    If I could give zero stars, I would…read more Smart Move completely mishandled my move from start to finish. They showed up with the wrong size truck, which meant I was forced to move two car loads and two additional truckloads myself because their truck couldn't fit everything. That alone is unacceptable and completely unprofessional. To make matters worse, they showed up with TWO moving blankets. For an entire third-floor apartment move. It was shocking. How do you send a moving crew out that unprepared? Ryan and Steven, the actual movers, were nice and tried their best but they said they never send just two guys to do a third floor move. I was quoted for 2 1/2 hours, and somehow the job dragged out to 5 1/2 hours, leaving me with a bill that was nearly $700 MORE than what I was quoted and budgeted for. No clear explanation. No accountability. This was a third-floor apartment, and the person I booked with failed to write that down, so they only sent two movers. Completely unprepared for the amount of work involved. My family and friends worked harder than the actual moving crew did. We were carrying items and making extra trips while they moved at an unbelievably slow pace. It honestly felt like we were paying them while doing the majority of the work ourselves. When we reached out to the owner hoping for a fair resolution, he was not helpful at all. It took three days just to get a response, and their "solution" was to credit us for ONE hour of work. After all of that. So now I'm left with an extremely high bill that I never agreed to and never expected, for a move that was mismanaged from the very beginning. This was hands down the worst moving experience I have ever had, and I will never recommend this company to anyone. If you value your time, money, or sanity -- DO NOT USE SMART MOVE.

    DO NOT HIRE SMART MOVE, LLC (BILLY CHARLES CAPPS III) !!!…read more I hired Smart Move, LLC. in May 2025. Paulina Martelo is who booked my appointment. She went above and beyond to get me on their schedule and spoke very highly of the moving crew they have. She said they amaze her (that is very disturbing considering my experience ). My items were dropped off and almost everything they touched were DAMAGED. 1) Mirror Sideboard - The frame and mirror are both cracked. This happened while they had possession of it on their truck. They were not going to tell me about the damage but when they delivered it but they forgot to remove some clamps attached, saying that they tried to "fix" it. 2) Italian leather king headboard - A hole is gashed into the headboard and scratched throughout. They did not even get the headboard into the bedroom it belongs in, instead it was left in the garage. 3) Dresser - Delivered with cracks and scratches. 4) Washing machine - A mover dropped the machine while carrying it to the truck and the frame cracked. 5) Sofa & Loveseat - A mover sliced the bottom open with box cutter while taking the plastic wrap off of it. 6) New House - They dented and scratched up the sheet rock in my new house (walls and wood staircase). I followed their process to complete and submit a claim form (to include pictures) before the deadline. When I tried to follow up with them, a worker named Pablo answered the phone and would not help me or let me speak to someone that would. He talked very hateful and yelled at me that I could not speak to the claims department or the manager/owner. I was charged a total of $2,092 for them to move my things within a 10 mile radius and they wrecked almost every item they touched. It took 4 movers, 8 hours, to move 1 king bed, 2 nightstands, 1 dresser, 2 leaning mirrors, 1 sideboard, 1 desk, 1 bookcase, 1 treadmill, 1 sofa, 1 loveseat, 1 washer, 1 dryer . They also charged my cc an additional $100 without authorization (after the move was completed and the movers left). I am currently working with The BBB & WRAL 5 On Your Side to dispute this company's actions. These people are a complete joke! They take your money and hide behind a computer/phone.     The security gate was out of service for several months. That was frustrating since the main reason…read moreI chose this location was the fact that it had a security gate and cameras. But my main complaint is that my building had ROACHES and the staff was very non-chalant in handling the issue. After seeing roaches three days in a row, I easily found the culprit. The door to the unit 3 doors down from me had HUNDREDS of adult and baby roaches on it! I immediately reported it and the property manager (younger white guy with a ponytail) simply said he'd have the exterminator spray more thoroughly in that building next time (not until the following week!). Then offered to bomb my unit if I could meet the guy there. That was fine but that was on a Thursday or Friday and I started thinking about how quickly roaches multiply...so my husband went over and sprayed the whole building that weekend instead of waiting around for the staff to call me. After a week, I was still seeing roaches. I went back to the office and tried to show them a video of just how many roaches there were surrounding that unit but they were not interested in looking at it and basically blew me off. I will admit the staff was always polite but just did not show any urgency or concern in eliminating the roaches. I was a Social Worker for over 10 years so I've seen my share of roaches. But I'm storing my business inventory in my unit and having roaches is just not acceptable! After 3 weeks of still seeing roaches, I decided to move out. It's been almost 2 months since I moved my inventory. I've bombed my new unit twice after finding roaches in my inventory. I'm so disgusted! This situation should have been handled with a lot more urgency and concern. I wasn't offered any compensation or discount for the inconvenience. Actually, due to the timing of the weekends, I didn't put my notice in right at the end of my month because I assumed they would just pro-rate my month. They refused so i had to pay for another full month at that roach motel! I would never recommend this place to anyone.
