I've been targeted from the police for filing a lawsuit for getting injured and being on social security. They use the apartment above me in two different places I've lived in and follow me around the apartment and stomp on the floor all day till midnight . My parked car has been hit, another location the tires were slashed. They made up a story to get me arrested and said I never made any complaints before that even though I have numerous complaints and calls on my phone to the police about being harassed and this is ongoing.they go into my apartment and car when I'm away from them, this has been going on since 2023 read more

Well, I have been severely disappointed within this police department. We visited Seattle about two weeks ago when the forty 49ers played against the Seahawks (and I was also touring some options for school for this upcoming fall). We got robbed and over $9000 worth of goods was taken from us. (we had our stuff hidden in our car and we were parked over by pikes market place enjoying our last hours in Seattle). We called 911, but they said to fill an online report regarding the burglary (someone smashing our car window). The person that was doing dispatch was very rude and said - go online, when I guess there were literally policemen walking around pikes market, which I found odd. However with it being two weeks later (giving them our device numbers) and sending them several emails, they still don't have the itch to reply to us. (when online they say they'll get back to you in 5 days) I sure hope the Chief or whoever is in charge of this department resigns because this is a joke. Be very careful if you're a traveler or staying in Seattle because crime is super common there and the police department doesn't do anything. read more

Sorry but don't offer that as a service is you're not going to f' all about it, and then be rude to me because I am trying to take advantage of a service that is offered to keep the peace. Ok, so this is a tempered respond as I have a %1000 respect for the Police. I even have a Police friend. However I live in North Bend and called the police for stolen packages. Mentioned that I suspected it was the neighbor across the hall, Cop said ok we will stop by the front Office (Traverse Apt N Bend), but the Cop instead knocked on our door and loudly announced "are the ones that called the police on apartment blah blah blah?" I was dumbfounded. Like did you consider or care about our safety? Like I said, you guys have the toughest job NO FLIPPING QUESTION, but it's outdated practices like this that escalates situations. I just pray that better deescalating are implemented. Especially when you have a community mix. A few folks on section 8 living amongst other working class individuals just doesn't seem to bode well for paying tenants. Like not only do I have to pay higher taxes so you can live free, but now I have to donate goods and groceries too? SPD has fallen so far from what it once was. After reporting a major accident that blocked a busy four-way intersection the police never showed up in the hour and a half I was there. On top of that, when I was on a bus last month there was a guy on drugs screaming, banging the windows, and firing up a cigarette in the bus with everyone in there. The cops did nothing. Same story. Highly disappointed. I am starting to lose all respect for our police department here in Seattle. Really hoping things can turn around, as this is not okay. read more

Not sure what the event was but we were walking from our local residence to dinner and got caught up in it all. Seattle police department deserves absolutely no stars for their performance today! I am beside myself with disgust because I'm trying to have court papers served to my daughters mom and after waiting for 9 hours for an officer to show up to serve her, I'm told by those brand new officers that's not their job. 1. They've served her court paperwork 3 times before in the past. 2. If it wasn't their job before, why couldn't the dispatcher have informed me of that 9 hours ago, better yet, 4 months ago when the actually served her?!?! Seattle police has maybe 3 solid good officers who deserve to work for better cities, this one is going to crap! Today is the last day I can have her served or I need to start the filing process all over again. I called the King County Shariffs and they informed me that they will be able to serve her. This tells me how inept and incompetent most SPD officers are. read more

