We had lunch at Ba Bar at U-Village then came to the gallery to walk off our lunch and take in a lot of interesting, diverse art. The gallery now offers FREE admission to everyone (thanks in part to 4Culture), whereas before it was only free to UW students, faculty, and staff. What I like about the Henry is the curation. They always have intriguing and interesting exhibits that are grouped well and have just enough art pieces for you to see and take in without getting overwhelmed. The space is clean, well lit, and pretty minimalist. Also like that they have a cute little cafe, City Grind, with both indoor and outdoor seating. On this visit, we were impressed by the exhibit by Diné artist Eric-Paul Riege (b. 1994, New Mexico). Riege's tactile sculptures of jewelry and other objects were HUGE and a cool sight to behold. A sign said that some sculptures could be touched gently which I fully took advantage of because these giant soft sculptures just called out to be touched. It's a terrific exhibit and is showing until October 25, 2026. Go see it while you can!

Ryan James is one of the few true fine arts galleries featuring complex "modern, abstract,…read moreconceptual" works of primarily local artists. They close for a few days at the start of every month to rotate their pieces, showcasing different artists each month. They often repaint walls and/or repaint pedestals to match the aesthetics of the new arts being displayed. They also participate in the Seattle Art Fair yearly in July. Many of the featured works are contemporary, as though in the process of creating a new genre. If you enjoy pushing your envelope on art comprehension, this is the place to go. I visited back in June with my niece, who is an art student. We probably spent more time there than many other visitors talking through every piece - discussing methods, ratios, layouts, flow, vibes, and more. We were very drawn to the paintings of Kalina Winska. Her themes often incorporate weather patterns into her art - mist, drizzle, air flow, clouds, etc. We both chose the same work as our favorite - an abstract that looks like weather patterns complete with arrows in swirling random-like directions. It has the longest name ever. See photos. A unique feature of Ryan James is that they have an artwork rental library! For as little as $45 a month, you can enjoy different paintings on your wall. This art gallery is located on the ground level of Kirkland Urban. Parking is free underground for up to 4 hours with validation.

I almost can't believe that only 5% was touched up because everything was so vibrant and unbelievably positioned. If it wasn't for my one year-old daughter, we probably would've spent more time in there looking around. I wouldn't skip this exhibit.

The exhibit takes probably between 45mins-2hrs depending on how through your group it, but there is loads to look at! I thought it was well worth the price as the art is so unique and stunning. There was a bathroom in the middle of the exhibit which i thought was great! The docents were friendly and helpful. I would recommend a million times over!

The Bellevue Arts Fair is Bellevue's best, annual event that occurs the last weekend in July. For…read moreart lovers in the Seattle area, it's a fair to visit and explore as there's a lot of artwork of all mediums to see and learn about. And it's always a fun time! The Bellevue Arts Fair occurs from the Bellevue Galleria area across the Bellevue Transit Center to the parking garage area by Bell Square, pass Nordstrom. Everything is walking distance, and they do block certain streets for where vendors are. With that said, I recommend taking public transit if you want to avoid the parking mayhem that can occur this busy weekend. However, you can still find parking in the mall and around the Bellevue Downtown Park if you get there early enough. As mentioned earlier, there's artwork of all mediums, so a lot of variety. The artwork also ranges in different price points and it's cool to see where the artists are from, as many travel from all around the West Coast to Bellevue, just to showcase their craftsmanship. In addition to the artwork to explore, there are food trucks and live music, and the Bellevue Arts Museum offers free admission all weekend and hosts a wine garden. Fun times. It's one of my favorite summer festivals to check out. Support the arts and small business!

I love that they are located so close to the Olympic Sculpture Park and the pier. I second guessing…read moremy plans to check out Sisko Gallery on such a stormy day but I'm glad I stuck to my decision. They were showing Sue Perry's "Changing TImes" and the industrial feel of the gallery makes it so complimentary to many of her paintings. The gallery is structured in a way that makes it feel cozy and intimate -- kind of like in a home gallery -- unique from most art galleries with large, blank, empty spaces. They also had some of Charles Emerson's work which I truly adore. I met the owner John Sisko himself who was very knowledgable -- and generous with his knowledge -- about the Seattle art scene and culture. I discovered that he personally knew many Seattle artists himself like the amazing Patti Warashina. Her Midnight Masquerade from ca. 1970 was displayed and I simply couldn't stop admiring it. I find it funny that their website listed Daisy the dog as "staff." She's a highly energetic greeter who isn't afraid to get friendly with you. I was the only one at the gallery during my visit, and John's hospitality and warm welcome on my first visit here made it feel like I was at a private showing. Too often art gallerists are cold and dismissive to young visitors, but you know a true artist and art professional when he engages you instead. Sisko Gallery will now be on my list of Thursday art walk must-gos!

So much to see here! All of the staff we spoke to were so friendly and gave great customer service…read more- a true rarity these days. We most recently visited so my kiddo could check out the Dino exhibit. Online/on the website they had mentioned fossil digs so my kid was really looking forward to that. When we went through all 4 levels of the museum though, there was no fossil dig to be found. After asking staff , they mentioned it's only once or twice a year. A bit of a bummer since that's the main thing my kid wanted to do! Just 1 star off for that. The husky scavenger hunt kind of made up for it! If you're coming with a kid they'll offer the scavenger hunt & I'd highly recommend it to make the visit more interesting for the little ones! All in all I definitely recommend checking out the Burke Museum & also stop by Off the Rez (connected cafe) while you visit!

The natural history sections aren't the biggest, but the Burke uses the space well and has good…read moredensity. It's small but they manage to pack in some surprisingly big Dinos and Mammals. To me, where this museum really shines, is the Native exhibits offering both past and present history on rotation and access to working scientists. I always learn a lot when I go. When the wet lab is active may be my favorite part. Watching animal skeletons prepped. Might be a little gross for some people so check the schedule if you are squeamish. Another note for Parents is that there is a small play area on the top floor. Perfect for rainy days with the little ones. The surrounding University grounds are great to let them run around as well. There is a Starbucks at the Suzzallo Library and bathrooms too if you left the Burke and have a kid who needs to go even after they were prompted a million times before you exited the Burke! There are also tons of food options and a couple small grocery stores nearby. Which is great if you/your group have dietary needs. The light rail station is very close by and many buses drop off / pick up right across the street. Public transit to this location is quite good and I recommend it, especially since youth 18 and under are free to ride.

Plus there are plenty of other activities: - Bellevue Arts Museum (BAM) offers free admission along with a KIDSfair consisting of mini hands-on projects. - Bellevue Square hosts performances at a BAMboozle Stage outside of Macy's and at a Sound & Movement Stage inside at the center court. - Chalk It Up on the road outside of BAM is reserved for free-style art. - Food vendors are available to purchase meals, snacks, or drinks. It's a great annual event to spend an afternoon at, especially if you are a fan of art!

I also loves looking at the photography they had, beautiful pictures from all over. I haven't purchased any for myself because it's too expensive. Anyway, I love the ARTSFAIR! Recommend and will return next year.
