After a short hospital stay which disrupted both her diet and memory, Mom needed hands-on help until a room was available in assisted living. It was such a blessing to have Emily G. and Julie R. as the aides Caroline assigned. They pureed her meals, reminded her to take medications, provided mental stimulation and even some physical exercise. One or the other of the aides was in her apartment 7 hours a day 7 days a week for 10 weeks. the care they provided was in every way exceptional and the genuine respect they showed was wonderful since she had already lost so much. And finally, the fact that my previously independent Mom looked forward each day to simply having them arrive is in the end the best testimonial of all. Awful company. My worst experience ever with hospice. We had their services for 6 days. The…read moreequipment drop off times were very late at night and our first air mattress was broken and we were given incorrect instructions. The clinical staff (nursing) frequently changed appointment days and/or times. They let my father go without pain medication while he was actively dying. At 8am the nurse knew he would run out by 4pm. There were multiple reminder calls and texts during the day only to find out the pharmacy lied stating we declined the delivery. After many more texts and calls the medication was delivered at 9pm. Five hours no pain medication. He was supposed to have it hourly. He passed just after midnight. Completely unacceptable. There was an utter lack of accountability and ownership to fix the medication problem. There was a 24 hour CVS around the corner but they used their pharmacy on the Cape to save a buck. I was willing to pick up and pay for it myself at CVS but the on call doctor couldn't figure out how to fax an order despite me telling the nurse, who was relaying information, only a verbal order was needed per CVS because it's for a hospice patient. What should have been a beautiful and spiritual time, saying goodbye, was littered with nonsense that never should have happened. The most respectful, kind nurse was the one who came out to pronounce my dad's death and prepare him for the funeral home staff to pick him up. I don't remember her name but I will remember her actions. I debated posting a review until my emotions were more under control and I decided I would so hopefully West River will be more accountable to future families.

On both occasions Care By The Coast came through for us. Not only was my family member in need very pleased with the warm and attentive service, but Elizabeth was great at communicating with myself to make sure things were just right. Because of my Mother in law's unique condition I was promised she would be placed with an aide that was both understanding and knowledgeable and she definitely is. Her laundry is being done and grocery shopping is no longer something I have to try and fit in my busy schedule. Bathing was a big issue and struggle and I am thrilled that she is agreeing to it and she looks and feels great because of the care she has been receiving .