They refused to do a wellness check on someone who I believed to be unstable, and their non-emergency line took hours of waiting. I had this person's real name and social media and tons of pictures of what they look(ed) like. This person called the experience scary by calling me scary. I was seen as bothering this person from the moment I came in contact with this department. I never meant them any harm, and it's incredibly disappointing to see officers of the law misread the situation so poorly. This person is terrified of me and never wants to hear from me again and thinks I'm some kind of stalker or predator. Not cool. The only way I know they're even ok after all this is because they contacted me via a burner number I can't reply to. Just... do better. You're supposed to make us citizens feel safe. The other day I watched as my neighbors 3 darling little African/American kids (about 5 yrs old) playing in their front yard all alone. I sat outside, smoking my cigarette and watched the kids venturing further and further out into the street. One of the boys started throwing rocks and his aim quickly became focused on the parked cars near by. I asked him to stop throwing rocks and be good or otherwise I'd have to come over and talk to his mommy and daddy about what he's doing out there. It's too dangerous, I said. He looked at me, shocked at hearing a disembodied voice out of no where suddenly, and scampered back into his house. I thought everything was good so went back inside myself and got the Doggos ready for their walks. About 45min later, I come walking down my street and see 2 Seattle Police SUV's and one policeman had the little boy who'd been throwing rocks, bouncing around on his shoulders and the female policewoman walked along side them making the little boy laugh. I was really worried when I saw him in their custody, but relived that Someone had him in their care and that he was safe!! There was No sign of Either parent Anywhere on the property!! Somehow the police found their fathers phone number and called him only to find out that he was at work and wouldn't be able to leave to come take care of his kids. They still couldn't contact the mom yet and nobody knew where she was. They finally talked the dad into coming, there was really no choice. While they waited, the policemen spent time with the kids, talking to them, playing with them, and made the situation as far from frightening as possible! In fact, the kids had SOOO much fun with the Police and playing in the Police cars, that they didn't realize the seriousness of the situation and thought it was a game. Those two police officers took a SCARY situation and made those kids feel safe and that they had just made new life long friends!!! I was just sooo tickled to see how they handled themselves I was blown away!! Finally, the dad got a ride back to his house and the Police and CPS talked with him, warning him of the Seriousness of child neglect!! The kids hadn't eaten anything since that morning and it was 6pm. The neighbors are the ones who called 911, because they were worried about the safety of those precious little kids!!! They had heard that the children hadn't eaten all day so grabbed some chips, dip and bananas for their growling tummies. The Mother finally came home. She was in shock and just terrified that she was going to be arrested and that she'd lose her children. She was given another chance to improve her parenting methods and told that if it ever happens again that CPS will have to become involved. I can't Believe she left 3 little 5 year olds at home for hours all Alone!! Good Grief!!! They could easily have been hit by a car!!! I was a worrisome situation for sure, but I've never seen 2 police officers more dedicated to the welfare and wellbeing of those wittle babies!!! It was truly AMAZING to watch!!! I wish I'd Videotaped some of it, but only took a picture of their vehicles with their id numbers so I could share with the world that Not All Police are Terrifying. You can not judge a while with only a few. Thank You Seattle Police for serving and protecting the people as you are meant to do in the positions you have!! I am beyond Impressed!! The Seattle Police just broke and entered into my apartment, without announcing themselves at all because they supposedly thought I was "suicidal" or something. They then proceeded to try to gaslight me and my friend by telling us they DID announce their presence (which neither of us heard), and they were wearing body cams. So they're on camera lying to a citizen about the fact they breached protocol. They then refused to go arrest the man who I told them abused me, which is where this all started. I called SPD about a strange man wandering around the stairwell of my apartment building. This man and his friend then began to harrass me and threaten me, one of them telling me he had a gun and was going to kill me. I ran outside and called SPD again to notify them he had a gun and had threatened to kill me. An officer showed up several minutes later and I gave him my report. Then I asked to return to the safety of my apartment and if he would contact me there with any further questions. I have yet to hear back about the man living in my apartment building who threatened to kill me with a gun. The police just left and apparently did nothing. read more

