I didn't have my prescription on hand for the consult so the same day after I was home from my job I emailed her back with a copy of my prescription. I didn't hear back for 5 days so on Dec 18, 2023 I emailed again to touch base to make sure my email was received as I was waiting for a more concrete price for my procedure. Leanne didn't email me back until Dec 27, 2023. The price range that was given to me were very large (from $400/per eye to $2140/per eye). I didn't want to apply for financing if I didn't have to, but i genuinely had no idea what my surgery was going to cost me. So I emailed again on Jan 24, 2024 to go over the prices again as I was a little confused. It's been 8 days and no response and overall I'm very disappointed in the customer service and lack of information. I called the Lasik MD line in Calgary, AB, and cancelled my appointment . I do not feel comfortable giving money to a place that is not able to answer my questions and return my emails. Additionally, the person (Ali) I spoke with from Patient Care Centre said they were unable to provide me with an email confirmation of my appointment cancellation. Not having a paper trail of correspondence also doesn't make me feel very comfortable, in the event I am accused of missing my surgery and/or have to pay a penalty. I will be looking elsewhere for laser eye surgery, if you like being kept on "read" then Lasik MD is for you.

Fast forward to my next appointment I had a hard time getting off of work, I arrived 20 minutes early only to wait over 2 hours before walking out. Didn't even see the eye doctor. Reported this location to my main GP. If your doctor schedules you an ophthalmologist appointment here; ask to be moved elsewhere to another ophthalmologist. Unprofessional and completely disrespectful of everyone's time & health concerns. Reception didn't even apologize or care. Told me that the doctor stays 'an extra hour to two to see all the patients' as when I left 2.5 HOURS after my allotted appointment time, the waiting room was completely FULL.

I had lens replacement surgery to correct for distance that in my mind and according to a second opinion from an unbiased outside optometrist, was not as successful as should be expected. One eye is 100% near sighted, but the other eye is slightly far sighted. After 9 months, the surgeon was still evasive and did not agree with my concerns about the results and the Gimbel Operations Manager was rude and unresponsive to my emails.

This place is like a well oiled machine. They do on average approximately 16 of these procedures a…read moreday. I had the Lasik surgery with cross linking. They start off giving you a mild oral sedative that's supposed to calm any nerves. A nurse will come and get you, and take you to the surgery room. Introduction's are made, doctor and assistants. Then the procedure begins. The only discomfort I felt was the pressure on my eyeballs. They freeze your eyes, so you feel slight sensations from where the push around your eyes. The lasering only takes 1 min or so, and you smell what people have described as a burnt hair aroma. That's exactly what it smells like. More time is spent in preparation of the eyes then the surgery itself. Oh one more thing. They have a really comfy waiting area with recliners. They also let family members watch the procedure if you so desire. Still to early to say what the outcome will be. I just had the surgery yesterday. So far so good. Just a little blurry/ foggy from the post op eye drops.

I think that is a place where we are…read morestrapped for family physicians and many doctors have horrible bedside manners, we are lucky to have doctors such as Dr. Mentz. Wait times can be horrible, but I think that is true of any medical appointment. Dr. Mentz also often makes snap judgments, but she hasn't lead me wrong yet. I've never had to wait for more than a week to see her, and she is very amicable and listens to your concerns. She never makes me feel dumb for asking questions, and will explain a little bit of the background behind your ailment (eg: Knee pain can be caused by...). She will take as much time with you as you need. While I think Dr. Mentz is a wonderful doctor, I haven't have any experience with her partners and cannot comment on them.
