They was very friendly, helpful, and they worked hard to make sure we got our hogs. The gator hunt was hot, but we seen lots of gators and tagged out on very nice ones. It was built at a cost of over $83 million and is one of six STAs mandated by the State of Florida's Everglades Forever Act with the goal of reducing the amount of phosphorus that reaches the Everglades ecosystem. This area was designed to filter out the phosphorus that enters the water from the surrounding farm land. The pond plants remove pollutants from the water leaving it clean by absorbing the phosphorous as they grow and then they deposit the nutrients into the soil. Left untreated stormwater leads to algal blooms, muck deposits, fish kills, and other environmental problems. This stormwater treatment area protects the water in the northern Everglades and Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge. The water here attracts a lot of native Florida wildlife making it a great place place to hike, bicycle, and birdwatch. This is also a public small game hunting area. Hunters are required to have appropriate licenses, permits and stamps. As for me. the only thing I want to shoot animals with is my camera.
