Definitely one of the better and very tasteful Japanese restaurants in town, unbelievable chicken teriyaki they serve it while its still and i found my new favourite beer at this location, would highly recommend visiting.

Staff was prompt and courteous, food was awesome. No waits, delicious food what more can I say.

Takeout! California roll, dynamite roll, cucumber maki and tobiko nigiri! :)

The food here is very good. Nice presentation and quick service. One thing is that some of their rolls are a little loose sometimes, but they always taste good! They have a wide selection and seasonal sashimi as well! Very good, I come her quite often :)

    Chirashi sushi.

Some of the worst sushi I've ever eaten. The takoyaki were also rubbery and disgusting. Avoid this place.

This is our favourite sushi place in town. Good food, good service, fair prices and run by nice people.

The nice mature Asian lady greeted and seated me. She was helpful when I inquired about the menu. I ordered: - Hotate (Scallop) nigiri sushi - Tobiko (Flying fish roe) nigiri sushi - BBQ Duck Bento Box (served with miso, rice, veggies, prawn and veggies tempura and Edamame) They served the miso soup first. It was part of the bento box. This miso soup had a generous amount of seaweed but no tofu. I was a bit surprised. On the menu, you can order miso soup on its own or miso soup with tofu. The flavour was perfectly balanced, and I appreciated the seaweed. The ingredients of the sushi were very fresh. I loved the texture and sweetness of the big piece of scallop on the nigiri sushi. The tobiko was equally fresh. The sushi rice was also good. They give a good amount of sliced ginger and wasabi on the side. The BBQ duck bento box was a fusion influenced by Chinese cuisine apparently. I have had the usual beef and chicken elsewhere. I thought I would give the creativity a try. It didn't disappoint me. The flavour of the duck was great. I didn't expect it to be too tender as it's the Chinese BBQ duck, yet it could be a little juicier. The rice in the bento box was cooked perfectly which went well with the duck. There were 4 decent pieces of tempura: 2 prawns, 1 zucchini and 1 yam. The tempura batter was nice, not greasy at all. The one interesting thing was that they don't have tempura sauce. When I asked for it, I was provided the same vinaigrette sauce already given with the bento box. This was the only drawback; otherwise, the meal would've been a 5-star. They are located near residential area and have easy and free street parking.

So Fabulous! Totally authentic sushi experience at this sweet little gem. So many menu items to…read morechoose from, all made fresh up front where anyone can watch. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Quick service. Best sushi I've had on Vancouver Island and 20-30% less than other places. No wonder it's always busy. And a lovely patio (in season) as a bonus!

I didn't care too much for the broth (definitely a lot of umani flavor for the dashi) as it wasn't a type of broth i was use to. It wasn't bad but just not my style. The noodles were good. The bamboo shoot was different too but tasted a bit sweet? The pork belly was too thin in my opinion. I'm use to a more fatty pork belly. Soy sauce marinated egg is extra but we gave it a try. You can get "free" extra ramen if you do a review for them. Just scan QR code on the table. You order at the kiosk and pick up your own bowl of ramen. No tip asked.

Inspired by the shops of Vancouver, LA, and Tokyo, and driven by their love of noodles, Greg and Erin Masuda served the first bowl of authentic, scratch-made ramen that Vancouver Island had ever seen. Six years and 40 flavours later, Nikkei Ramen-ya still bustles; if you can't make it to our shop in Downtown Courtenay, you can now find our ramen at your local Vancouver Island grocer. From silky Tonkotsu to vegan-friendly options and crisp karaage chicken, we've got something for every craving. Gluten-free options are available Our review- We met a friend for dinner, we went early at about 4.30pm, it wasn't crowded yet. Ordered our ramen on an electronic kiosk menu board... By the electronic menu board, there are table # stand. Chose a number & put the number that you chose onto your order as identification. Then place the number stand on your table. The noodles were very good, nice soup broth... we enjoyed the noodles very much, we also added a side dish of green beans, dressing on the beans was like the Japanese spinach (Gomae). Beans was crunchy & with that dressing, it was yummy. Overall a very good experience, do check it out if you are in downtown Courtney. You will not be disappointed ! Place was clean with decent seats Come after lunch or before dinner, the place was crowded during dinner time.
