Just a heads-up--double-check what you're buying and make sure the price reflects what it actually is. I purchased what looked like an older framed print with a signature for $40. The seller even mentioned it could be a "Monet" and implied it might be worth something. I wasn't buying it to resell--I simply loved it for my living room. But when I got home and cleaned the glass, I realized it was just a photocopy, not even a lithograph. So he basically could have just charged me for the frame $5. Rip off. I enjoy collecting unique pieces for my home, so I'm not upset about decorating with it. My concern is that some items seem to be priced or represented as though they're more valuable than they actually are. I also overheard another couple in the garage looking at some car-cleaning supplies. They picked up a small sponge that was marked at $3, and they commented that it seemed way overpriced. Personally, I thought it was something that should have been around 50 cents. I noticed the same pattern with a lot of the smaller knickknacks--items that I would normally expect to see priced at four for $1 or around $1.50 were marked at $3 to $5 each. On a positive note, I did mention my concerns to the seller, and he was receptive. He said he was willing to discuss prices, negotiate, and make corrections where appropriate, which I appreciated. So if you stop by, don't be afraid to ask about the price--it sounds like there's some flexibility. read more

When I entered the sale I was informed everything was 25% off marked prices. As I looked around it was very unorganized and filthy and only a few things were priced. I spent about a half hour digging through dirty and unorganized boxes and bins. I grabbed a few dvds, a record, an open ream of paper, and some little toys and buttons. When I got to the register he mumbled the prices as he counted and said $35. I replied "How about $30". He replied "No, how about $35". I then asked what the price was for the album and paper. He replied $5 each. I said take them off and I'd buy the rest. He then stated he would have to redo my total and it would "probably be more". As he started to add them up again I said nevermind to it all. However, the girl I brought with me got a decent deal on her items. Next time I will just have her pay and get a discount. Edit: You can see from his reply what kind of service you get. I have now updated my rating to reflect further poor service. Paper was not new, album cover was chewed up by silver fish and I had no cds let alone "new cds". But thanks for the personal attacks in your response. read more

I visited an estate sale today hosted by Selling Your Estate and was genuinely surprised by the way I was treated. After finding several items I was interested in, I brought them to the checkout area and made a reasonable offer for the group. I had already researched the items beforehand, and based on what I found, the asking price appeared so far out of line with their actual market value that I honestly assumed there had been a pricing error. Rather than simply declining my offer, Claudio immediately became confrontational. He raised his voice and responded with, "Are you kidding me?!?!" He then launched into a loud rant about how much the washcloths and towels I had selected were supposedly worth. I remained completely polite, thanked him, and moved on. Unfortunately, that was apparently not enough. He continued loudly complaining about me to people around him, seemingly intent on creating a scene and publicly calling me out. As I walked back into the house, I could still hear him talking about me to others. When I returned to a bedroom to look through some clothing, I immediately noticed that someone had been positioned directly outside the closet area, apparently to monitor my boyfriend and me while we browsed. At that point, the atmosphere had become uncomfortable enough that we simply decided to leave. I have attended plenty of estate sales and have never felt compelled to write a review about one. People are certainly free to accept or decline an offer, and there is nothing wrong with telling a customer that their offer is too low. What is unacceptable is turning a routine negotiation into a public confrontation and making customers feel unwelcome or watched. The combination of the raised voice, public ranting, and what felt like subsequent monitoring of us was incredibly uncomfortable. For someone working in a customer-facing business, this was an especially disappointing level of professionalism. There are plenty of estate sales in the area, and based on my experience today, I would recommend taking your business elsewhere. If you are considering Selling Your Estate for your own estate sale, I would also think carefully about whether this is the type of customer experience you want associated with your event. I have never taken the time to review an estate sale before. This experience was egregious enough that I felt other customers and potential clients deserved to know about it. 1 star is too high for this company. I attended one of this company's estate sales and was disappointed by the way customers were treated. The person running the sale was frequently rude and, at times, raised his voice at shoppers. Estate sales can be stressful and busy, but basic courtesy and professionalism should still be expected. It honestly seemed as though customer service was not a priority. If interacting with people is something you do not enjoy, this may not be the right line of work. Most customers are there to browse, ask questions, and make purchases, and they deserve to be treated respectfully. The sale itself had some interesting items, but the overall experience was overshadowed by the owner's attitude and behavior. I hope future customers have a better experience than I did. read more

