I had a retractable awning installed by NW Natural Lighting. Everything went incredibly well. While waiting for my awning to be ready, I needed to have an electrician come and install an outdoor outlet in preparation. The day of install, two nice guys were here from 8:30am to 3-ish and the job is complete. The awning is exactly what I wanted aesthetics wise, and is super simple to operate. I got a full cassette with a wind sensor. Now I look forward to using my deck much more. I chose NW Natural Lighting based upon their knowledge, their communication, a nicely detailed estimate, no hard sell or upsell to something unnecessary, and everyone I had contact with at the company was helpful, nice and courteous. After dealing with them since March, we have decided that they are no longer trustworthy enough to entrust with this contract and have cancelled it, losing over 7k in the process. They are liars about what they are doing, did not submit drawings until 3 weeks after their promised date and only after I followed up with them. This company is hands down the most caring, responsive, and professional group I have ever worked with - and I am a very picky person when it comes to service. My Dog Milo is very sick with pleural effusion, and he can't handle the heat. In early June, our home became too hot for him to safely breathe, but we can't use air conditioning. We decided on solar shades. I called around multiple companies but because it was peak season no one could help us before the 4th of July. Then I called NW Natural Lighting, and everything changed. I spoke with Tara, explained our situation and she immediately said she would try to rearrange the schedule to help. Within 20 minutes she called back and said they could install before the 4th - less than three weeks away because we had a medical need. I was stunned and incredibly moved. Most companies would have just said, "Sorry" but Tara and the team made it happen because they understood the urgency due to Milos health. Russell, the sales consultant, came out and was amazing. He was friendly, honest, and incredibly knowledgeable. It felt like talking to someone who genuinely wanted to help - not just make a sale. When the quote came in a little over budget, Russell worked hard to find discounts to bring the cost down to where I could move forward. This kind of care and flexibility during their busiest time of the year is just unheard of. Because of Milo's condition I couldn't have anyone inside the house. Eric, the project manager, showed up and without hesitation climbed the ladder and hopped over our second story railing to take the necessary measurements. He was so kind and understanding about our situation. He even helped me figure out how to cover our half circle window above our western facing windows with a custom solution for very little extra cost. That moment told me everything I needed to know about the company: they solve problems, and they care. We hit a bump when I learned they didn't offer the 99% solar shade in white - only 97%. I panicked and was ready to cancel everything, thinking it wouldn't be enough to protect Milo from the intense afternoon heat. What happened next blew me away: Nate, one of the owners, personally called me with Eric on the line. He listened patiently, apologized for the mix up, and offered me a generous discount. He really understood that this was about the health and safety of my dog and was willing to stand behind the product he was recommending. That kind of accountability and compassion is so rare and very appreciated. Eric even offered to drive over that night (it was after hours) and show me a sample of the 97%. So amazing! On installation day, Jason and Connor arrived and were just as wonderful as everyone else. They were extremely polite, mindful of Milo's condition, and very careful not to use any chemicals or make excessive noise. Since they couldn't come inside, they carried the heavy solar shade for the second-floor balcony sliding glass door up a ladder and over a railing without a single complaint. They were happy to do it, they said. They laid down tarps outside where they were cutting trim and vacuumed up the outside after they were done. They ran the cables beautifully and with aesthetic care, and they were so respectful and kind I joked that I would miss having them around! The crew at NW Natural Lighting is top notch. We had 6 solatubes installed in December 2025 and are extremely pleased. At the beginning of this month (March 2026). I noticed what appeared to be dead bugs in a couple of the tubes. I called late in the afternoon and received the VM. I left a message and the next morning I had text letting me know they would have someone in our area the next week to come check things out. Due to the sharp angles on our roof line where a couple tubes were installed, there were a couple spots that were not sealed up completely. They were fixed on the spot and all of the other tubes were inspected to ensure no more bugs would enter. They were very prompt, professional and a pleasure to work with. I would have given them four stars but this company is not local and is out of Edmonds, WA. while I live in Battle Ground, WA. This is an important bit of information to consider if you need to call upon them for service down the road. I still feel strongly to request the customer at ages 68 and 71 years old to get on a ladder to lubricate the housing was ridiculous. I can't ignore this fact. I understand why a company might ask a customer to do this however for the older customers it just is not prudent. I do recognize they later realized their request was a mistake. A true learning experience! Follow-up to my prior review. It is July 10, 2025 and today someone finally came out to look at my installed screen. The largest screen is only a year old and is making a grinding noise. This noise was not present at installation nor during the last 11 months, at the very least. The Company had no concerns over the grinding noise nor did they feel it would harm the screens. I did not know this until they told us very recently. We first contacted this company about the grinding noise on or around June 27, 2025 after sending them a recording of the screen moving up . The noise was present whether the screen was moving up or down. The employee today stated "the larger screens have greater friction because of their weight" and may have the chance of a greater noise Issue. He stated he did find some "minor debris" inside the housing which is not completely sealed. I found out a lot more information this time than I did originally. These screens are not completely maintenance free . They do recommend lubricating the tracks and washing the actual screens off maybe every other month. The pressure on the screen from the wind when opening and closing the screen can cause an issue so the employee suggested we be aware of the wind velocity which we are diligent about. We are two seniors who take extremely good care of things around our house and this screen is no exception. The employee also noticed how well we have taken care of both screens. The employee cleaned the debris and heavily lubricated the mechanism and the grinding noise is intermittent now. As a potential customer just be aware of these things before deciding. The screens are a Godsend to us for various reasons and the product seems to be good in-spite of the issues we are having. My recommendation is to do your research and choose wisely. These screens are not cheap! It is your sole decision whether the cost of good screens is worth the expense. For us the expense was worth it. just be aware of all the factors. read more

