I had tired of expressways and spent the day on state and county highways. I was getting hungry and happened upon K-18 Cafe. The lovely Keera (not a typo) was my server. The chicken fried steak was great and drowning gravy. I added quite a bit of pepper to remind me of home. I ordered a slice of homemade peach pie for the road and enjoyed it two hours later at my gas stop.

The Java chip, though, was a letdown. It was advertised as a blended coffee, but it had zero coffee flavor. I ended up ordering a shot of espresso to add to it, which helped a bit. Without the shot, I'd give it a 3/10--with the shot, maybe a 5/10. After that, we headed upstairs to the brewery. The friends we were with were impressed by the huge selection of beers, ciders, and wines on tap. I ordered the margherita flatbread and oh my god--so freaking good. 10/10, no question. I'd order it again in a heartbeat. Everyone else was happy with their food too, and our server was super friendly and really attentive. Overall, great vibes, great service, and that flatbread was the star of the show!

There's a variety of food to fit everyone's appetite, including children. There are no "children's baskets" but you can ask for half orders, etc. Steaks are home made, including the chicken fried steaks. Monday thru Friday during lunch is typically very busy, this is where you may receive slow service and may end up having to order off the menu because specials are limited, although you can order off the menu any time of the day. Sundays are also this way. On the other hand, if you want great service and conversations from the waitresses, stop by in the evenings. Most of the time the evenings are slower, especially after 6:30 pm. Saturdays can differ in business, depending upon events in town. Hours: Monday thru Friday 7 am to 8 pm (late fall/winter) and 9 pm (early spring/summer) Saturday and Sunday 8 am to 2 pm Breakfast served all day, everyday, except during Sunday lunch.
