When I worked in pharmaceuticals we'd have vendors sending off treats from Harry and David and See's, so much to the point that when people wanted to know which chocolate to pick, they'd tell me what they wanted and I could point out by sight which it was. Sees is the only box of candy I like. I keep a list of which ones I want so that I can rattle them off to the lady at the shop (Kona mocha, milk chocolate coconut, butterscotch square, milk bordeaux, scotchmallow, skotch kiss, etc). I typically love going to See's Candies because it is just phenomenal. This time around, as I was purchasing chocolate the worker seemed annoyed that I was asking for samples. I asked to try a chocolate I have not tried before and she gave me a weird look, like I was a free loader. I shrugged it off and asked for a second sample and she said we typically don't do that. There was not a long line and only a few folks in the store. I felt like a burden and was completely put off. My previous experiences have not been like that. Each time I buy 25$+ worth of chocolates and am not abusing the free samples. For 25$ of chocolate, I would like to know that what I am getting is something I would enjoy. read more

I have become quite a snob with gourmet chocolates. Places and brands I once coveted would get replaced by new introductions to chocolates which in turn would shift my focus in that direction. With that said when walking in the Tacoma Mall which can be often I pass by See's quite a bit. I often feel an urge to go in and get some chocolates to take home. And I've done it before but seem to regulate myself pretty well from too many indulgent stops. But during certain times of the year when they have seasonal candies I pop in and get a small bag or box to take home. I wouldn't ever say I had a coveted period of time with See's but I never had a bad experience with them bringing little sweet treats home. The candies involving vanilla, almond or a really good chocolate covered cherry are nice on occasion. I prefer frequenting small businesses that make product like this (as well as many other things) but when I am in a bit of a rush, feel like options may be limited with the itinerary for the day and some chocolates are in order then See's Chocolate (The Tacoma Mall location) fits the bill just fine. read more

Always make a stop here when I'm at the Tacoma Mall. Get my free piece of candy and pick up a few to go. People here are always nice and if the freebie isn't something I eat (orange cream for instance) I just say no thank you I don't care for that flavor and they pick another. I spent several hundred dollars on gift boxes for friends. I should have checked the contents first! See's has been a Christmas tradition with our family since I was a kid (and I'm old now). We always got the Nuts and Chews. I was amazed at the lack of variety this year...lots of chocolate covered nuts and chocolate covered caramel and several chocolate covered brittles. None of the nutty and fruity chews of the past! We didn't pay $25 a pound for chocolate covered almonds. Next time I'll go with Costco! read more

While this is a somewhat small space (and can get a bit chaotic when numerous groups are occupying the space at the same time), we have had good experiences with the staff and the chocolates. My husband and I both love the California Brittles, the Peanut Butter Cups, and the Dark Chocolate Truffles. While we usually pop in to grab a small bag each, we also love the option of ordering a box for family or friends for special occasions (they even gift wrap). I am not a big candy eater and that's a good thing because, between the people and the product, temptation would simply be too great. Received a ton of goodies from this store during the holidays and I couldn't see what the hype was about. Besides a few distinct flavors and classics such as the caramel, I wasn't a fan of the chocolates I received. Everything was a little gritty in texture. The caramels being double coated was nice and solid and added a nice contrast to the caramel inside which I thought was delicious and chewy. I think another treat worth getting from this store are their lollipops which are creamy and delicious. read more

The ladies here were very friendly to me but when a bunch of teenagers came in for their free sample of the women were very rude and ask them what they wanted and if they weren't going to buy anything they had to leave I felt that they were racially profiled because the women did not know if they were going to buy anything or not and if my child was with them I would've been very upset because you never know who has money or what their intentions are you should never assume this is definitely not a friendly place unless you're over 60 but the variety is great the candy is amazing it's always fresh but I'd have to say a one star on customer service for star on candy. So that brings it to a two star total I would definitely suggest going somewhere else read more

My favourite See's Chocolate store. I just can't get enough. Every Time I head to the states, I just have to pick some up. I usually go to Costco and pick up a gift card for 2lb chocolate for $28. To get more bang for your buck, pick and choose your 2lb chocolate. I usually get the prepackaged 2lb nuts and chew. I like everyone of it. One reason why I prefer See's over Canaidian chocolate is that it's less sweet. Mean more chocolate and less sugar. Second reason, it's cheaper than Canadian chocolate. read more

My family and I love See's Candies! They have amazing chocolates, my personal favorites are the scotchmallows (dark chocolate, caramel and marshmallow). We shop here anytime we're at the mall and I always give relatives a box of sees for holidays. I did see a few comments about the service at this location. I've gone to this location since I was a kid and yes, they do turn away non paying kids and teenagers. Honestly I would too! I am an adult now and can 100% understand why they would be frustrated at disrespectful kids coming in and expecting free chocolate. At the end of the day, this is a business and they need to make money. Giving away chocolates to non paying customers does not help their business. We went here and were very excited to use my friends gift certificates (yeah, people still give out certificates). The people working at this sees I have noticed have most often times seemed annoyed and very short. Even when saying who's next she gave the impression that she was living in a hell. A chocolate hell. While picking out candy she was not happy and although my friend was saying candy unknowingly fast, she shouldn't have been so aggravated and sassy. I'm not a big chocolate fan, but what I've had from See's is great. However, my 5 star experience with them didn't have a whole lot to do with their candy, it was the service. My brother was preparing for his 13th wedding anniversary and was planning a big night for him and his wife. One of the things he was doing was setting up a huge display of See's truffles in a checkerboard pattern with a 13 spelled out in the middle. He hired me to take on this task and the people at See's were able to get me a couple hundred truffles the same day. She was extremely helpful over the phone, had everything organized when I showed up, and there were no issues with having the right color or number of truffles. Great job See's! read more

My husband takes me to See's Candies for just about every occasion and buys me an array of great candies and chocolates. On this visit he bought me chocolate eggs, strawberry and orange lollipops, truffles. We spent about $70. The chocolate and candies are great, but the service was just despicable. They ignored us because we did not order anything from the case and then rang up another lady instead of us. Then they gave her coupons, a bag, ect. When I got to the counter, they didn't offer me coupons, a bag, didn't even say thank you. I would like to think it wasn't my race and demographic but then they did the same thing to the older white lady behind us. They were valued customers. We are not. I'm never going back. Godiva, frans chocolates. There are so many non racist places to shop for good chocolates. That's where I'll be. This was my worst experience with See's Candy. I love the store usually and always looked forward to visiting in multiple places. My wife and travel quite a bit and whenever we see her favorite candy store we like to sample there candy, but this particular store treated my wife like a second class citizen which was a major shock to us. Se was standing in line to make purchase and was completely overlooked by the lady at the behind the register whom called the lady behind her, which happens to be white. When my wife said that she was there first the cashier ignores her and Mr. Bill who heard her said that he will take care of my wife. I was very upset after my wife made her purchase and walked out of the store where I standing I could see that she was also. I told her that she should not have purchased, but she really likes See's. After we talked and I convinced her to return the purchase, she was accused of arguing with them. I dont think that See's is a bad company, but this store or employees needs to be looked into. As veterans we have both experienced different types of discrimination, but it usually came from adversarial forces, not from our own. read more
