I was desperately looking for someone that I felt truly comfortable with leaving my fur-babies with, we were fairly new puppy parents at the time and our adorable pups were just 10 months old when we were leaving town for a week and didn't have anyone to stay with them. We literally spoke to at least 10 people and actually visited with 5 when we felt really good about Jessica and her place! You can just tell she has a passion for the work that she does. She was super professional, kind and very patient with all of my questions. My boys were very excited to see her at the meet & greet! And I was able to Check-in on them during the week with pics! So cute! Prices were reasonable, service was excellent and most importantly- my boys (pups) were well taken care of!! This place is the BEST. I have taking my dog babies there since they opened. I don't understand how someone (Jennifer W) could give this place a 2 star review. Reading her review about what she said about her own dog makes me think she is crazy. If my dog misbehaved like that I would be so apologetic, I would not laugh about it. They have always made dropping off and picking up so easy. My dog is all leashed up and ready to go. It can be quite busy at drop off and pick up but Jessica and her staff make it run smoothly. The prices are great, the hours are great and the people whom care for the pets are great. If you don't like the care maybe you can hire a nanny to sit at your house all day and take your Bully to the dog park and beach to run off leash. To put a positive comment to end this. I just recently had to leave my big girl for boarding for 3 months I had surgery and couldn't have her jumping on me. When I got her back she has almost completely stopped jumping up on me. The Newark/Fremont area is utterly lacking when it comes to dog daycare and dog "adventure" walkers. (I don't mean someone just walking your dog around the block on a leash; I mean the real type of dog walking that people do in places like SF or the Peninsula, where they take your dog on an off-leash hike at Fort Funston, Pulgas, or Mclaren Park.) But I digress. I lived in the Newark/Fremont area for a year and I searched up and down for either a dog adventure walker (non-existent) or a doggy daycare (virtually non-existent, this place was one of two that I found.) Having just moved from SF where my dog grew up with daily off-leash hikes (see Prime Paw and Millers Menagerie) and top-notch doggy daycares (see High Tail Hotel), coming here was a real culture shock. Two stars because at least a doggy daycare exists, so it's better than nothing, and my dog didn't die or get injured here. By comparison to what I consider an awesome doggy daycare (High Tail Hotel), this place is pretty bad. It may be OK if you have an older, smaller, and/or lower-energy dog. This place actually puts the dogs in crates (for god knows how many hours per day), because the staff here goes out during the day for errands/other part-time jobs, there are gardeners coming, and various other excuses. "Crate" is pretty much a dirty word in SF doggy daycares, but I had to put up with it here. They've converted a small area adjacent to the yard to a dog area where they put a bunch of crates and cleaning supplies. It's too small of an area for dogs to be playing inside, so I'm not sure if they're all just sitting inside the crates when it's raining outside? There is a smallish yard where the dogs can go out to play. There are about 7 dogs per day, and they take turns going out. Crate issues aside, I don't like how there isn't always a person onsite during the day. Not only is it unsafe, you also can't get your dog any time you wish during business hours. Not to mention the obvious, which is that you're paying for a daycare when no one is actually there taking care of the dogs. The business hours are pretty terrible. They open at around maybe 7AM, drop off ends before 8:30AM, and all dogs must be picked up by 6PM. These are not very accommodating hours for people who go to work late and come home late. And sadly, half the time I'm there to pick him up, he's just sitting in a crate. I kind of cringed coming here every weekday. The owner is...let's just say someone I'd rather avoid. She can be nice at times, other times she can be rude or display erratic behavior. Like when I first inquired about this place, I asked a bunch of questions, normal questions, like, do you use positive reinforcement, where will you take them if there is an emergency, how many hours do they sit in the crate vs. going outside, etc., and while she eventually (grudgingly) answered, she was very annoyed, a bit rude with an attitude, and complained that no one else had every asked so many questions. There was also no meet-and-greet to make sure it's a mutual good fit. She said people just drop off their dog on the first day. I mean, this could all be the norm here, but it was shockingly substandard IMO. There was another time when my dog jumped up, tried to grab her hand (with his mouth), then twisted himself up and fell down on his side, which was pretty funny to watch. I have a bully breed, he can be mouthy and hyper at times (never hard or breaking skin, more in a "come play with me" sort of way). So then the owner, who was nicely talking to me just a minute ago, trying to sell me some of the snake oil she was peddling (aka, dog skin supplement that supposedly cures contact dermatitis), suddenly flipped out and stormed off mid-sentence! I brushed it off