As a man in long-term recovery (38 years) and the owner of a treatment provider company, I have…read moreworked with Maryland Addiction Recovery Center (MARC) since it opened a little over nine years ago. Over these past nine years, MARC has set the standard for quality care in the space they work in. They are second to none. From both a clinical and management perspective they are conscientious about every phase of their robust service offerings provided by educated, licensed, and, most importantly, empathetic professionals. Having worked in the treatment field for almost 40 years and having two daughters that have been in treatment, I know firsthand the fear and anxiety of having a loved one suffering from substance use disorder. There is a feeling of powerlessness, and when most of us have that experience, we try to find something that gives a sense of power or a modicum of some control, like writing a poor review about the treatment provider.

Review of Dr. forrester-…read more DO NOT see this doctor. I sought his help during the darkest part of my life. I shared my most intimate and vulnerable experiences with him and I never received one word of acknowledgement that I even spoke let alone bared all. He instead responded with lectures on how medicine is absorbed by the body and other dry and unrelated information. He shows no empathy and he talked down to me, especially when I showed signs of dysfunction. Reminder- this is a mental health professional. A doctor who works with fragile people who are struggling. He makes snap judgements rather than trying to understand. He will ignore your pain and cut you off at your worst time in life if you deviate from social norm. He will make you feel small, judged, insecure and inhuman. Stay away and find someone who actually cares. He is dan are unstable.

This rating reflects the office and administrative experience, not clinical care. My daughter…read morecompleted treatment and is sober. I paid $42,000 out of pocket after insurance denial. For over a year, I, her physician, and the insurance company have repeatedly requested documentation needed for a Gap Exception. Despite numerous calls and emails to the **only listed contact information, there has been no response, and requests for a leadership contact were refused. Families deserve better. I cannot recommend this facility.

Yes this place is beautiful, but that is about it. Buyer beware! Oh and they filed a law suit…read moreagainst me for $60,000 ( only there 17 days) Unaware to me, I was out of network. In no way would I have went to an out of network facility. Why they let me receive treatment is beyond me. We settled for a lesser amount, im LIVID!!!. Apparently, an addiction facility suing someone is repulsive to attorneys and other addiction facilities and against all moral standards. Shame on you Tranquility Woods!! Lastly, as previously stated, I left after 17 days. Hated it. They basically held me there for hours when I tried to transfer to another facility. I threatened to call 911 and began to walk off the property. They FINALLY gave me my phone after 2 hours, as I needed to arrange transportation. Oh, and I accidentally left expensive perfume, earrings, and a jacket there when I left. I went back to retrieve my belongings and they said that because it was after 2 weeks, THEY DISPOSE OF THEM!!. Lol! Why didn't they hold on to them and donate my items to someone there who needed a jacket, per se. Total jerks!

Honestly the only reason I come to this facility is because my PCP is here and I've been his…read morepatient since before I had need for specialists. He's amazing and would get five stars on his own. Unfortunately... the rest of the place leaves something to be desired. The front desk staff is overwhelmingly Christian, which is perhaps to be expected from a pseudo-Catholic hospital affiliate. I'm sure that's great for their mental health, if not their eternal souls, but it does leave one with the issues one generally has with loudly-Christian folk, including self-righteousness, ableism, and homophobia. They've recently taken down the "inspirational" (read: prejudiced) printouts wallpapering many cubicles so we'll see how that goes. I have not had much luck here with specialists: My wife, a friend, and I have been refused exams (by different doctors) because of being overweight. I was told "fat people have pain" as if I am too stupid to tell the difference between mild arthritis and a displaced kneecap. Whoopsie! My wife was accused of drug-seeking after a brutal car accident; I got the same from a different doctor because I worked at a pharmacy for years and used the word "drug" instead of "medication" to describe my super-exciting and TOTALLY recreational cholesterol and blood pressure meds. Despite a pair of vicious surgery scars, I was informed that the surgery I had didn't exist. After I paid out of pocket for copies of 24-year-old paper medical records from a non-affiliated hospital, the doctor acknowledged that I had had the surgery but I just didn't know the right name for it. She refused to tell me the "correct" name. I could go on, and I could name names, but the bottom line is that this is a PERVASIVE issue in the culture of the practice. Patients are treated more like enemy combatants than partners in healthcare. There is a saying or belief in Baltimore about doctors. You go to Hopkins if you're good enough You go to University of Maryland if you can stand the politics You go to Mercy if you can stand the religious culture You go to GBMC if you can't stand either You go to MedStar if no one else will hire you ...Overlea just so often fails to live up to Mercy's place on that list.
