Went to Dr Boyette with a torn rotator and bicep. It was discussed that she didn't want to fix my…read morebicep because I was over 35!! I wasn't happy with her reasoning prior to surgery she agreed to fix it but did not. After surgery I could tell my shoulder wasn't right. She told me it was arthritis and she could not help me even though it was popping and causing me extreme pain. A second opinion at Duke immediately found that the should was completely torn and would a complete re due. The Dr. At Duke fixed the shoulder and bicep. Stay away from Boyette period!!

The receptionist answered all my questions thoroughly, and I got an appointment in a timely manner. Forms were emailed to me prior to my appointment, which made check-in time quicker. Allyson Dougherty, certified mastectomy fitter, was professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. I left my appointment with a bra and prosthesis that fit and were comfortable to wear. I highly recommend Avila to anyone who is looking for an expert mastectomy fitting in a positive environment!

A typical first PT evaluation, which went awry upon check out. After I saw the PT and began to…read morecheck out, I was then informed that Avila is considered "out of network" with my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. Why didn't they tell me this prior to being seen. Especially when I told them I had BCBS when I made the appointment. After being told they were "out of network" I was then given a fee schedule type form, giving me two options: 1. I could pay them $190 for them to file with my insurance (which may or may not be covered) and then my BCBS might reimburse me, or 2. I could pay them $150 as an out of pocket patient. As you can imagine, I was taken aback by the fact that they waited until AFTER I was seen, to tell me they were "out of network" and then demand that I pay one of their fees. The way in which they said I needed to pay seemed very shady and I felt like I had just been duped. They then tried to tell me that they had provided me with a disclaimer before my appointment, but they in fact did not. This disclaimer that they then showed me is not on their website either. I downloaded the all of the patient forms and there is no such disclaimer. Call me a skeptic, but they wait until the patient is done with therapy and in a good amount of pain to spring this on them? This not only makes one feel mislead, but deliberately taken advantage of. Do not go to Avila Physical Therapy!!! I will be writing them a letter of demand, for $120 of the $150 I paid them. They should get my co-pay of $30, but that's all they should get.