I would recommend this company highly to anyone who wants to do an estate sale. Claudio and his team are very professional and know exactly what they are doing. I could not have done better at pricing each item in the sale if I had taken a whole day to research each item. It took them only a couple of hours to go through the whole house, garage, 2 patios and shed. They excel at selling. After the sale is over, they have a thrift store come and take anything that you don't want. It was seamless and now I don't have to worry about moving items that I don't want or need. I kindly changed my mind on an item because I felt it was too high for my budget. In return they raised the prices of the remaining items and even looked one up on eBay after giving their original price to tell me why it was ok to raise the price moments after. I was then told it was my fault for not taking the first price given for the group of items. "That's what you get", I was told. I've been to hundreds of sales over the years and I have never experienced this level of rudeness and disrespect for a customer who was trying to stick to a budget. I didn't even ask for a reduction on the items I deemed too highly priced, out of respect- I just opted not to buy them. In return I was made to feel like their decision to raise the price on the remaining items to make up the amount they were going to lose was my fault. All you had to do was back out the amount that I decided not to purchase but no, greediness won over. I will never give you my business again. In responding to the owner's comments- the person you are speaking of was not me, as I was there with my husband. I think you should rethink your tactic of attacking everyone who leaves you a bad review instead of dealing with your workers and level of customer service. Reviews are meant to improve the overall level of your business. I did not attack you, I gave you the facts and as a business owner, you should take that information and adjust accordingly. You should be upset with the person who is driving away customers. If you notice there is another review on Yelp for the same day at the same estate sale so that tells me that it is your workers treating customers badly. Also, if you notice to anyone who is reading this, this person has a bad habit of attacking anybody who gives a bad review. I did not use that type of language or attack in leaving my review. You have an opportunity to better your business, but instead you seem to choose verbal attacks without merit. read more

Sigh. We shop estate sales nearly every weekend. Some are run beautifully. Not the one we visited today. This group, "Selling Your Estate" was very enthused to greet us with "everything is 75% off"... terrific! Would be even better if things were priced, and/or did not have multiple price stickers with significant differences. I asked about an item that had 3 different prices on it and the man at the cash out table grew very irritated and curt. He was Mister Sunshine a minute ago- what happened? He said he needed to look the item up. Great, I will check back in after I finish shopping inside. Inside? mountains of fabric and bedding strewn everywhere with people tripping. Found a zippered bag full of newer looking personal documents: bank statements, insurance info and other items that would contain personal identification. I brought it downstairs with some chairs and gave it to the man at checkout table. He looked at it and threw it in the dumpster. Lets hope it doesn't cause trouble for the family. I asked about the item he was going to look up. He had returned it to the sell pile and said he assumed I wouldn't want it. Estate sales can be hectic, price labels fall off things, or customers tamper with things. This item was in a box right near their cash out table. Hard to imagine anyone tampered with tags and/or added multiple prices. Either way, the man acted insulted and became emotional and angry. While upstairs, other people were remarking "75% off? off of what?" the man's sour attitude was also being discussed upstairs. We will avoid "Selling Your Estate" events in the future. Very poorly organized and far from a professional attitude. The man started screaming at me as if he has mental health struggles. He was name-calling and it felt like he likes to pick fights. We walked away and left the items behind- as did others. Who wants to deal with a grown man screaming and name calling, like a child? We have some elders who will be down-sizing soon. We will add "Selling Your Estate" to the list of estate liquidators to AVOID when making our decisions. There are far too many professional and well-run estate liquidators. "Selling Your Estate" definitely not one of them. They lack professionalism on all fronts. I wouldn't trust them to take the trash out- overlooked personal identification documents might end up compromised. read more

