Everyone at Seaside was so friendly, kind, and caring! We will definitely return if needed while on vacation. We had to visit twice within the week between Christmas and New Year's for two separate issues. Reception was always helpful trying to squeeze us in despite limited holiday hours. They genuinely wanted to listen to the issue and help us figure out what was best. First visit was 12/26 after our dog somehow wacked his tail on a ceramic tile floor while sleeping/dreaming at 3:30am Christmas Day. (You can't make this stuff up) This caused yelping, extreme pain for him, and a personality change, which is a sign of distress. They graciously got us in as soon as they reopened. They laid out options for diagnostics and treatment and were very transparent about price (which was very reasonable compared to our vet at home). The vet was amenable to what we decided and supportive of how to best care for our dog given his temperament. The second visit involved an emergency. I was surprised they were open on 12/30 when I called in the evening. Reception assured me Seaside is equipped to do imaging and surgery if needed, which was so helpful to know! Unfortunately they didn't have any openings left that evening. Our dog was having bloody stool which was very concerning and possibly life threatening (if due to a blockage) so we had to get him down to Robinson ER vet in Fernandina. However, after Robinson recommended an overnight which we declined, we did grab a morning appointment with Seaside to make sure we were covered to make the 800mi trip home with our dog stable enough to do it. Yet again, Seaside was super helpful. Robinson had given us antibiotics citing bacteria from sea water was the cause of the bloody stool (after four blood panels and imaging), but they said if our dog wasn't significantly improved by the next day we should head back down and overnight him. This may be protocol, but recovery from bacteria/parasites with antibiotics always takes a few days, so it felt alarmist and avaricious. Seaside was far more human toward us, giving helpful details about the nature of what was going on physically, advising on how to get food down to help our dog's gut realign, and showing us the respect that any caring pet parent deserves when they show up to get the right care for their furry family members. Seaside put my mind at ease and helped us feel that the ride home would be okay, as would our pup as long as we powered through with support and meds schedule. They gave us Cerenia tabs which are cheaper than the injection Seaside had insisted on giving, and really looked out for us for our journey ahead which was not at all a concern to Robinson (who just wanted to scare us into returning the next day). Seaside's rational education on what was biologically needed for our dog, and calm approach to how we could get him through this was absolutely what we needed. I regretted spending money with Robinson instead of Seaside, but it was necessary given the possibility of a blockage and Seaside's lack of openings the night before. That said, we're so grateful they could fill in all the blanks Robinson couldn't and send us home feeling calm and positive. Our dog progressed to 100% within 24h of his Seaside visit and is completely back to himself! I cannot say enough about how caring, explanatory, thoughtful and kind Seaside was. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone, and their prices were very reasonable, with vets who are fair, considerate and looking out for you and your furry family. read more

Nasty front desk people. Told me to go somewhere else if I didn't agree with their policies. I was only asking questions. I spent at least 2000 dollars on Lulu last year & felt like the care was good. When I tried to bring a pair of kittens in to be spayed, I was treated like crap. This is our second year at St Simon's traveling from upstate New York. Our 5 year old dog has traveled with us on many long distance trips, but this time he became ill. For several days I tried my usual home remedies for a sick pup. None were working. I asked the owner of our VRBO for a vet suggestion and she sent me to Seaside. I was skeptical we would get an appointment quickly, I don't get one quickly at my own vets.What a wonderful surprise! They got us in right away. From the person that answered the phone, the tech who interviewed us and the vet herself, we were treated with care and concern. It was clear they care about the animals and were respectful of owners. We left there with a treatment plan and assurances that if our dog were not better in a few days, we could come back. Less than 12 hours later the dog seems relieved of his symptoms and sleeps comfortably next to me as I write this review. I am so grateful. read more

My senior dog started to experience declining health while on vacation due to a large mass growing within her right shoulder area. We brought her in and Dr Blount performed a FNA followed by a biopsy a week later. He was very thorough and personable and we felt that she was definitely in capable hands. We were given and estimate and the bill fell $300 less than the lower estimate given. The vet techs were very professional and kind as well as the office staff. It was a Saturday and we always use our vet in atlanta but our little malti-poo was not feeling well and needed to be seen. I called two other vets and they wouldn't take new patients on a Saturday. I cannot say thank you enough for the compassionate care when I had to make the difficult decision to help my late Dad's17 year old chihuahua, Sugar, across the rainbow bridge. From the moment I walked in the door, the lady at the front desk, whose name, sadly, I do not know, saw the concern on my face and dropped everything to help. Dr. Molly was kind and attentive and explained everything prior to taking any action allowing my precious little one to gently be reunited with my Dad. It is still new and raw and emotional (the tears still come without warning), but they gave me information to know that I was making the right decision for her. I could not ask for more compassion that Dr. Molly showed me and the gentleness with which she cared for Sugar. She treated me as a family member who truly understood my feelings and I am grateful. Recently we took our 12 week old yellow lab puppy to Seaside for an obvious bladder problem. Dr. Wes was in surgery, however, Dr. Cranford, and the vet tech, (Forgot her name...from Louisiana) were fantastic! They diagnosed the problem, provided medication, but most importantly showed her lots of TLC. Can't say enough good things about Seaside. We had established ourselves here when we bought a 2nd home on the island, but had not brought our dogs there yet. My Golden had melanoma, and the tumor started suddenly bleeding very badly on a recent stay here. We knew we could not make it back to our Vet at home to be euthanized. We had never met Dr. Blount, but he treated us as though we had been coming there for years. He was as compassionate and gentle as anyone could possibly have been, even sharing a story of how he had a hard time putting his own lab down when it was time. This is absolutely the worst place to take a cat. I took my poor cat in 4 times in the past month. He wasn't eating and acting strange. 3 Vets in office saw him; all of whom said something different. Great Island veterinarian. We have been taking Anna Belle there since they took over from Dr Tyler and have been very pleased.