Had a tire blowout on the 5 pulling a trailer loaded with our entire home and business. Drove quite a ways to get off the highway and an officer stopped to see what f I needed assistance. New trailer, no jack, wrong spare just Murphy's law the whole way. He started directing traffic to help out and long story short 4 hours in the rain and called for roadside incident assistance etc. stayed the whole time, great attitude and welcoming. On at least three entirely separate instances, the Seattle police department failed to either complete a report with out numerous errors, pass on requisite information to another entity, or Follow up directly with the victim of a crime for resources including submission to the victim compensation for. Last night I called 911. I saw a person having a cigarette in an odd place. That's why I noticed her. Before the light turned green she looked at me, tossed out her smoke, and jumped over the railing, landing in the I-5 south bound carpool lane just north of the convention center underpass. I want to commend the Seattle PD and SFD for their exemplary response time. From the time I called 911 until they had officers on scene, and an additional officer on the overpass to get our names and witness statements, it was less than 4 minutes. Thank you SPD and SFD for your dedication to duty. I don't know if your efforts saved that person's life or not, but you certainly did everything you could to help her. read more

I've waited over 15 hours for police to respond...When I gave them a call to see what the hell was going on, I was told that my call was diverted multiple times and then cleared even though an officer never came. HOW SCARY!!!! What if this was an emergency? I've never reviewed a police department before, but there's a first time for everything. Now, I can't do a comprehensive review. No, I wasn't in the drunk tank, and I didn't get a cavity search. I simply went in for fingerprinting. And I can honestly say that it was my best fingerprinting experience ever! The staff was super friendly, and they were also very efficient. This clearly wasn't they're first rodeo. For best results, follow the recommendations on the SPD website. I don't know if $7/card is a good price, but my local police department isn't open for the service when I get home from work, so the price was irrelevant to me. At the end of the day, if you need to get prints done and you're in the Seattle area, it's worth coming here. Just leave your drugs and weapons at home. (It IS a police station.) read more

FIRST OFF, my review is specifically about the parking enforcement part of the Seattle Police. That said.. On a trip to the left coast, I OF COURSE wanted to hit Pikes Place Market.. LOVE that place.. I pulled my rental up in the only empty space across the street ( PIKE St.?) from the market and noticed a "Pay to Park sign". I purposely called the parking authority to question if my Florida handicap placard would preclude me from feeding the meter as it does in many municipalities ( NOT private lots), Nice officer I spoke with told me he knew exactly where I was parked, and that Seattle honors the placard from ALL the states. We spoke for a while longer, discussed his family in Palm Beach, talked about the weather, laughed a bit.....a congenial nice man. I parked and made my way into the market and hobbled around that wonderful place, had a glorious Dunginess crab dinner at . Place Pigalle, (worthy of it's own review) ...and I guess you know where this is going.. Came out, tired ..and stuffed from said glorious dinner to..NO CAR! I thought for SURE it had been hot-wired and stolen . Had to find a nice person to let me use his phone ( a man who owned a map shop), 'cause my phone had no juice left and of course, my external charger was IN the car Arggg! Called the Police to find out that the parking enforcement division closes at 6pm and it was now 8pm and it would be closed the next day, Sunday, AND the NEXT day, Monday for President's Day ... BUT, I was welcome to call back Tuesday morning. Ummmmm no, I explained I needed to drive to Portland the next morning early, and I needed to report the car stolen right away! I know this has prolly happened to many people but I was dreading having to tell the very pleasant National Car Rental people at Sea-Tac that I um...lost their car After a 15 minute hold, with the map shop owner eying his watch yet smiling with concern as he CLOSED at 8pm, they came back on and told me that the car HAD been towed and the address where it could be found....which was a 20 buck cab ride.....and a $136 buck towing charge ( check, cash or cc or debit), and the lady showed me a pic the cops had taken of the car with the placard clearly visible......and she gave me the court address where I could show up to contest the ticket. Tuesday, bright and early, I called Parking Enforcement to find out that the placard was NOT the problem. The problem was that unbeknownst to me, and I dare say a lot of right coasters, is that Seattle clears some major streets during morning and evening rush hours to facilitate traffic. I had never heard of that. There were signs, I'm sure, but they were on the sidewalk by spaces that were filled and I didn't look beyond the parked cars. The citation was $47. I wrote them a letter, praising their beautiful city, (no lie, easy to do) and explained that I KNOW ignorance of the law is no excuse and it would have been SO EASY for the officer to tell me about that ordinance, he KNEW I was a Floridian and I would have parked in a lot, ($12 ), for the day which would have been eminently cheaper... and that Seattle would be a hard detour! Bottom line. They excused the fine.. Annoying, but everyone I dealt with was so polite and friendly. I contrast this with being with a friend on Miami Beach a couple months ago when her car was towed by the NOTORIOUS..NEFARIOUS...maybe BOTH!... Tremont Towing, their practices being WELL documented. ( $329) and ONLY cash and an extra $42 per night if you didn't HAVE cash on you, but you were welcome to use their ATM that ONLY had a $16 fee! xo-a read more

