No warning nothing just asked to leave at 11pm. What place throws someone out at that time! This is a terrible place! I plan to report this facility! I used to volunteer at this NHIFP for almost a year back in 2017-and 2018. Due to certain…read morecircumstances, I didn't want to be part of their volunteer program. They moved few doors down. That is not the reason why. Living literally 5 minutes away from this food bank, (walking distance), I still wanted to be some sort of help to them and help the homeless community and feed the hungry people that are practically everywhere. They have couple of entrances adjacent to eachother and are affiliated with the church next door. With that being said, I packed up a bag of goodies and walked over there at 8:15AM on 7/27/26. They are only open on Mondays and Fridays. (Please update your hours on Yelp so you don't confuse people). Some volunteer workers really go out of their way to help people, and a few others will give you a blank, confused, and lost stare that makes you feel very small, like Daniel the other day. On the bright side, Barbra and the director of this food bank named Sloan were helpful, kind, positive, softspoken and knowledgeable. Anyway, packed my bag with: 2 boxes of Rice-a-Roni Pasta, 2 cans of Progresso Chicken Noodle soup, 1 box of family size Kellogs Berry cereal, variety of Oatmeals, 4 Toto Cookies. Some other types of canned food, 2 boxes of Macaroni & Cheese, 1 bag of Plain Bagels, (count of 6), one big box of Macadamia Nut cookies, and a single, small, lonely chips. This is NOT my first time donating food to them. I have seen a few perishable and non-perishable items/products with expired dates on them. That is UNACCEPTABLE!! They wouldn't eat it, so why give it to someone else?? This pantry is only donations for food/beverages. Nothing else. They also get food from our local supermarkets such as Ralphs, Vons, Trader Joe's, and Sprouts. Before they open, there is a long line outside to pick up a bag or two. Overall, it's not a bad place, but few volunteers need to go that extra mile, put a genuine/sincere smile on their faces and pretend not to be SO pretentious.. The value of the food is what you make it to be!

I've been here from groceries before and I saw online that they offered rental assistance (I lost my job and still don't know how I'm gonna pay this month rent) So gathered all the documents that they listed were required, I printed out the form on the website, filled in out and gave it to my landlord to complete, got my bank statements and all my other documentation together. (the website just states to drop the documents off in person or mail them) So I called to see if I could come in to drop everything off and that's when I was told, I had to have been receiving other services from them for at least the last 6 months to qualify for rental assistance and also they were not accepting applications until September. SO WHY WAS NONE OF THAT ON THE WEBSITE? Why are there detailed instructions about how to apply and instruction to mail the application without the rest of the information? I EMBARRASSED myself by taking the form to my landlord and having him sigh it all to be told it was for nothing? It's ridiculous and actual insanity that they they don't give ALL the information online. It definitely makes me think they say one thing to get funding... and then tell the community something else. SHADY beyond belief.

I had never heard of this place before but it's truly an amazing place! The name is very fitting for the amazing work that is done here. Their store was filled with brand new items (many popular brands) fitting every style and size. They also include necessities such as backpacks, shoes, toilet paper, etc and the rule is YOU CAN TAKE AS MUCH AS YOU NEED! Usually there's a limit but not here, they provide you with trash bags and you can take as much as needed. They also have an area for groceries, toys, hot food, and so much more! It was truly amazing working here and seeing so many families being helped. There were so many volunteers and so much resources being passed out, I've never see anything like it. I recommend this place for anyone who is having a tough time, facing homelessness, job loss, etc to seek this place out. They also help with finding housing and schooling. Such a valuable place to the city of Los Angeles!

They don't give you an 8 hour window where you are required to attend - the food collected goes to local food organizations to feed the homeless throughout LA - it's a great excuse to get outdoors & get some exercise! Motivation I love the entire concept of this organization. It is challenging for the impoverished to get access to fresh fruit and produce. A low income man in the Midwest a few months ago went to the hospital and was diagnosed with Scurvy! Yes, like the pirates illness. Why? He was only eating cheap, frozen meals 3x a day for the past 18 mos., no fruit or produce, and was severely vitamin C deficient! MDs diagnosis, not mine. Access to healthy fruits and veggies is critical to health but can be challenging given the expense. In comes hero organization Food Forward! They pair up with local home owners who have excess fruit or veggies. They have volunteers come out to "pick" their excess fruit. The fruit is then taken to local food banks in the area and distributed outward. How cool is that? I spent 1.5 hrs with them picking grapefruit in Woodland Hills. It was such a fun way to volunteer my time but manageable enough to fit into my schedule. I loved it and look forward to volunteer with this terrific organization again in the future. I got to work with them at their annual summer harvest at CSUN in Northridge, in two hours we gathered 5000 pounds of oranges to benefit MEND poverty in Pacoima, Family rescue center in Canoga Park, and Seeds of Hope in Los Angeles through the Episcopal Church.
