. read more

Usually amusement park food is overpriced and not that good, so when I came here, I wasn't expecting anything. However, the food here wasn't that bad, and it was a lot of food for the price which was a pleasant surprise. I got the combination seafood plate which came with fish, calamari, shrimp, and fries. The shrimp had a crunchy exterior and the inside was meaty and flavorful. The calamari was my favorite of the meats because it was surprisingly really tender. Although the shrimp and calamari was good, I didn't really like the fish. The breading was a bit gummy and the fish was stringy. Along with the meats, they also gave me a bunch of fries and I couldn't finish it all. For $12, it's a pretty good deal if you don't want to pay that much for food. read more

Our visit to seaside fish&chowder was a delightful treat. The fish was cooked to perfection with bomb tartar sauce to match. Also, we pleasantly surprised about the quality of the French fries tasted was like they were freshly peeled potatoes. The service was excellent; our waitress was very attentive. The decor matched the beach boardwalk theme, especially since we were on the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk with sand just a few feet away. My family and I visited on Labor Day. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The staff started closing down the eating area an hour before the actual closing time. To make matters worse, one of the employees placed a bucket of cleaning solution with a rag in it right on the counter where the food is served. Then, they brought out someone's food and placed it right next to that same bucket. The staff definitely needs training. That is an OSHA violation. read more

Seating is available inside but it's probably better to get a table outside facing the beach. You have to be very quick when eating at the Fisherman's Galley. The place is packed so when any table becomes available, it's quickly taken. Like a lot of other places on the boardwalk, it faces the ocean so you can enjoy the view while you eat. The service was exceptionally friendly, except for one young employee who A. asked why we needed cocktail sauce for calamari and shrimp which was odd and none of her business, and B. asked us why we needed a spoon for our HOT clam chowder. Both questions were ridiculous, but that last one just blew my mind. We ordered quite a lot of food for two people; a clam chowder bread bowl, calamari with fries, and shrimp with fries. As mentioned above, the bread bowl was served very hot and it tasted amazing. It has juicy chunks of clam and lots of potato pieces. Definitely a must try if you love clam chowder. The shrimp was good and you get a big quantity with each order. The calamari batter had fresh black pepper in it which really made the calamari pop out. Not sure if I liked this place because I was severely famished from laying under the sun all day, but the food was not bad for a fast food-y type place. At this self-serve restaurant (like most at the boardwalk) you can get indoor or outdoor seating viewing the ocean...and the delicious fish 'n chips surprised me because it was lightly dusted and NOT heavily battered. Then, the Cerviche ($9) was fresh and crisp, even though served in unattractive plastic cup, it was a good surprise too. Daughter's burger was fine, and the fries were better than most. The 'combo' here means fries are included but not drinks ($3.50 small or $4 for 20 oz 'regular'). Most combos are about $10, which is a good price for actual food, since nearby sugary junk costs $5. There's a '$10 off 3 meals' deal in the page of coupons provided by the attendant when you pay for the $15 parking BTW. Adults: need a break? the Captain's Deck (on 2nd floor above the mini-golf) is a bar (draft beers and liquor) with some games and pinball, but seems less kid friendly than other spots. read more

Horrible customer service here. I told the cashier that they were out of ketchup from the dispencer several times. Until we finished our meal 20 minutes later, she still did not put any ketchup out. I went there recently on July 5th and I was very dissatisfied about their service. They do a bread bowl deal for the clam chowder yet they don't have enough bread bowls? But then when a nice couple ordered three bread bowls, the lady gave them their meals while another couple that were handicapped asked for a bread bowl and they said that they were out. I even heard the manager say to the women "don't give out no more bread bowls after this" they secretly had extra so what was the problem? They couldn't give all of them out and stock more like their supposed to? So unprofessional. And the lady who took my order had really short hair, scrawny looking kept giving me this pissy attitude and even acted like a child in front of her manager when she asked if she gave me my money back. She literally said "I did!" looking at me funny... I later was waiting for my calamari on the side of the place with my friends and she kept giving me dirty looks staring at me I felt very offended.
