PNC recently bought out 1st Bank. I had been banking at 1st Bank for over 40 years. Hoping for a…read moresmooth transition, at first it was. Subsequently, not so much. I transfered to a credit union and commented to close 2 ot 4 accounts. It took me 5 visits to close my checking account down. And let's not talk about understaffing. Of course here, nothing could be done. One employee was on leave and low staffing would not change for a couple of months. No new hires, no one transfered in, no one to replace. They have only 2 tellers for the foreseeable future. Sorry, not really a service oriented bank.

I live in Longmont, Colorado. I've been with 1st Bank for about 45 years or more; my first account…read morewas with the Cherry Creek branch in Denver. It represented community banking at its best. What PNC has managed to do in the short time it's taken over 1st Bank is thoroughly and remarkably awful. I had an account at BBVA at one time, in addition to my 1st Bank account. When PNC acquired/merged with BBVA, my experience was awful then as well. Customer service, if one could call it that, was, for me, virtually non-existent. I closed my account as soon as i could. My experience of the 1st Bank/PNC merger/acquisition has been even worse. It's been like being the protagonist in a Kafka novel. I could detail all the ways in which the transition has been a failure so far, but that would take time and energy that my PNC interactions have largely sucked out of me. Thank goodness for exceptional staff like Brenna at the Twin Peaks branch and bank manager Mary B. at the North Main Street branch. I hope PNC management is wise enough to recognize and reward these two exceptional employees.

I have started the process of divorcing myself from USAA (due to sheer ineptitude after the theft…read moreof my wallet) and opened accounts with Chase Bank today. I was very leery of the terrible google reviews for all Chase Bank branch locations within Colorado Springs. I did not want to get more hassles from this bank, after what I just went through with USAA. On a whim, I looked at the Castle Rock locations. There were 2 of them. The older location had the terrible reviews like the C Springs locations, but the newer location by the outlet malls had 1 review that was 5 out of 5 stars. Three people were mentioned by name in the review as being very helpful (Todd, Johnny, and Connie). Hmm, I decided I could drive up there and open the accounts. I called last Thursday to schedule an appointment, hoping to meet on Sat morning since I work during the week. The three people were not working on Sat. So, I decided to wait until Mon morning and take some time off work to do this. My meeting with Todd was set up for 9 am. I received a call back from Todd later that day, and he suggested that we meet at the Chase location on Baptist in Monument, so that I didn't have to drive to Castle Rock. Todd also lives in Monument. Todd talked to his manager Connie, and she approved the plan. Today was the appointment. Todd greeted me at the door, and we went into the bank. Todd talked briefly with the manager, who told him to use his desk. Todd went through the checklist of opening the accounts, and in the end everything was set up perfectly. A++ customer service !!! Thanks, Todd !! On a side note, the manager of the Baptist branch never came over to check on us, or to introduce himself to me. I believe they were short-staffed today, but I figured he/she could come over and say hi for just a minute. SO, if you are thinking about switching banks to have the instant text alerts for all your credit/debit cards, call the new Castle Rock branch and set up an appointment with Todd, Johnny, or Connie. These are the 3 individuals who had the great review before my dealings, and if Johnny and Connie are even half as customer-oriented as Todd was, they have probably the best Chase branch in the state.

The local branch has been extremely helpful in escalating the issue. We use the branch at Broadway and Mineral. If you use Chase I recommend going to this location.

I'm in a line of about 20 people- appears to be 2 tellers with managers looking over their shoulders. It seems that they are training on us. No deposit slips were sent out. Well thank you very much! Good morning to you as well! Next, I waited a moment for a teller. One was with another customer and one was busy with something else. That's when Abbey, the teller manager came from off the floor to ask if she could help me with a smile on her face. I enjoyed our verbal exchange as she gave me back the smaller denominations. Ethan, again, opened up the doors as I left and said goodbye. As I was walking to my car speaking to my wife on the phone she told me I made a minor mistake on my denominational amounts. I got to have the doors opened up for me again and the enjoyable pleasantries another time with both Ethan and Abbey. I left a second time thinking that these two wonderful individuals deserved some recognition. Thanks to both of you for getting my day off to the right kind of start!