as odd, but after we get home, I get this long rambling text from her going on and on about how I should've disciplined my dog for trying to bite her, how I shouldn't laugh at her, and this was absolutely all awful, unacceptable behavior. My first thought wasn't even that she was unprofessional, rather, I thought her behavior was pretty nutty and unstable, and frankly a bit scary. I didn't try to make sense of it, nor did I reply. After that encounter, I avoid this place (scary owner) like the plague and started driving my dog (out of the way) back to the SF daycare. I didn't want another creepy encounter with Jessica. On the upside, the staff who works here is sorta nice and sweet, though seemingly dispassionate about dogs and perhaps a tiny bit disgruntled, but treated my dog nicely (I think). The prices are OK, $25/day, and you can cancel anytime. I got an email saying this place is closing at the end of the year 2019 because the neighbors are incessantly complaining about dogs barking. I've also moved out of the area a month after we quit this place. So overall not the worst ending. read more

I dropped off my dog @9:00am, texted to see how he is doing at 11:17. They responded back at 2:55pm saying my dog has been "barking nonstop". My dog never barks unless there is something serious happening. When I talked to Mona she said she had to leave for dog walking ( other dogs outside, another part of their business) and to take care of other things bc she is leaving for her trip on Tuesday and had some dentist appointments.... while the dogs were in their crates. I had this dog since he was 8 wks old. He never ever pooped in his crate. Today, when I picked him up he was covered w dried poop. Mona offered me to clean him w napkin a little before getting in my car. I asked Mona if I could see where my dog was kept and she said she can not show me inside. I asked how many dogs she had today and she never gave me an answer. I was supposed to do boarding this weekend and Mona offered me to get him drugs to calm him down!!!! This place takes too many dogs in at the same time, keep them in crates all day while doing dog walking for other people without having any supervision over the dogs inside. when I expressed how I felt about the service Jessica responded back w a rude manner that my dog is not crate trained, they could have washed the poop off my dog for $80 and it is not my business what Mona is doing during the day ( while my dog is at their home)!!!! MY dog was abandoned today and I am hoping that this is only one time happening and hope other dogs are taken care well at this place. read more

She obviously has a problem. She also said that she might be out sometimes. What does that mean? I immediately started having trust issues. We met Erica about 10 years ago at Central Vet in Fremont and she is now and will always be our go-to dog-sitter. Did our 130 pound Pyrenees try to scare the hell out of her on her first night to the house? He sure did! Did that stop her from becoming best friends with him? Nope. Erica really does go above and beyond, as some other reviewers have mentioned. When our guy has an accident in the house, Erica does what needs to be done to get it cleaned up. When she senses that our pooch is having tummy troubles, she brings home-cooked chicken and rice over for dinner to help him feel better! Forget Petco or some of the other larger pet places in the area; they do not compare. Jessica is a trusted, friendly animal lover who's careful attention to my dog while I'm away far exceeds any of the other kennels and doggy day cares that I've tried. Her dog boarding space is homey and comfortable. My dog Cosmo loves his little bed there. Jessica gives all of the dogs plenty of play time together outside. Champion is as good as it gets. I just picked up Toby (a 3 year old Pomeranian) from here. He loved it! I would recommend Jessica and her services to anyone! Jessica is very warm and personable. You can really tell she likes dogs and knows what she's doing! Picking the right place to take care of Toby is very important to my wife and I because until we have kids, Toby is our little boy and we want the best for him. There are other establishments I've taken other dogs too, but when I pick them up, I'm dismayed to find them shivering and scared. That was definitely not the case with Toby. You could tell he had a great time! She even sent me a text while I was out of town to tell me how he was doing. Even before I dropped off Toby over the weekend, Jessica had already made such a good impression on me with her follow up, sincere concern to provide the best care for Toby and all of her patience with answering every question I had. So much so that I recommended my sister to her. My sister had some concerns and to address them, Jessica allowed her to bring Otis (her mutt) over to check things out. Made sure Nala felt comfortable, communicated with us throughout the stay so we knew Nala was okay. Erica has watched my baby for about 7 years now. She is one of the only people I trust with our baby and it's so nice to not have to board her and worry about her when we are on vacation. My daughter used to be able to watch my two little dogs when we were out of town. Then she moved with her family to Tracy!! What to do?!?! My daughter knew Jessica Champion and highly recommended her. To date, I have used Jessica's services twice and I love her!! My dogs love her!!! That's good enough for me :-) But let me tell you