This review is for Father Angelo. It had been quite awhile since I last went to catholic mass. I…read morehad a very private matter that not in a million years did I think I would ever experience. It was a living nightmare. I contacted St. Mary's Father Angelo. He is such a wonderful, kind priest. He welcomed me & helped me in ways that I will be forever grateful . I am so grateful to the catholic church for helping me through one of my most difficult times of my life. It did not matter that I was away from the church for so long. I was still welcomed with open arms & prayers. Thank you Father Angelo for your prayers & guidance. I will always be grateful that we are blessed to have such a warm, wonderful priest as Father Angelo. Thanks be to God for all kind staff at St. Mary's.

If I could choose 3.5 stars, I think I would opt for that. (Is it also weird that a part of me is…read moreafraid that God will come down and strike me for not writing a 5 star review??) Pros: When we joined the church pre-pandemic, we loved Fr. Biju and Fr. Rick and honestly just the open-mindedness of the people that we spoke with here. It seemed like a place that we could truly belong. Homilies were actually thought-provoking. They have a carnival each year, which is awesome! Only have been to it once, but I still remember it. Can't wait to try it again except with kiddos in tow, this time around! The location of this church is ideal! Walking distance to downtown los gatos. You honestly can't beat it. Cons: Unfortunately, I've had a couple of conversations with a priest there currently, and the way it went really did give me pause. The priest mentioned things like "make sure your daughter is a good little girl and is quiet" (cringe) and "so you don't have any issues in your marriage right?" when asking about convalidation (apparently the guy has never been married...). I of course understand his intention, wholeheartedly, but left feeling small and frustrated. Michael Lomas was very kind and explained the baptism process to my husband and me. Agnes and Dwayne (agh, are those their names??) were very sweet as well. Pamela B. was supposed to do the baptism class, but was unable to do so because of a scheduling issue. Totally understandable since she had a sick kiddo at home (I get it --- I have a toddler who gets sick so frequently!) but then a scheduling mishap occurred only a week later. Life happens, totally, but it didn't make us feel like our time was valuable (the godparents were trying the zoom call for like 40 minutes). I think she said she had family in town? I'm sure she is nice enough, but haven't actually spoken too much to her! Re: Baptism, Michael did mention that we would be the only family who had signed up for a baptism, which was a big reassurance to us during covid/pandemic, but when we showed up, 5 other families were there! The more the merrier usually, but we specifically asked it to be on a date where not many signed up because of our risk aversion re: covid. We were caught off guard, since Michael had mentioned only a couple days prior that we were the only family. Perhaps a simple misunderstanding, but it was a shock to us (especially after deciding on a more sizeable donation since we were going to be the only family at the baptism). ...and now God is going to strike me down....wait for it, wait for it....

Eden Church is such a fantastic Community of Christ! If you give Eden a shot you will be thrilled…read moreto find such a loving, caring, family-oriented Community of Christians. What a different experience than the traditional Catholic Church I grew up going to my entire youth! Eden feels more like a family gathering than anything else... Just look at the fun bounce houses they put out for the children each and every Sunday! -They currently offer two convenient service times (9:30 am and 11:00 am on Sundays) -They have the best Christian Band I have ever heard and they are all very talented! -They give you absolutely no pressure to join, but instead they encourage you to engage within the Community -They offer Eden "Kids" (with 3 different age groups) during both services so the parents can focus on Christ for an hour a week -They offer wonderful groups for everyone! Including: Men's, Women's, Mom, Dad, Youth, High School, College, and Alpha Groups! -They are involved in the greater Community by partnering with other non-profits such as Foster-the-Bay, CityTeam, CAPSV, & The Fellowship Inc. -They host many large functions all throughout the year to encourage Community engagement and the Fellowship of Christ. Kids Camp is awesome! -They also host outside fun activities/trips such as: kayaking, hiking, surfing, pickle-balling, and much more! You will not be disappointed if you give this Church a try! What have you got to lose? Ben R.

Even then, I felt connected with the church. Eden also has various small groups you can be part of and meet up with throughout the week. It's been such a blessing to be part of this community!
