I was apprehensive about trying another groomer after a string of unpleasant encounters. I tried to teach myself how to groom my dog so I wouldn't have to pick up an unrecognizable dog again, but I discovered I was allergic to dog hair. We recently relocated to St Simons Island, so I decided to give Puppy Paradise a try after reading rave reviews. Let me tell you, I had extremely low hopes; I expected to be given another unrecognizable pup, but I was desperate because my fur-baby was in critical need of a grooming. Due to my worry, he had gone without one for the longest time. Olivia, our groomer, did a great job!! I showed her photos of how I wanted our buddy to look, and she replicated them perfectly. What a pleasant change! Finally, someone who knows how to groom a dog to your exact specifications! I consider myself extremely fortunate that the first groomer I tried in St Simons was the perfect fit for us. We'll definitely return, and Olivia at Puppy Paradise is highly recommended. Thank you very much!!

It would be a lot easier if everyone would be honest. My dog was nearly killed due to pretty obvious neglect of supervision. #receipts

He had to have a pain shot

I have only used the grooming at this place. I have actually been using this groomer Brittany for at least a year and she has always done a great job. I took my dog for a groom last week and Brittany, I never saw. Although, she called me, so I assume it was her that groomed him. There was a new girl there that took Ferdie in and brought him out, she was in the room with him and I can only assume Brittany, when I got there. My poor labradoodle needed groomed so bad, but NEVER to the point it hurts him and causes him pain. When I looked closely at him, I noticed his ears were bloody inside, his skin was very red on his belly and warm to the touch. He began nesting and acting like he never had before. His anus and genitalia area were bright red. I literally cried for the pain my doodle was in. His whiskers all got cut off, this never happened before. I personally don't think you should cut a dogs whispers off. He is now on medicated skin cream, pain pills, steroids for inflammation and antibiotics for skin and ears. His eyes were all bloodshot when I got him home and I then did the research and realized, that's not good. I would never take him back there again!!! I once recommended it, NEVER again. This last grooming has caused my beloved pet so much pain!! Beware and do not let this happen to your pet. I don't write many reviews, but when I do, it's because what was done was bad. My beloved pet must have been so stressed and traumatized. I'm personally sick about it!! Stay away

I took my sweet boy (shihzu and bichon) there... the groomer Ashley did the best job I've ever seen here or Anywhere, won't ever go to anybody else again... look how cute he is!

We Love this place. Our two furry children love this place. And why not? They take such wonderful care of each and every customer they have. We have been with them almost from the day they opened and they keep getting better. I travel a lot and my wife owns 4 stores here on the Island. That means without the help of St. Simons Puppy Paradise, our Boys would be spending a lot of time at home alone. Not now! They So look forward to the days they can go to Camp. We have them signed up for the unlimited visits for a Very reasonable monthly fee. And, if we cannot make it back in time to pick them up, we know they are well cared for with overnight boarding. Give them a try. Your dog(s) will thank you for it!

We had to visit twice within the week between Christmas and New Year's for two separate issues. Reception was always helpful trying to squeeze us in despite limited holiday hours. They genuinely wanted to listen to the issue and help us figure out what was best. First visit was 12/26 after our dog somehow wacked his tail on a ceramic tile floor while sleeping/dreaming at 3:30am Christmas Day. (You can't make this stuff up) This caused yelping, extreme pain for him, and a personality change, which is a sign of distress. They graciously got us in as soon as they reopened. They laid out options for diagnostics and treatment and were very transparent about price (which was very reasonable compared to our vet at home). The vet was amenable to what we decided and supportive of how to best care for our dog given his temperament. The second visit involved an emergency. I was surprised they were open on 12/30 when I called in the evening. Reception assured me Seaside is equipped to do imaging and surgery if needed, which was so helpful to know! Unfortunately they didn't have any openings left that evening. Our dog was having bloody stool which was very concerning and possibly life threatening (if due to a blockage) so we had to get him down to Robinson ER vet in Fernandina. However, after Robinson recommended an overnight which we declined, we did grab a morning appointment with Seaside to make sure we were covered to make the 800mi trip home with our dog stable enough to do it. Yet again, Seaside was super helpful. Robinson had given us antibiotics citing bacteria from sea water was the cause of the bloody stool (after four blood panels and imaging), but they said if our dog wasn't significantly improved by the next day we should head back down and overnight him. This may be protocol, but recovery from bacteria/parasites with antibiotics always takes a few days, so it felt alarmist and avaricious. Seaside was far more human toward us, giving helpful details about the nature of what was going on physically, advising on how to get food down to help our dog's gut realign, and showing us the respect that any caring pet parent deserves when they show up to get the right care for their furry family members. Seaside put my mind at ease and helped us feel that the ride home would be okay, as would our pup as long as we powered through with support and meds schedule. They gave us Cerenia tabs which are cheaper than the injection Seaside had insisted on giving, and really looked out for us for our journey ahead which was not at all a concern to Robinson (who just wanted to scare us into returning the next day). Seaside's rational education on what was biologically needed for our dog, and calm approach to how we could get him through this was absolutely what we needed. I regretted spending money with Robinson instead of Seaside, but it was necessary given the possibility of a blockage and Seaside's lack of openings the night before. That said, we're so grateful they could fill in all the blanks Robinson couldn't and send us home feeling calm and positive. Our dog progressed to 100% within 24h of his Seaside visit and is completely back to himself! I cannot say enough about how caring, explanatory, thoughtful and kind Seaside was. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone, and their prices were very reasonable, with vets who are fair, considerate and looking out for you and your furry family.

