This was my son's second summer at SeaTrek. He had such a great time the first year, I was really worried that the second year would be a disappointment, but NOPE. He decided to stay for all 3 voyages because he enjoyed every moment so much. He did Fathoms, which is very science based. I expected him to come home obsessed with sharks or other cool sea creatures...but nope, he is totally committed to studying plankton and really enjoyed getting to see marine science labs up close. I have no doubt this set him up for a love of marine biology that will lead to a career later in life. His second trip was the Bahamas Explorer. It took me a few days to realize they were in port and he wasn't calling home because he was having too much fun to even think about home! He spent his 13th birthday with this crew, as well as achieved his 100th dive, and the Bahamas crew did everything they could to make these milestones special for him. He is just about to depart on his 3rd voyage of the summer, and his 3rd trip through the BVI. It is so comforting as the mother of a younger camper, even though he is 2000+ miles away, to know that he's in his happy place and he is well cared for. The crew and leadership are so amazing at communications and Facebook updates that I have no anxieties whatsoever. I can't even explain how much my kids have enjoyed and learned from this program. My daughter started in the summer of 2013 and then both kids went in the summer of 2014. My son will go again this summer for 3 weeks and my daughter will go for 7 weeks as an intern. This is truly one of the best run "camp" adventures out there. I'm pretty sure all first-time parents get a little worried about sending their precious children off so far away for that period of time. However, I can promise you that the SeaTrek staff will go to great lengths to ensure the safety and well-being of your kids. I would no more think twice about sending either one of mine down there than I would sending them to the grocery store around the corner. Not only do the kids get to enjoy their beautiful surroundings, but they also learn more about life than they ever could at a traditional land-based camp. To be honest, the information about our oceans & environment that my kids have brought home has taught me a lot. These kids don't even realize they're learning so much. This was our 3rd summer with SeatrekBVI. My oldest daughter did SetSail (10 days) in 2021, she did Voyage 1 (21 days) in 2022 and her brother met up with her and did Setsail. He went back this summer and did Voyage 1. He is signed up next summer for the Bahamas trip. They did these trips at ages 15, 16 & 17. They are very different kids and both LOVED their experiences. I can't say enough good things. They both have Celiac Disease and therefore have to eat Gluten Free and both kids said that they took it seriously and made sure that they had GF food at every meal. Each came back proud of themselves for being certified to dive, flying alone (nonstop direct flights from MIA and we live in FL so super easy for us). If your kid has interests in Marine Biology, sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling and the idea of living on a boat, check out Seatrek. My son came home this year so happy about the friends he made and the fun he had. As a parent, as with most "camps", I like that they do not have their phones for the majority of the trip but SeatrekBVI posts photos daily so you can see what they have been doing and they do a pretty good job of capturing each kid at least once so you get to see their faces so you don't miss them as much. read more

As I was a young 15 year old scuba diver at the time, going on a three week trip with SeaTrek was definitely an important and on reflection, a brilliant one for my overall development as a person and diver. I participated in the rescue diver and master diver courses over my two years on the program and I learnt such fundamental values to succeed at having fun at diving, whilst making sure that safety is a top priority in all situations. Having little experience away from home for anything longer than a week at a time, going away for three weeks was definitely a confidence booster. Handling all the aspects of actually traveling to the camp and returning was a maturing process and on reflection I am massively more confident and knowledgable about flying or travelling from place to place. The stunning scenery, the amazing people, and fantastic fun that I had would definitely make it easy for me to recommend this camp to anyone interested in either scuba diving or marine biology who are keen to learn more and grow as an actual human being. read more

I am a second year camper and I am obsessed with SeaTrek, there is such a family feel to being apart of this program. The lessons learned here are life altering and bring out the best qualities in yourself. Having met people across the world and spending 3 weeks sleeping under the stars, sailing, scuba diving, hiking etc. really creates unbreakable bonds. I still keep in contact with all my close friends from my first voyage. Im so glad my mom came across this program because I would not be the person I am today without it. Besides the life experience I have received from here, I have completed 3 certifications, seen mind-blowing wildlife, hiked across beautifully preserved ecosystems, learned about BVI culture, and was engulfed into marine science. Captains Bucky and Kelsey were from my previous voyage and they were the absolute best, I felt truly cared about as a person. SeaTrek is my home away from home and I have nothing but good to say about this program and would recommend it to anyone who loves the ocean! read more

I'm writing this review from a teens perspective, it's the best summer camp ever!! I was 13 when I went on my first SeaTrek BVI voyage without any diving experience. It was the best summer I ever had! I learned to scuba dive, we sailed, we even did a wreckage dive and also hiked and explored the BVI!! My favorite voyage would be with SeaTrek Explorer Bahamas, exploring limestone caves, spearfishing and diving with the sharks! This year I'm going back for my 5th year with SeaTrek, this time as an intern and will also be working towards my Dive Master certification! I am now even thinking of a career in Marine Biology just from all the experiences I've had with SeaTrek. The SeaTrek staff are all very knowledgeable, professional and safety oriented. I highly recommend SeaTrek to any teen that loves the outdoors and adventure!! It was by far the best decision my parents and I have ever made! read more

SeaTrek has been the most worthwhile decision I have ever made. The program has allowed me to grow as an individual and learn responsibility both as a student and as an intern for the past two years. I have discovered my passion for scuba diving and SeaTrek has guided me through my certifications and helped me reach a potential I never knew I was capable of. Seatrek is so much more than just a summer camp. It is an incredible experience that defies all expectations. Safety being the number one priority, seatrek teaches young people a variety of skills including: responsibility, teamwork, and communication. I was 14 when I went down to the BVI with SeaTrek for my very first time to get my basic and advanced certifications, went down the 2 following summers for rescue and master diver, and will be returning this summer as an intern and will be working on getting my dive master certification. Without a doubt, SeaTrek camps have been the BEST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE! I attended SeaTrek for 2 summers and learned so much, made so many friends, and gained valuable skills. The camps also helped me affirm that I should pursue my dream of a career in marine science, and gave me an introduction as to what that kind of career would be like. Oh, and besides preparing me for my future career, did I mention that SeaTrek was just all around FUN? An excellent place to spend your summer if you're interested in marine science, sailing, and/or diving! This will be my third summer going and I am beyond excited. My parents had initially been worried about me being away from home for three weeks and outside of the country but everything worked out great, especially with SeaTrek's great staff! SeaTrek BVI is the best experience my sons have ever had. We are a sailing, SCUBA, and active ocean family and have been on many adventures. However, the take away from SeaTrek BVI is one that is unique, fabulous, educational, and just plain awesome. Captain Monk and his crew are incredibly professional, fun, and energetic. My 15 years old son has made a fabulous trip ! Three weeks was perfect to really improve his diving techniques and have fun. Kelly had the most incredible time on her Set Sail Voyage. She was nervous when she learned that she would be the only "new" person on her boat (the other kids had been there for almost 2 weeks), but everyone on her boat welcomed her and treated her like a rock star.
