I contacted Wessco Blinds while getting quotes for custom shades in my new loft, and they were the…read morefirst company I ruled out. The biggest issue is pricing. Their quote came in significantly higher than any other companies I spoke with, but nothing about the proposal made me feel it was worth that kind of premium...Once I started comparing options side by side, Wessco just did not seem competitive in terms of value, functionality, or overall solution. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying more for quality when the difference is obvious. In this case though, the pricing felt hard to justify, especially when other vendors were offering stronger smart-home integration and more compelling options and discounts overall. The interaction itself was not terrible, but the quote made the decision easy. I moved on quickly and focused on companies that offered a better balance of cost and value. Definitely get multiple quotes before making a decision, because the pricing differences between companies can be pretty eye opening.

We have purchased about a dozen shades from Wessco over the past seven years or so. Their showroom…read moreis great, their sales people are top notch, Lance in particular is super nice and great to work with. And we've always had a great experience with the installers as well. We purchased manual shades for our upstairs and our basement but unfortunately decided to get the Hunter Douglas Automated shades for our main floor. After almost a decade of trouble shooting, installing new battery packs and motors I think it's more than safe to say they are complete garbage. Recently when we had a tech out to install all new parts on our automated shades. Wessco gave us free labor for the motor install but the technician only installed 3 of the 4 motors. We also purchased new battery packs as well. The technician said that after installing all new parts if we still continue to have issues to come into the store and get a new hub. . Well, lo and behold, installing all new parts did absolutely nothing with the new parts they gave us. They fell off the network and I've had to go back and reset everything again. I work in tech so I don't mind troubleshooting things but these shades are horrible. I called this week to see about the refund on the fourth motor, and to see if I could get a new hub since we still continue to have issues with the shades. Kami said she has no record of the motor not getting installed and told me that if I want a new hub it will be another $300 charge. Maybe it's just me but if I spend about $10,000 with Wessco for extremely subpar product, I would look into comping the new hub a staff member offered to me. Thanks for the memories, Wessco. Shades.com is our future from now on.

I found Window-ology on Yelp and was very impressed with the entire experience, from getting an…read moreestimate to having the work installed. They provided a combination of cellular top down/bottom up coverings, roller shades, a blackout roller shade option, and motorization for my home. I did reach out to several other companies for estimates, and there are a few reasons why I chose Window-ology over the others. 1. Pricing is VERY reasonable. While Window-ology was not the least expensive option, it was lower than the overall average price. The pricing to go with Hunter Douglas branded treatments with motorization was very comparable to lower quality brands without motorization. 2. Unlike other companies, Window-ology is a Hunter Douglas service center. This means that they do repairs in-house, even from other companies. This gave me confidence that they knew the Hunter Douglas brand and how to work with the equipment. 3. They provide a comprehensive warranty, so if I have any issues with the window coverings, I can call them. They will come to me, uninstall window treatments, and handle the repairs. Other companies may offer what you think is a comprehensive warranty like this, even saying, "We will replace or repair at no cost to you." However, if you ask to read their product warranty, you'll see what's not covered is shipping charges, cost of removal, and reinstallation. I found this misleading with other vendors and appreciate how upfront Window-ology is about their outstanding service and coverage. 4. For my particular needs, I wanted to have motorization for a top down/bottom up covering. Some other brands do not offer this capability. I also have a rather large window that other companies could not cover with a single roller shade (they would need to break that window up into two roller shades). I appreciated that Window-ology could cover it all with one piece of fabric. It was very straight forward to get an estimate scheduled. Pamela came by to share fabrics while she quickly measured. I received the quote with options I had requested to see pricing differences between brands and with/without motorization. When I called the owner, Hal, with questions, he was very helpful in explaining everything. Once I had my options picked out, Pamela even came by one last time per my request to review the final options we had selected (she picked a couple on my behalf based on adding motorization). Her selections were spot on and perfect. James came to install everything, and I was blown away with how quickly he got all the window treatments up. He showed up on time within the 30 minute time slot arrival window. It probably took about two hours for him to install 27 window coverings! He did a fantastic job and then walked me through how to use them, maintenance, and setting up the app for the motorized windows. I HIGHLY recommend picking Window-ology for your window covering needs. The experience was incredible, product high quality, and service phenomenal.

It is with a heavy heart that I must update my previous 5-star review of Budget Blinds…read more The original reason for that rating was simple, a saleswoman named Heidi. She was absolutely wonderful to work with. Professional, responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping me find a solution that worked for my space and budget. She made me feel like a valued customer, and at the time, I truly believed this was a company I could confidently recommend. Unfortunately, the experience completely unraveled from there. Once it became apparent that my new apartment technically fell outside Heidi's ZIP code "territory" by what feels like an arbitrary boundary line, she was abruptly removed from the project entirely and I was forced into working with another installer, Caleb. Mind you, this was essentially right across the street from the original service area. Same city. Same project. Same customer. Yet apparently internal franchise politics mattered more than continuity or customer experience. I even tried to escalate this to the owner, and no exceptions were made. The difference in professionalism and urgency was immediate and obvious. Where Heidi had been proactive and communicative, the new experience felt cold, slow, transactional, and heavily focused on pushing extremely expensive proprietary systems with price tags that made absolutely no sense for a rental apartment. I was very transparent from the beginning about my goals and budget, yet it quickly became clear there was little interest in helping unless I was willing to spend a small fortune. And once it became obvious I had no intention of moving forward with outrageously priced luxury options, communication practically disappeared altogether. That was honestly the most disappointing part. The feeling that the moment I was no longer seen as a massive sale, the customer service vanished with it. Ironically, I was able to order my own blinds online, and ultimately found another installer willing to simply measure and install shades I independently purchased myself, without all the territorial nonsense, sales pressure, and inflated pricing. So to be clear, this review is NOT about Heidi. She was excellent, and frankly deserved better than the situation she was put in as well. This review is about a company structure that prioritizes ZIP code ownership, aggressive upselling, and franchise politics over actual customer care. I don't leave negative reviews lightly, especially after previously leaving such a glowing one. But this entire experience left an incredibly bad taste in my mouth, and I think future customers deserve to know exactly what they may be walking into.