Taylor and her assistant were wonderful the day I took in Ebony. They figured out what was wrong and fixed her up with meds and tests. They were both kind, caring and compassionate. Taylor actually looked over Ebony's file and was aware of her multiple medical issues which is rare in todays medical society. I love the staff and Wes is the best vet we have ever had. With 3 dogs and 3 cats he always is fair on his pricing for procedures. I'm always referring people with pets to Seaside. I love you guys and keep up the great work. I'm also sorry for the loss of one of your staff member. May he Rest In Peace. Praying for you through the holiday season and as you add new members to your team. I am here visiting and my dog's back problems flared up. He's in so much pain and it's heartbreaking. I called this vet hospital with the hopes that we could be seen and my poor dog could be relieved of some pain. The woman, named Angel, said we couldn't be seen because we hadn't been there before. I reminded her that we're here visiting and I just don't know what to do. She said, "well, the doctors are leaving. We can't help you." Thank you, Angel and Seaside Veterinary Hospital. I wish this could be a more positive review, but as an experienced and knowledgeable dog owner, I resent the attitude of this practice. The front desk personnel are not at all personable or welcoming. Our AKC show champion, multi-titled Golden Retriever was taken into this vet office for another issue, and I asked them to please take a look at a developing hot spot on his left loin. Despite his records clearly being marked DO NOT SHAVE, the vet tech shaved a large patch - without consultation or permission. For those who think this trivial, the left side is the side which predominantly shows to the judges in a show ring. Our dog is a high-level sire dog, showing at national competitions. Now, 18 MONTHS LATER, the artifact of this shaving still shows in our dog's coat. We have found a better, much more welcoming and understanding vet practice near by and cannot recommend Seaside to anyone who wants to be involved in decisions about their dog's care. read more

We've taken our Poodles to these vets since 2013 and they are the best we've ever experienced. We are frequent visitors for check ups, shots, heart worm RX and grooming. We always feel like they give us the best care possible without ordering unnecessary labs, X-rays etc. On more than one occasion they have suggested an over the counter med that was less expensive than the Vet Rx. They put down one of our poodles in 2016 and handled the experience with deep compassion and understanding for our loss. Best Vets we've ever had!!! read more

These guys are great! Show so much care and compassion to my critters. They take time to explain everything that's going on, all possibilities, and give options. They don't rush into the most expensive solution, and at times have given advice over the phone if they know and have seen your pet. Very friendly, gentle and patient!!! read more

I've been taking my dog to Dr Tyler for 10+ yrs. He was always helpful & always put the animal before the $$. When the 2 new guys took over & became Seaside I stayed, out of convenience. Then, our vet left abruptly. No one ever offered any explanation. Continued going out of convenience. Last yr, paid for full routine exam with new vet. When I placed an order for heart worm meds a few months later, was told I had to bring him back for another exam before they would fulfill the prescription. The dog also goes EVERY spring for a steroid shot because of allergies. This yr hadn't been bad, but I noticed the dog scratching this week & called for our regular shot appt with the tech. Nope, must schedule full appt with Dr because it's been a 1yr & a month since his last shot that he gets EVERY yr. I'm done. I refuse to let someone nickel & dime me for services. Thanks for letting my dog suffer from allergies just so you could get your extra $50-$70 read more

We are snowbirds from Vermont and last year after 7 years of not needing a vet on the Island, our beloved 10 year old Lexi became fatally ill. The entire staff was welcoming, comforting, compassionate and non judgmental when we decided she was took sick to save. I cannot tell you how much that meant to us. Also their prices are so reasonable. This year we have a new puppy and we are bringing him there to be neutered. I would highly recommend this Animal Hospital and their staff. 10 stars read more

My dog was diagnosed with pneumonia a few days before Christmas. A few days had passed and he was no longer eating or drinking. He even threw up blood on Christmas Eve. Our normal vet was not opened the day after Christmas, but Ruger needed help. I called Seaside explained everything to the lady on the phone and was told, "We have no open appointments for non-clients today". I understand the frustrations of seeing clients who do not frequent your office regularly, but our family dog was dying and Seaside would not see us. I've heard great things about this office, but I have never been so disappointed in a professional office. Will never recommend this office to anyone. read more

Everyone at this clinic is wonderful! Our little yorkie has a terrible rash on his body and a yeast infection in his big yorkie ears. The staff took us in without an appointment and the doc was quick to see us. Dr. Blount is a great vet! He was sweet with our little guy and was delightful to talk to.
