I was shopping at home goods and parked near Wanna Cupcake. I was going to head to Starbucks until I saw on their sign that they had espresso too so I decided to walk in. I got a ginger molasses cookie and a white chocolate americano. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was! I LOVED the flavor of their espresso and the cookie had the best flavor and texture. I know it's just coffee and a cookie but I've had coffee from bakeries before that was worse than what you get from a Keurig lol so to actually get a coffee that was enjoyable was a shocker to me. Cupcakes were good, got birthday cake and salted caramel. And a white mocha coffee which was also good. Service was mediocre, maybe because it was morning they were still waking up? Ladies were Not too friendly. Customer service is the bread and butter in these type of small businesses, it can either make you or break you. Magnificent. First time here I'm so glad to have received my birthday present $5.00 off my purchase wow I choose the lavender cake so good. Then I ordered an Americano with lavender no cream. This was an absolute pleasure. Customer service is amazing. Enjoyed the two people who work here. Excellent customer service was very helpful not only to me but to each person who was inside and who came in after me. Love the ambiance and GF choices. See all the cool photos. This is a mid-sized shop that sells cupcakes and other desserts. I had no intention of getting a cupcake, but I saw "wanna cupcake?" on a sign not too far from their shop and I was sold! You can buy single cupcakes or multiple! They have traditional flavors and more elaborate ones. I think they serve drinks as well (coffee, tea), but I was too focused on the desserts to note them. (Cost): $4.85 + tip (Location): It is in a very busy shopping area near Trader Joe's and Safeway. There is plenty of parking, but the area gets extremely packed, I prefer to park a bit away and then walk there. The area is very nice-- I would describe it has middle class to upper middle class. The shop was clean and very well presented. (Service): The employees were incredibly friendly and the employee who helped me let me know about their rewards program that uses your phone number. You get points each tike you visit, which will eventually add up into several rewards. (Food): Vanilla Cupcake (5/5)-- I chose the most basic cupcake ever, but I had already purchased sweets elsewhere and didn't want to overdo it. Even so, this cupcake was absolutely divine! The cake texture was soft and the icing was smooth. The icing was quite sweet, so I did take a little off, but I definitely would've eaten it all if I weren't trying to limit my intake. read more

My wife and I were in the area and were craving cupcakes. We had looked for cupcakes before in the Tacoma/Puyallup area and we're not sure how this place never came up but we are so excited we came across Wanna Cupcake! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by very friendly employees, the place looks very clean and very organised and the way the cupcakes are lined up is aesthetically pleasing. Every cupcake looks delicious and we just couldn't decide which ones to try. We ultimately landed on trying lemon blueberry, a classic old-fashioned chocolate cupcake, banana cream pie, and Red Velvet. ALL of them are absolutely delicious and I can't even decide which one is my favourite because they all are. We did a "Too Good to Go" order... IYKYK. You don't pick what you get, but major kudos to the businesses like this one who don't want to waste things. We really liked the Strawberry Cupcake and the German Chocolate Cupcake. Other flavors we had that weren't bad was a pumpkin cupcake, a chocolate cupcake, a vanilla cupcake and a Raspberry Cupcake. So far my favorites from this variety pack are the German Chocolate, Almond Raspberry, Salted Caramel, and Samoa. The cupcake is light and fluffy, paired perfectly with the flavorful and sweet frosting. I am usually not a fan of the average frosting, but these cupcakes are just the right amount of sweet and are so flavorful the frosting is complimentary to the cupcake. I have come here several times and tried many of their cupcakes, as well as a few of the cookies. I am usually greeted pretty quickly unless the girls are in the back. It's a cute little shop in a shopping plaza near Safeway and Trader Joes with a super busy parking lot. While the cupcakes are attractive, and come in MANY different flavors that rotate by the day of the week every month. I don't think I could possibly ever try them all. I think the best one I have tried so far is the Lemon Earl Gray. I am by no means even really a fan of cupcakes being that they have entirely too much frosting for me to even appreciate the full creativity of a flavor. I wouldn't go as far as saying that they all taste great, but they are better than some others that I have had from other places. I have tried the Snickerdoodle, Ginger Cookies, and another one I can't remember the name of. They were tasty, but the Molasses one was a bit dry (maybe not made that day?). The prices are a little steep, so probably more for special occasions. They do have a loyalty program, but not sure I can buy enough to really reap much benefit. read more

The pink champagne cupcake was my favorite out of all of the cupcakes I ordered. The cookie was a good size for the $3.50, but the flavor was mild. it was more creamy than sweet and honestly, I tend to like peanuts or chocolate chips in my peanut butter cookie and this one had neither. The cookie was ok, the price was ok and that yielded an overall rating of ok. I've had much better cookies, and will just leave it there. Every interaction I've had with this bakery has been excellent. Most recently we ordered my kiddo's birthday cake from here, and I am totally blown away! Not only was the cake beautiful, it was delicious and enormous. You might not think a vanilla cake with vanilla filling could be decadent, but this one was. The filling was somewhere between custard and pudding, but just the right amount. The cake was the perfect texture. I said the cake was enormous, that is because I overestimated how many people would be attending the party. I don't mind having leftovers of a cake that is this high-quality though. I giving this one star and wish I could take away some just like they did with our loyalty points. We have been patrons since opening and we're just informed today without notice that 143 points were expired yesterday. Never before were we told there was any expiration. We were saving for a cake. Really makes it difficult to wanna come back. Since you let people know when you're having a 2 for 1 how about the courtesy of letting us know points were expiring especially since that is something new. Not a very sweet surprise or good way to show customer appreciation. I am revising my review to 5 stars as I just received a call from the owner Jim. I was very impressed by his quick reply and the return of our loyalty points. Jim is working to restore loyalty points for others that lost them erroneously. As you can see by his reply to my original message this was not the fault of Jim or the store. We will continue to patronize and champion our Wanna Cupcake location. Got a 6 pack of cupcakes this past weekend for a birthday and my family cut them up so we could try all of the flavors. They were all so good! We had coconut raspberry, lemon blackberry, s'mores, salted caramel, peanut butter fudge, and red velvet. My family makes a homemade red velvet cake and buttercream frosting recipe, so we're picky with how places do red velvet (a lot of places it tastes like chocolate), but I can tell you that they do it right here! The puyallup one is truly amazing - huge seating area, delicious coffee, and tasty cupcakes. All to say that location set a high standard. The UP location is okay. The cupcakes are not as good, there's no seating, and no bathroom. It's hard to believe this is the second location of such a beloved establishment.
