Caveat- I'm not a bridal shopper, I was just in the bridal party. Still, be careful of this shop, as the woman helping us/ the bride was extremely overbearing. The location is convenient and the shop has a well-organized designer-by-designer layout of dresses in plastic protective bags. The staff is well organized to help out whomever needs help. They have separate areas where two parties can comfortably have people helping out brides to pick dresses. You can bring champagne, they'll have plastic glassware for you. The dresses are cool in that they have a picture (attached to the front in a plastic pocket) of what it looks like on a model. Apparently they also do free alterations. After that... all I can say is supportive staff did not seem to be working in the shop the day we were there. There were at least 4 people there working... and we felt we were getting pushed around, our opinions were not taken into high regard, and in fact, we were told our opinions were wrong. Ummm... last time I checked, the bridal party is the bunch of people who know the bride the best, not some random person who works in a shop. The poor bride felt pressured into saying things that she didn't mean or believe because of the sales clerk. She was also pressured into trying on dress silhouettes that she had absolutely no interest in wearing just to appease the sales lady! I can only imagine how some folks might be pressured into buying the wrong dress or unnecessary accessories because they are not strong and confident enough in their own beliefs or ideas to say no and stand up for themselves. The dresses were ultra-traditional, and not to our liking. The prices were fair. The ambiance does not make a bride-to-be feel special or pampered. At the end, the sales lady was trying to talk up how a commitment to the dress has to be made ASAP or the dress from a trunk sale would be gone. This made no sense because the dresses were going to be released soon to the public and the wedding isn't for over a year. All in all, I wouldn't go back. read more

I might post a longer review later but I recently did a virtual bridal appointment with Illian and she was WONDERFUL. She was able to understand my vision for my wedding dress even when I couldn't properly articulate it. I was sent 4 dresses to try on at home for a few per dress that ends up going back to you if you don't find your dress it going toward your dress if you find The One (which I did!!) I had an amazing experience and I highly recommend this shop. I really don't understand the bad reviews that I saw from years ago but they seemed like the customer's issues to me because all the details of contracts are laid out for you in writing and told to you. Also basic alterations are included for every dress over 1K which is so awesome!! I went to Seng Couture in May to pick out a wedding dress for my June 2021 wedding. I found the process was relatively easy, I had to pick out 5 dresses from the website so they can pick them for me to try on. I didn't know that any dress over $1,000 included free alterations so I only picked from the clearance section. It was also difficult to figure out prices because they don't list the prices online for a lot of dresses, but they are so helpful if you call and read them the style numbers of the dresses. When I went in for my appointment Seng herself looked me up and down and saw the dresses I picked and said no no I have the perfect dress for you and she brought me a different dress to try on. That one fit really nicely but was about $1000 more than my price range, which I told her and she went and found another dress which I absolutely loved and was in my price range. I did feel a little pressured on my first visit to purchase a dress, so I ended up leaving and coming back later that week with 5 more dresses picked out to try on, but I ended up picking the one Seng found for me. I can't wait for it to come in so I can see what it looks like on me! Unfortunately it was only available in a size 4 sizes bigger than my size (street size 16, wedding size 20, and dress I tried on was a size 28) and it takes 8 months for it to come in but luckily I had enough time. read more

I am getting married and based off of the store's excellent reviews I decided to give them a chance. We actually went during COVID and the store had a temperature check and asked us to wear masks. They made sure we had our own sales/stylist who was great and proved she was capable of handling all 3 bridesmaids at once. All three bridesmaids tried on a size 12 and that size fit all three of them perfectly. As soon as the measurements were taken and the dress was ordered, this is when the problems began. What I am confused about is all three ladies were measured from head to toe and all of their dresses came back a little long, and a little snug. I'm confused why they were even measured in the first place if the measurements that were taken were not accurate. I am also confused why a store like this does not have a seamstress at the stor. All though the store's customer service was excellent, I was a little disappointed that my bridesmaids (all from out of town) had to take their dresses to an independent seamstress to be altered. I thought that because they were measured, their dresses fit should have been an exact fit. I also choose not to believe that all 3 of them shrunk a few inches in height and they ALL gained weight. With all that I have to worry about before my big day, didn't expect this to be one of them. read more

