They had vendors, arts and crafts, music and, sandcastle lessons, and a drum circle I participated in poetry writing and painting a Roseate Spoonbill bird in water color. I stepped out of my comfort level and skill set today!! Local published poets, Naomi Shahib Nye and Jim Boone ran the group for poetry writing; Naomi read one of my poems to the crowd; they applauded and she told me to take a bow!! WOW! I was shocked I have a video of Naomi reading my poem to the crowd but video is too big to post on this forum ... also have a video of my friend playing in the drum circle Fun day!

We went in and got some amazing pictures. Then a rude person who called himself the Executive Assistant of the Director came out and basically accused us of trespassing. He treated us as if we were interlopers and made it clear that no one can come in unless they are part of an institution and we were not welcome there. We would never have come in if we weren't invited. We're an older couple and didn't deserve to be treated so rudely. We've passed the building a lot of times and now will think of this rude individual and look away in the future.

If you want your baby buried in the garden of the innocent you only can have a flat headstone. That…read morebeing said if they mow they pick up all the flowers off the baby's Graves and throw them behind the office. This area is not huge. They can take a few minutes out of their day when they mow over the grave over the headstones and put the flowers back on the baby's Graves. You go out there now and the grass is entirely dead where the babies are buried. It's called The garden of Innocence. They don't even water the grass. I paid a lot of money for my daughter's hand-painted ceramic picture for her headstone. Very early on when she died the lawn mower went over and put a huge deep scratch through the middle and they don't care. They're like too bad too sad what do you want from us? I would like you to perhaps water the grass at least and put the babies flowers back on their graves!!! Have some dignity & some compassion for these parents. I have 2 daughters buried in the garden of Innocence. The area is very small so please don't make a reply and say the area is just so huge there's no way it would take hours to put the flowers back because that's b*******.. I know it's asking for too much to them think about the people there as opposed to just making the money.

Sometimes, I think I ought to sell my plot( not easy to do as by law the cemetery can't buy it…read moreback) and buy a plot in Mt. Olivet Catholic cemetery. I stopped by as I usually do around Christmas to pay respects to most of my family buried here. I was presently surprised to find two wreaths on my veteran uncle's headstones. Probably, the VFW did this, but thanks to Galveston Memorial for allowing this to happen, and having/ keeping a well manicured park. I'm gonna hold off on selling the plot, and relocating.

The facility is very clean and run more like a very upscale vet clinic then a shelter. The workers are very friendly. There's so many beautiful creatures that want to give love and be loved if we just take the time to go and visit with them until we find our new friend. Don't spend money on designer animals when these perfect and beautiful souls are there by no fault of their own waiting to be rescued. You'll want to take them all home that the hardest part. Conveniently located at Church and 22nd streets in downtown Galveston, I don't know of a better…read morestorage situation on the island. All storage units are "high and dry" on the 2nd floor or higher so you don't have to worry about hurricane flood waters. This sturdy old building has withstood many a hurricane and storm. Security here is excellent. You get a keypad code that allows you access anytime between 8 am and 8 pm, 7 days. You can't enter without your unique key code, and there are security cameras monitoring the entrances to the building. You can either park in the alley and load through a large roll-up door, or you can punch your key code into the entrance gate and park in a secure, fenced area for a more secure situation. This fenced area also has a small covered portico that allows you to back under and stay dry if it is raining. The building is fully sprinklered for fire protection, and has central heat and air conditioning, a must here in south Texas. The only drawback is there is only one elevator. That has never been a problem for me because I've never had to wait on the elevator, but if it ever breaks down that would make things very challenging.