In the last 10 years, how many negative SPD events can you think of? Today, I called the West Precinct for help after a rather scary incident with an individual entirely unknown to me. May add more details if the case is pursued and/or closed, but suffice it to say, it sucked. The officers who showed up (after I told the suspect they were coming but the individual left anyway) were very thorough, helpful and kind. They all informed me that they were recording, and made sure that I was OK. The people who witnessed it also gave statements, and I am very grateful to them for their assistance and sympathy. However this turns out, SPD couldn't have been better. I should have called 911 but didn't because I wasn't hurt. It took awhile to get through to a person at the non-emergency number, but the guy I talked to was encouraging and also said it's OK to call 911 if something like this ever happens again. Of course, I sure as hell hope not, but for the first time I have only a small inkling of what it's actually like to be on the receiving end of unwarranted awful behavior from a stranger (**glares at the White House**). Anyway, the officers showed up in about 10 minutes. Cops everywhere get a bad rap. I wanted people to know that these guys did a very good job and deserve to be recognized for it. However things turn out, I felt like they genuinely wanted to help me and to do their jobs right. They did. Thank you. read more

They got my wallet, charged a bunch of stuff, so I had to file a report. Okay, here's the important stuff. When the cops came out to take the report and I told them the story, they laughed. Laughed! Freaking giggled, practically!. And cop #1 asks me, "Wait, so, you SLEPT through the break in?" And then starts laughing again. Cuz you know, it was SO funny! I wasn't having any problems sleeping, no way. Or nightmares. Definitely wasn't staying up nights freaking at every little sound and thinking about what would have happened if I'd woken up with some strange people robbing my apartment. Not scary at all. Assholes. Then he asks me why I didn't report it earlier. Well, I had to go to work, asshole. And then why rush? Like you were going to investigate? Nope, you were just gonna stand in my apartment and laugh at the silly girl who slept through a break in. Yeah. Awesome. But that was all water under the bridge, till another one of his comrades speeding through a parking lot decided to ram into my sweet little car that didn't never do nothing to him. So yeah, he hits my car, but instead of getting out and seeing if I or my passenger are okay, dude sits in his car and pulls up my record. I'm just hoping I'm not holding him up from rushing off to some crime, or to help some stranded orphan and her little scraggly dog. So I ask him, and he just smirks at me. Nope. Wasn't reporting anywhere. He was just being an asshole. You know, I don't expect that much from cops. But sometimes it sucks to be proven right. Maybe if I was on a ride-along, I could be impressed with their skills and management of a difficult job. So, I have no idea which precinct responded to my call since I got SPD via 911, but still, good job sir! So I'm out walking my dog at 4 AM. Really it was a Friday night and I hadn't really gone to bed yet but the little dog insisted she really had to go! I'm standing outside in my fabulous PJs while the dog does her business and I see two small kids (3 & 4 years old) walking down Beacon Ave.....alone. So I manage to catch up to the kids and turns out they have no idea where they really live or their phone number or anything. So I do what any rational person would do and call the police. After getting some definitely suspicious questions about what any other human being would be doing outside at 4 AM on the phone with the dispatcher and convincing them I'm not a crazy, they send a car. There is a police officer at my place in under 5 minutes. That's right, he was here, in under 5 minutes. Given he could have just been close by, but whatever. The nice police officer takes these kids off my hands after once again establishing I have not kidnapped, molested, or done anything else awful to these children and that I really did just happen to notice them walking down the street. The officer seemed nice enough, though obviously was a little unsure how to handle small children who weren't scared and apparently already disliked police officers. Minus one star for me being nearly interrogated for trying to be a good citizen. Really, if I had kidnapped the kids or had been out selling coke on the corner when I found them, I probably wouldn't have called you. Overall, good job though SPD. read more