We installed a solatube in our very dark staircase/small landing area. It went from being a dark cave to being bright and cheery. I'm so so glad we got on board and had this thing installed. They're much cheaper and far less prone to leaks and issues than traditional sky lights, sure I can't see the sky but for the cost and peace of mind it's an excellent solution. We had a hard time scheduling since they call from a number just named "montlake terrace" and not their business name so I wasn't taking their calls but once we connected they were super flexible about coming out and installing around our very busy schedule. The whole install took ~2 1/2 hours and the installer explained everything to me about how it works, how to clean it (if I wanted to) how to check it for leaks, replace the batteries in the night light (which currently gets you a 30% federal tax break on the entire thing!) and explained how it was installed on the roof, which is the same as any other vent that would be in your roof. Overall very happy with the results, the product, the install, the sales rep, everything. Would definitely recommend this to anyone struggling with dark places in your home. read more

Nick was able to find a suitable place despite all the duct work, so we could light up our long dark grand entry hallway. He was in our neighborhood area earlier than the appointment time and when they called to ask if we could do earlier, we were happy to. We have a rambler with 12 foot ceilings and a very high attic so it looks like we have a second story. We had ten inch ones installed in the kitchen and the dining room with normal surround caps Classic Fusion; one 14" in the Great Room with the Tier Drop and one in the front hallway. We needed extensions due to the high roof. Definitely brings natural light into these darker areas. On bright days, we have to keep looking to make sure we didn't leave a light on, kind of amusing! One half of our house is dark, there is just no getting around it. It's depressing. At least that's what I thought, until I heard about solar tubes. I googled it, did my research, and found NW Natural Lighting. They're the only company around that has the real branded ones, not like the ones at Home Depot (which I didn't even know existed until a few weeks ago). I sent them an email and they were very prompt with their response and Dawn came out to give us a consultation right away. She was great with our surly dachshund and gave lots of advice on our options; she even told us about a sale I wasn't aware of that was going on that saved us $100! So we opted to get a 14" tube with a lighting kit above our entry way, and a 10" tube with lighting kit at the end of the hallway. The install was great. Our appointment was scheduled for noon and Joel called in the morning and said he could come earlier if we wanted (we did), and he was done within a few hours. He put cloths down to protect our floor and did a great job. Now we have a TON more light in that part of the house, and as an added bonus, since we got the light kits (where you can connect the electrical and use as a light switch at night), we also got rid of our ugly light fixtures. Win win win! I highly recommend these people. They are so nice, straightforward about the options and good at what they do. Not to mention these solar tubes are much cheaper and low maintenance than a skylight. Wow! What a difference in our hall bathroom - even on a cloudy day! Our Solatube was installed so quickly and quietly. When I first saw it "in action" the daylight was spilling into our hallway - just as much, if not more than the daylight from a south facing bedroom. It's so nice not having to turn the light on. The really interesting thing is even though the Solatube is placed on the north side of the roof, the bathroom looks "sunny". It must be the special roof feature capturing the light because our 2' x 4' traditional box skylight further down the roof was less light on that same day. read more

Sharing the goodness, great company, products and service. I recently organized a group install for our town home community with Nate, for 20 solar powered attic ventilation fans. They were very accommodating to our scheduling needs and Eric their installer went the extra mile in working with me at time of install, he was very knowledgeable and a real pro. Prices were very reasonable, so I didn't have to brake the porcelain piggie for extra coin compared to the other companies I checked, but even better, their customer service was second to none. The fan, a Solar 2400 has excellent warranty and performance. My 1600 sq ft. tri level was unbearable in temps above 80f, now it has been comfortable all the way into the upper 80s, so yes this product dramatically decreases interior temperatures especially on the upper (hottest) floor. It's actually hotter now, in my ground level garage than my 3rd floor office thanks to the constant air turn over this attic fan provides. The beauty is, the fan is totally silent and being solar powered, costs nothing to run. Huzzah. read more

I visited the show room specifically to look at the solar tubes for light in my kitchen. The addition of the solar fan was to help with summer heat. My kitchen is so much brighter, I am very much pleased with this addition. It has made such an improvement cooking, seeing whats on the counter... night light. Excellent product. Also, I struggled with my little (800 sq ft) house warming up when the outside temperature was over 70 degrees...