We had to have the entire gown taken apart by a seamstress who knew what she was doing. The bustle they made was horrific. They wanted to do the least they could to get her out of the store! The customer service was absolutely horrible from start to finish! As soon as you walk in the place, Noons. Ones up to you and greets you professionally, they stand at the desk and stare at you like your walking into a regular retail store, not a bridal shop! The lady I had scared the absolute shit out of me telling me "Your not gonna find a dresss anywhere else in 7 months by your wedding date because dresses take 8-10 months to be shipped out. Telling me "you order from here though, it will still take 8-10 month but don't worry you'll get it on time" I said my wedding is less than 7 months away! It's that time of year again... Finding a prom dress can be a nightmare.. We looked for months and couldn't find anything until I discovered Seng Couture Bridal/prom shop in Fanwood... There are actually two stores one next to the other.. One for special occasions/ prom dresses..The other for the bride to be... The minute I walked in the door I was greeted by a friendly staff and my daughter was given one on one attention... The staff was extremely helpful in finding the right prom dress for my daughter. ( Did I mention she's 6'1 and a size 2?)This is no easy task because some gowns are too short and others too wide.... ...The first thing we were asked is if we had a style, and price point ... This was very helpful because I've found in the past you'll grab a bunch of gowns and after trying them on only to find out their out of your price range..... Seng Couture uses a basic sample size on some dresses and on others their sized to order...They can order a multitude of sizes and they know if the dress will or will not be available in advance.... One of the staff showed my daughter to the dressing room and helped her put on each of the gowns... She also helped her fasten and zip each one up, and take off the dress.We really were given great service...We found the perfect dress... I liked that if the dress needed to be altered it was free! The best part is we took the dress home on the spot and didn't have to wait for it to be shipped. That was a savings... The prices of the dresses are very competitive ... It is a boutique so their dresses can get a little pricey, but between the selection and one on one service it was well worth it... I found it's always good to go in with an idea of what your looking for... Seng has a very nice selection of short dresses, long dresses, mother of the bride, bridal party and accessories of all kinds...They also carry an array of styles... Where should I begin? I don't know if it's just me but a dressing fitting is supposed to be fun experience and a time to remember, well this was one dress fitting I wish I could forget. On the day we arrived for our dress appointment there was 6 of us in attendance and we had an appointment. We were not greeted as we felt we should have been, we were given 4 seats and told, no beverages and no photos can be taken. Bummer as that was the first sign of buzz kill! Since this dress shop was chosen by the bride we made it work. We had to first look through numerous dresses to find about three dresses that were similar to what the bride had in mind for us. The assistant looked annoyed to help us with this process and we felt rushed. Now for trying on our dresses, we had been switching between dresses at least three times because as bridesmaids we wanted to look our best and wanted to please the bride. Our assistant once again seemed annoyed so they sent someone else to assist her. We finally chose our dresses and were measured. After we confirmed we would pay for our dresses then we were allowed to take a photo! We had our alterations appointment this past Monday, February 19, 2018 and it by far was the worst experience. We were not greeted pleasantly instead we were told they were busy. They asked for me immediately and only pulled my dress to be fitted, we had to let them know that we were a group and had an appointment. After that they gave us seats and then it was all of us waiting to try on our dresses one at a time since we only had one room. After my cousins tried in their dresses it came my turn, they did not offer me any assistance and instead told me to let hem know when I was done. They reason being, when my cousin went to try on her dress the assistant seemed very uninterested in helping her adjust her dress and make suggestions as to what would look nice on her. Instead she kept giving us back and forth as to why they do the alterations the way they do, seeing my cousin unhappy we voiced our concerns. Finally they took our suggestions and went to price out her alterations, a whopping $175 after the dress cost $180???? We were all in shock and decided we would not being do our alterations there. In all fairness they should have just given us a marked up price that included the alterations instead of basically selling us another dress. Her alterations were minor, hem, slit and back hem, I could only imagine what mine would have cost, since I'm expecting and I'm 4'9! I hope this review helps and helps them treat all their clients fair, equal and not rushed. read more

I would highly recommend. The staff is professional, helpful, and truly cares about finding you everything you've been dreaming of! I'm not quite sure I understand some of the less-than-stellar reviews here, especially if you look at their 1000+ reviews on The Knot I worked with Hilda who has 18 years of experience and was absolutely excellent, and did not give her opinions until the very end after I made a decision - and amazingly it matched mine. When the owner herself walked out and gasped when she saw me, I knew I had the winner! Advantages of purchasing at Seng: - they will price match even AFTER purchase - basic alterations included (bust-waist-hip seams, basic hem, bustle, steaming, garment bag) that will normally set you back $400+ at other bridal salons/boutiques - huge selection, many designers, huge variety in price points. There is a dress for everyone! - for plus-sized brides you will have plenty of samples to try on! I think this is difficult to find in some salons Cons: - None yet. Based on previous reviews, alterations may be a problem so I am PRAYING that this will not be an issue. However, in the designer I purchased I know my size which is pretty close so hopefully not much needs to be done in terms of alterations. Will update review if the alterations are not up to par... :-( read more