Anyone reading this may or may not be familiar with my previous reviews of other companies or places. For those not in the knowing, I tend to bad lash in my reviews. This, for the record, will be my first good review. Seattle is a busy area to say the least. This review is directed at the south precinct (more specifically Rainier Beach). A lot of people have the idea that this part of town is a ghetto, and their not wrong to think that. So naturally the officers who serve this part of town have a higher risk than say Issaquah. On one occasion, I dealt with a former room mate who had been harassing and threatening me, my grandmother advised me to call the police (as a non emergency of course) to report it. Because of the crime in this area I knew it could take some time before actually speaking to an officer. When they showed up, they were very helpful, courteous and genuinely concerned. I was thankful for their help and grateful to know that there is no situation too big or small that they won't assist with. A lot of people don't like cops for what ever reason. I think it's because those people are either doing something wrong and can't get away with it, or because they got busted and still hold a grudge. But the second those people are getting robbed or attacked or (insert instance here) guess who they call. I'm not an 18 year old punk anymore, I'm an adult. With that being said, I have a high level of respect for these men and women. Especially the local precinct (south Seattle) that keeps the crack whores off my block. The officers that made time to help me with something that was clearly out of my control, the officer who does security in his off time (that my best friend drools over everyrtime we go to the store) and the officers on bikes who always waved to me when I mowed the lawn in my bikini last summer. First, a disclaimer: I respect anyone that is willing to put themselves at mortal peril to protect perfect strangers and keep the peace. I am only writing this review in the hope that it will help in some small way to improve the standards of the SPD and change the practices that have led to the various outrages and tragedies listed below. With that little business out of the way, let's start with the annoying but benign and move to the terrifying and criminal. On the topic of parking tickets: my good friend cut a date short to get back to her car within the time limit. She arrived at her vehicle a good ten or fifteen minutes before her meter was up to find an officer ticketing her. Yep, she was given a ticket for correctly and fully paying to park. Upon confronting the officer, she was given no explanation as to her supposed violation. The officer finally agreed not to complete the ticket as if she were doing my friend some kind of enormous favor. Keep it classy, guys. Jaywalking: A friend of mine in college received a $150 odd ticket for jaywalking with no surrounding traffic. A week later, her roommate received a $27 ticket for public urination (I know, I know, but I did point out that these were college friends). Apparently exorbitant jaywalking tickets are a better bet for "fund raising" than popping a squat. Oddly enough, the officer was not interested in WHY a nineteen year old girl was peeing in the street at one in the morning, so she dodged a Minor in Possession charge anyway. Now the terrifying: I'm sure I don't need to recount all the very public cases of shootings, wrongful deaths, comas, beatings, or minority bashing associated with SPD. All that I'll say about the various scandals is that, A: I'm petrified of encountering a Seattle Police officer for fear that things will escalate and I'll be shot/beaten/tased; and B: I'm disappointed in the hit our region's public image has been taking nationwide due to the vile and dangerous behavior of so many of our Police officers. read more