Vacationing on St. Simons Island with our family (and yellow lab-mix CGC 'Canine Good Citizen'…read moredog), we planned a day trip and required the services of a pet sitter to take our dog for a short walk during the middle of the day. We contacted Pet Sitting and More, and arranged for the owner to meet our dog beforehand (paying for this 'meet and greet' as well as the next visit). All went well with the initial visit and we made sure that the sitter understood our dog was a bit shy but knew all her commands (sit, stay, even "go to bed" - so cute - she runs into her crate and lies down:)). We completed a pet sitting form that included our cell phone numbers in case she needed to contact us. We assumed all went well since we didn't hear otherwise until some 26 hours later, when we received a phone call from the sitter asking us how our dog was! We learned that the sitter was unable to walk our dog (she said our dog was hiding under the bed). We were very disappointed that the sitter waited so long to call to let us know there was an issue and failed to contact us when the problem occurred (our cell phones were on all day). After asking for a refund for the visit, we received a hateful text message that started "It's your kind that makes most of the pet sitters around here choose not to do business with the tourist! Maybe I will rethink doing so in the future." In our many years as dog owners, we never had this type of negative experience with pet sitters in the past and based on this experience, we can not recommend this pet sitter.

After two years of saving, we finally planned a short vacation out of state. Since our vet does not offer boarding, I contacted Golden Isles Animal Hospital to arrange a 4 night stay for my diabetic cat. She had been stable for almost a year with oral medication and a closely monitored diet, especially her water intake, which is significant due to her condition. I made sure to explain this clearly: she needs her water bowl refilled frequently and medication administered once daily. That's it. She's super easy, just keep an eye on the water bowl. I even left these instructions in her medicine bag stating exactly this. Because of her condition, I was told she'd need to come in for a "trial day," before the boarding, to ensure everything would go smoothly. She did very well, and the assistants praised her for how sweet, bubbly and easy she is. After that trial, she came home, sat by her water bowl, and drank water nonstop for 15 minutes. In hindsight, this is more concerning than it felt at the time. I trusted that this animal hospital would, at the very least, keep a diabetic cat hydrated and comfortable. So surely this must be stress related.. right? I brought up her water intake again at the time of her boarding, and they assured me that someone would "always be with her." I now understand that "someone in the building" may not mean someone qualified, or attentive enough, to actually monitor her needs. On the morning we were scheduled to pick her up, we received a call at 7am asking us to come immediately. She had been found lying on her side in her litter box, lethargic, dehydrated, could not walk without falling, and vocalizing in distress. As soon as we arrived, I asked if the vet or a tech could assist. I was told by your staff that no tech or vet had been on duty over the weekend, and wouldn't be that day either. The person who handed her over said she'd been fine for the first couple of days, but by day 3 had become slightly lethargic, so they gave her corn syrup. We asked if her blood sugar was checked before that, to ensure it was low blood sugar causing the lethargy, but the answer was no. It was given to her blindly. If this lethargy was that concerning, to the point of giving her corn syrup without checking her blood sugar, then why wasn't I called and informed of it at the very least? I would have come home immediately to get her and take her to her vet. There were no clear records of what had happened over the weekend from your staff. Evidently, they had been rotated, and the person speaking to us admitted they weren't there for two of the four days, so they weren't entirely sure what happened. We were handed a brochure for an emergency clinic and told to take her there, as they had no one to help her. We then took her over to her vet, who did some quick tests and found her very dehydrated with high blood sugar, cold and stressed, and urged us to take her to the emergency clinic immediately, so we did. She was admitted and cared for, but her condition continued to worsen. She passed away the very next day. I am absolutely devastated. It is heartbreaking to think that a stay intended to be safe and routine ended this way. I will always question what happened during those days when we weren't with her, and if any of it could have been prevented, had they called me at the first red flag.. If only I could give 0 stars. Thanks for literally nothing.