why I love Jessica and the way she handles her business. First, she is professional in every aspect of her business. Second, the dogs are cared for in her home!!! That is really something to me!! No outside concrete, wire-fenced kennels for the furbabies!! Nope, inside her home!! Jessica's property has a large fenced-in backyard and the dogs are taken out frequently for potty breaks and just plain running around. A big PLUS--her yard has a large grass area!! Third, and most important, I don't worry one bit when I leave my pups with Jessica!! (OK, yes I do feel bad when leaving my dogs to travel.) But I don't worry with Jessica watching over my dogs like they were her own!!! Here's an example: Last November, we traveled to Virginia for my grandson's graduation from his Advanced Training in the Army. The day after we arrived, I received a text from Jessica that one of my dogs had some slimey diarrhea :-(.....sorry but that's what it was. I explained which dog was doing it and that it was "stress diarrhea" and no veterinary intervention was needed. Jessica promptly thanked me for the information and all was good the rest of the trip. We found out about Jessica and Champion Pet Sitting & Services from the folks at Central Vet in Fremont, where we take all of our pets. She used to work there, so we were reassured that we could trust her business with caring for our pets during a recent week-long trip we took. The thing that really attracted us to this service is that Jessica would be caring for our pets at our home. We felt more comfortable leaving them in a familiar environment rather than in a kennel. We have 3 small dogs, so keeping them in a comfortable and open space was important to us...and what better place than our own house! We also have a cat, who wouldn't do well in a kennel...so we normally need someone to check in on him at the house anyhow. So the arrangement we had with Jessica was perfect for our unique situation. Jessica was very professional & organized when it came to getting the background on all of our pets. She took the time to come by our house a couple times to meet all of our pets before our trip to get to know them and familiarize herself with their space and their daily routine. She was open to customizing her care services to fit our specific needs and requirements. She was very friendly and obviously knew how to deal with pets, so that reassured us even more that we were leaving them -- along with our home -- in very capable hands. While we were away, Jessica made sure she provided us with regular updates on how our pets were doing, and even snapped a couple photos with her phone to send to us. She was very responsive if we ever had any questions or concerns. She did more than just feeding and checking in our pets. She walked the dogs, cleaned out the cat's litter box, and even watered our plants, both indoor and outdoor. We have used Jessica and her sitters for nearly a decade, from when she first opened the doors. At the time we had a 3 legged pug that boarded at her home, and we've always had various cats that needed home visits. She's extremely conscientious and accommodating for the dogs that she boards. Her own dogs actually helped my rescue, socializing him into a more outgoing, happy dog, because when we got him he was easily frightened and overwhelmed. He loved "sleep away camp"! Our dog once had a medical issue before his stay with her. When there was an issue with his stitches she immediately took him to the vet, and we were so glad he was with her - he got immediate attention, above and beyond care, and kept us in the loop the whole time. (Little buddy was fine, but because he was in good hands!) When he got much older, deaf, and lost his hearing, they took excellent care of him, making sure he only played with dogs who would not knock him over. Our house visits are great. 2x a day for the kitties and tortoises. We always seem to have a cat that needs medication, and they handle this too, allowing us the peace of mind to actually leave if one of our pets is sick. Jessica and crew are fantastic. Our cat is very difficult with people he doesn't know but Jessica and Julie did an excellent job taking care of him during our vacations. This is a place I strongly recommend. Since the moment I contacted Jessica on Yelp up to the moment when I picked up my baby :-) Yes, I call my cat my baby and this is why it's so important to find a top place to leave him when I travel. The pricing was reasonable , Jessica gave me all the info very fast and clear, no additional pitches and no hidden fees. Now, the place can fool you from the outside because it looks like a normal house in the block. Once you enter you can feel you've arrived. Extremely clean, organized and cozy for both furry friends: she boards cats and dogs. I used the boarding option but they also do some pet sitting and from what I read they are equally awesome at that. She was flexible with my needs for drop off and pick up times , even during a holiday weekend! The cages for cats are spacious and clean. If your cat is shy will be kept on his own cage or can play with others if it is a social player. I brought my food with me because my cat has some prescription food but they provide otherwise. I can't give enough praises to this place. Highly recommended and for sure got a repeat client in me!!! read more

I needed a pet sitter for an entire week while I was out of town. I now have two dogs, and my parents usually take my little one.
