I only come here for their wonderful selection of plants and delightful nik-naks, but if you combine that with Sarah's Sisters Sustainable Cafe adjoining, and the furry chickens - then this excellently eclectic emporium is a must for all lovers of the earth! Much more than just a garden shop selling plants, this place is located in a delightful old building which has had many incarnations. The plants are in excellent, healthy condition a sign they are well cared for and a massive range on display. Other garden needs are catered for such as fountains, ponds, pots, garden wall decor, outdoor settings, lighting and the list goes on. There is a side section supplying a range of mulches, fertilisers, etc and it's a good spot as it won't stink up the shop. Prices are moderate to high but so appealing to want to have a splurge. It's open 7 days a week. You may want to go next door to Sarah's Sisters cafe for a coffee or light snack and find yourself looking into the garden shop you've just been, so sit back and contemplate your next purchase from a different perspective. read more

This really is a decent garden shop which has pretty much everything garden related. Everything looks like it's good quality and really healthy, which is always good when it comes to gardens! You don't want to buy something and feel like it's going to break or die within a week of having it. I was really surprised that the mulch section to the right of the store wasn't overwhelmingly smelly or gross. Everything seemed like it was in really good condition. The staff are also there to help you find something that is suited to your needs/style/whatever. That's what they do. So don't be afraid to ask. read more

I'm really far from being a green thumb. I once killed a 20 year old bonsai and have been to scared to attempt anything serious since. But, I did come into Semaphore Garden Shop recently to get an Xmas pressie for someone who *is* of the green fingered variety of human, and I was seriously impressed. I hit the pressie jackpot! Potted plants with bows on them! Ready-to-go window boxes! Potted poinsettia! Doormats! Gardening forks! ( I don't know if that's what they're called... you know, those pointy things you dig with...). Yup, as well as all the usual gardening stuff, this place has a really good selection of garden and outdoor gift ware. I walked away with a some potted herbs with a sweet little bow on them which the recipient loved (or did a really good job faking it.) The staff were really helpful as well, pointing me towards gifts within my price range. Plus it just has a lovely vibe, with a great old, big building filled up with lovely healthy plants (unlike my own garden). read more

Pets, plants, presents last minute and so much more. Working so close makes this place a go-to for my dogs every need with a vast array of products and a great range of toys. The terrariums are some of the best I've seen in Adelaide outside of boutique markets I frequent and the staff have a fantastic knowledge of what they carry. I am disgusted with this place last Sunday we spoke to the female owner as we have been waiting to purchase a mini groodle puppy . They were getting 4 in and we were 7 th on the waiting list we asked about the price and she said around $1800 so with that we left and awaited the much anticipated phone call . Well we got that phone call to say we were Lucky and all puppies were available for $2,500 that's just robbery because you thought people were desperate for them so you thought you would cash in before Xmas you need reporting for your ethics in business . read more
