I had an appointment with Tye Youmans and I chose him because of his ability to provide realism with abstract and vibrant color!!! Not only did Tye execute my vision beyond my imagination, it was a COVER UP! A lot of artists refuse to touch or cover someone else's work, but when I reached out to Tye about a different tattoo during the consultation we both agreed that his work next to my current tattoo would make it look even more ugly than it already was. I wasn't for what I found, but I'm so glad I started following Self Made Tattoo Colorado two years ago and Tye moved back 6 months ago. I'm glad I was finally able to sit in sit in his chair. I also was able to get squeezed in by the life of the party piercer Mike! I got the 3rd piercing to complete a triple lobe and an orbitalin my left ear. Mike was able to get me in and out within 7 minutes! I'm so glad I found a tattoo artist who not only delivered beyond expectations, but was extremely transparent and wanted the art to speak for itself. I have a lot of tattoos, but David provided an experience better than just about any I've ever had. David communicates clearly with clients making sure his design reflects exactly what you want. You can tell he has passion for his work and takes great pride in what he does. I was impressed with his efficiency and ability to create a comfortable atmosphere. He nailed the design I described and even got the stencil in place only on his second try. This was tough to do with a big tattoo avoiding the surrounding tattoos I already had. He shows concern for sanitation and aftercare, which I really appreciated. His rates were very agreeable too. The shop itself has a great vibe with lots of friendly employees. Very disappointed in my experience here. I have came here many times getting piercings from Mike and he is absolutely amazing. This weekend I came with my cousin to get a tattoo. I was told there were artists available to do my tattoo and not once was it was mentioned to me that Kelly was a tattoo apprentice all I wanted was a simple quote. Some of the lettering is thin some is thick it's very uneven and looks awful. I'm very disappointed with my experience and with the way my tattoo looks. I have posted the stencil outline and the tattooed version. I am now going to have to get this touched up and hope that someone will be able to fix the mistakes as this is going to be on me forever. I do not recommend! I feel like I should have been told about her being an apprentice. read more

This is probably my second negative review I've ever had to leave. I scheduled an all day session for today 2.5 weeks ago. I followed up last night confirming my appointment today. He sounded excited and ready to work. He let me know he'd send me the artwork he's been working on later that night after he finished tattooing and sure enough it never came. 730 this morning I get a text saying he has to reschedule due to back pain he'd been experiencing all week. I really felt disrespected on Memorial Day weekend when I could be spending time doing other activities that he cancelled on me for pain he'd been experiencing for a week the day of. At least if the artwork was done maybe I could've been passed to another artist? I won't be rescheduling here read more
