The lawyer also tried to persuade me to litigation for something that was easily mediated to finding resolution. I ended up doing the mediation on my own. Only benefit was the legal documentation that encouraged my tenant to work through mediation, which any other lawyers could have done. I tried to the end the relationship cordial, but got really angry when I realized that they did not sending a bill that showed the retainer was used to settle this bill. Per contract, the retainer was to be kept in reserved until the end of the contract. Hence, I realized that I was charged even more than I had originally thought to instruct this lawyer to do this job. I don't mind paying for the service if I felt it was warranted. I also would not have mind paying for the service if I felt the lawyer was looking out for my best interest. But this was not the experience. I got more stressed after speaking to this lawyer.