Very mean. I picked out a few items, including a Christmas ornament that was marked at $1. However, when I went to check out, the man changed his mind and said it was $5. Not sale, asked me if I want or not. There was also a kid book. I asked another man with hat earlier and he told me it was $1, but at checkout another man said it was $2. It's very funny, it's only $1, but this is not about money, it about honesty. I told him that the man said is $1, this was not my responsibility, check price tag, I was ask him friendly to confirm, but he got angry and threatened me by keep saying, "Take it or leave it." So I chose to leave. Very mean guy. As a businessman, this kind of behavior shows a lack of integrity. The lady is nice. But his guy has some attitude. I raised a legitimate concern because items that were clearly marked or verbally quoted at $1 were changed to higher prices when I'm at checkout. Pointing out inconsistent pricing is not negativity -- it is basic consumer fairness. I did not argue, threaten, or harass anyone. When I was told "take it or leave it," I chose to leave. Personal insults and accusations are unnecessary and unprofessional. I'm with my baby. when I walked out, the other customers commented: "mean guy." People witnessed it. Ask if true or not. I don't know where you heard it?Or you made up? But be honest. Is that really about $1? I wish you well. Your characterization of me as "pathetic" and a "pill" is unacceptable and constitutes a personal attack rather than any legitimate critique of my actions. Update/edit: not sure what "man" he was talking to that wouldn't get off, regardless nobody had asked my brother and I to leave the room, you don't just pee in front of strangers in another persons home. Doesn't matter if the man wanted to get off the phone or not, we didn't want, need or appreciate being in that position. Was not bothered at all that he was on the phone, more so that he exposed himself in front of two strangers and THEN made weird comments on the phone in an already uncomfortable situation. I went to an estate sale today in Camarillo that was being ran by this company. My brother and I were in one of the rooms browsing the clothing in a closet when a man working for the company (now that I have googled, I assume he is the owner?) walked into the bathroom that was part of the bedroom with his phone on speaker. He started peeing in the bathroom with the door open whilst my brother and I stood there just staring at each other in shock. The person on the other end then said "are you giving me a golden shower?" To which the man responded "yes, and it's warm do you feel it?" He knew we were in there as he walked right past us to go into the bathroom and walked right past us to leave the bathroom. Regardless, you don't come into someone else's house that you are operating business with and do that in front of strangers. Claudio at Selling Your Estate was a godsend. We needed to clear a home that was occupied by a family member who was a hoarder. Legally, the family member needed to be treated as a tenant, and we had to follow a specific process to dispose of the abandoned property before selling that house. This was a 5-bedroom house that was full, wall-to-wall, of anything and everything from furniture to commercial spools of elastic. We had to figure out what had any value, dispose of what was worthless, present items for sale in a way that would enable buyers to see what was there, advertise and hold a public auction, and then give away anything that was left. Claudio's team did ALL of that! Originally, I contacted 5 estate sale companies. Claudio was the only one who was willing to even come assess the job, never mind actually do it. Because he is an expert in this field, he also provided a level of protection, legally, had the tenant claimed that anything thrown away had value and also that the auction was held in a way to get as much as possible for the abandoned property. His team ended up filling three full-size roll-offs with worthless junk - a level of physical labor that I am eternally grateful I did not have to do myself. And after the auction, everything that he thought that might have had value but didn't sell was donated to a local charity. I was very happy to see that stuff go somewhere for another attempt to re-home it rather than have it just go straight to landfill. I also feel comfortable that he was really honest about what his team found when they went through the house. Before starting, he estimated that there might have been about $4,000 worth of stuff; in the end, he raised roughly $10,000 through the auction. I have been going to their sales for years. Unfortunately, I have seen a declining change in their attitude that makes going to these sales less pleasant (very hostile and rude). The last poster (SarahWgrace W.) was spot on about the latest sale in Thousand Oaks. You can tell a lot about a company by how they respond to feedback on Yelp. Almost every rebuttal by the owner (which I am sure this one will also receive) is toned defensive, hostile, rude, paranoid, and out of touch - and also lacks self awareness. There are plenty of other sales to go to in the Ventura county area. I find Antiquated Ladies and Estate Liquidation Services to be the the best run sales in the area; always a fun time and a pleasure to work with - the employees at both are reasonable, organized, and friendly. I wish Selling Your Estate well, but I will not be attending any more of Selling Your Estate's sales; it is just not a good experience for my taste. I get the fact that they see the client as the customer; but the buyers should also receive a level of customer service that the "clients" might expect to maximize their sales volume. For the record, this is not the only Estate Sale company I am no longer attending (see my Fishy Finds review). 1st UPDATE: Response To Selling Your Estate's Expected Reply: Nope. Not that lady and in fact not a lady. Your response is exactly what I expected; deflection of the issue via a diatribe. I am your average unassuming shopper who does not steal or act rudely, and I pay a fair asking price. You are clearly delusional and not self aware as evident by your weird reply to me and your other weird replies to Yelp feedback. Try accepting feedback and growing from it; you might gain more customers. Instead, you seem to paint all shoppers with the same brush. That is how you lose customers/shoppers that are quality and honest. I would suspect that your "clients" would expect more from you. I personally witnessed the owner, who identifies as "Claudio", verbally abuse two shoppers for simply asking questions or inquiring about reduced pricing opportunities. I would assume that is part of the basic job description of running an estate sale. Your local competitors are much better and are literate. I am sure your "clients" are figuring that out based on all the new and better run competition in your market. Then, he claims his secret network of informants at other estate sales know my identity and reports back to him on my purchasing habits.