This was a recent comment I made on SPD's official website. In the past 11 years, my house has been burglarized twice, vehicles broken into three times, trespassed multiple times, mail stolen and, in July (2010) alone, I've had an attempted break-in, trespassing and my tires slashed. Every incident was reported and assigned a case number. Yet no one has ever been caught, in spite of the perpetrator's identity being given to SPD in one case and fingerprints taken in at least two of the incidents. When I've called to provide supporting information on any of my cases, I distinctly get the the feeling no one is writing anything down because my cases have already gone straight into the twilight zone. Meanwhile, in the past 11 years SPD has found the time to hand out tickets to me for driving the posted speed limit in a school zone while no children were present, driving 12 miles over the speed limit (twice), and now driving my partner's car with expired tabs. I also could not produce a current insurance card and was cited for it, though the insurance was up to date. One officer did the talking while the other went to the passenger side to ensure I didn't do anything threatening. It's good to know SPD is protecting the city from the vicious criminal that I am, a middle aged woman with no police record who pays taxes on two properties, stopped for a light on Mercer St. with seat belt on, cell phone off and a car in drivable condition. Let me explain further. I had borrowed my partner's car to drop off and pick up one of my tires that had been slashed two days before by a neighbor's hoodlum teenager. I usually never drive his car, but this time tires on both my car and truck had been slashed. The reason the tabs hadn't been renewed was because our mail was being stolen earlier this year, around the time when notification would have been sent. This is all the God's honest truth. The officers could have verified the case numbers and seen the new tire I had in the back of the car. Did they choose to be sympathetic? No. They chose to kick me and steal my wallet while I was already down -- a position SPD put me in by not protecting me or my property in the first place. So can you tell me, is "serve and protect" any part of SPD's job description? Or has it been replaced by "shoot fish in a barrel for fun and profit"? Why am I essentially paying for a service that, instead of solving cases and keeping me safe from real criminals, has targeted me as an easy mark? To me it appears SPD is embezzling money from its "employers" (the taxpayers) on top of the salary it receives for not doing the job it was hired to do. It is so frustrating to know that from the top down, everyone has their hand out and are trying to do the least amount of work for the most amount of money. But for SPD to clearly shirk its well-outlined services and duty to the community is a disgrace. read more

Okay, so I have been on 3 ride alongs in the North, West and East precincts and I still have the utmost respect for our Seattle officers. In fact, my respect has grown throughout the process of ride alongs. Tough job with lots of potential danger at every turn and many rules to play by and the public being very critical. My ride along in the East precinct seemed to be ther most dangerous feeling area of my three. We were in a high crime area with clubs were violence and drug dealing are rampant. People selling drugs at bus stops and we were making contact trying to encourage them to move along. It seems it can be a lonely job and difficult decisions have to be made in less than a second. For the EAST PRECINCT on Capitol Hill . . . Remember when a young woman was brutally murdered on Capitol Hill? Well, it took some time to catch the guy and many people were critical of the police, but I have to commend them. I attended a community meeting since I live down the street from where the murder happened. After hearing them speak and getting few answers, I emailed the east precinct about my concerns. Not only did I receive an email back within a week, but I also got a personal phone call from one of the sergeant's (not sure what they're called). He told me to call any time I have any concerns or questions, and asked me if there was anything else he could do to help me feel safe in my neighborhood. This review pertains ONLY to the fingerprinting office. Someday you also may be faced with a need for fingerprinting for a job. I went with temor. I have seen all those tv shows: Law and Order... I imagined being in a grey lobby in a line with people being processed for one thing or another.. No WAY. This office is in a side room. You have to follow paperwork directions. I got there at a no wait time, but the chairs in the waiting area tell a different story for other times. My technician was excellent in skill. Having fingerprinted many and supervised many working for the US Census I know the task, skill and how to accomplish a good set of prints. She did also. Calmly, quickly and politely. I give 4 stars due to the environment and the horrible area to walk in to wait for a bus.. I may rethink this later. Early in morn you are better off with exact change cash or a check. read more

I had the opportunity to meet two of their mounted enforcement guys. What a great group of people. They let people pet their horses and were giving all the kids sticker badges. Every other officer I saw was laughing and talking with a citizen. They seem to really enjoy what they do. read more

I recommend going to the Seattle Police Department to do your fingerprints, I got 4 cards, DONE BY THEM for $7 EACH, the total was still cheaper than the UPS store's. Their fingerprinting service was superior in efficiency and quality. As an extra bonus, the workers at the police department were so nice to me and I even stayed a couple minutes after the process was done to talk with them. PS, The police station guarantees that your fingerprints will be accepted by whoever you send them to, if they are declined, you can go back and redo them FREE of charge. That was some serious customer service. read more