My first impression when we came to look for bridesmaids dresses was questionable. We wanted to make this a fun, happy and memorable experience. That was squashed right away, first by the small size of the shop. Worst yet we were not allowed to sip the champagne we brought, nor take any photos at all, and we were given the bums rush to pick our dresses. The consultant appeared to be very young and inexperienced, which left us looking for our own dresses to pick out. They got annoyed because we kept trying on different dresses looking for the same color, designer and material. Once we purchased the dresses then and only then were we allowed to take a pictures. We made the best of it and were fitted by the seamstress who gave us the sizes on our orders. Our fitting appointment was the WORST experience I have EVER had in my LIFE. It started when we walked through the door. We were greeted with "we are very busy and you will have to wait". We didn't walk off the street! We had a scheduled appoIntment. We could have been told, "please wait we will be right with you. We are running a little behind." RUDENESS! Then we tried on our dresses and they were ALL too big. Why? when we were measured and told to order a different size then the dresses we tried on(which fit)? Scam to get extra money for tailoring! They actually had the audacity to quote us an alteration fee equal to the cost of the dress. When we refused they charged us $25 for chalking the hem which was totally uneven. The faux seamstress that they gave us made so many basic bad alteration measurement, that we decided to get the dresses altered somewhere else. That didn't sit to well with them. My dress "the mother of the bride" was "surprise" too big also. The amount of alterations needed to be made would lose half the intricate detail of the entire dress. I told them that the display size fit better and ask to try that one on again. To show them how they fitted me for the wrong size. To which the inexperienced faux- seamstress said she could not take it off the sales floor because someone might want to try it on.. Finally after much ado on my part the real seamstress came and told her there was no way she could alter the dress and keep the intricate detail. That was when I guess the manger/ owner told her to get the floor sample. For the sake of my daughter, I did not insist that they provide a resolution, instead, I took the floor sample. They offered to add the missing beads, which I had to wait for. Never offered a discount for taking the floor model or an apology for all the errors on their part. I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy to this place. They were curt, rude and totally dismissive. No customer service what so ever. They really should think about hiring more experienced customer service oriented people instead of family members. Don't let this place ruined a very special moment for you. Go somewhere were you will be treated as a paying customer should on your special occasion. read more

I had a great experience dress shopping for my wedding dress and my mom's dress. Unfortunately, my fiance decided he did not want to get married. He ended the relationship and we had to cancel our wedding. Seng Couture, was not understanding and sympathetic towards us. My mom dress and my mom's dress were not even altered. They wanted the dresses out of the store and told us to sell it on Facebook market place. It is tragic that my wedding was canceled, and my engagement ended. I would think they would be more understanding. I had more sympathy from my wedding venue and other vendors. I do not recommend them. Ok so I decided to make an appointment at Seng after a day of bridal gown shopping in NYC with a friend fell through. I decided to just go by myself as this is a second wedding for me, I have no bridesmaids and my sisters don't live close by. I know most people would be put off by going to dress shop alone but I was looking forward to it - just being able to try on dresses I like without having anyone push some ugly taffeta ballgown on me! I arrived and although my appointment was with Patricia, Illian assisted me. I showed her some photos of dresses that had caught my eye so she got a general idea of what I was going for. She went on her way to go see what would work and I was also free to peruse the racks. What I truly liked about the salon is every garment bag has a photo of the dress in the front of it, so you can see what the dress looks like without having to guess if you'll like it or not. There are all kinds of dresses with price points and I saw dresses that went from $700 all the way up to $5000. A good majority of the dresses that I pulled I found to be very reasonably priced and well within my budget. Illian and I had about 9 dresses that we pulled and we tried on each and every one of them. Some were nice, some were not me, some wowed and others were meh. But I did get it down to 2 dresses which were in contention. I walked into Seng Couture not really thinking that I would buy a dress. It was a whim appointment and now here I was wearing a dress that I was in love with. So I did it - purchased a beautiful Kitty Chen gown. Everyone at Seng was great. Seng herself is such a doll and a family business that makes you feel as if you are part of the family too. Illian was fantastic, the dress I purchased was one she pulled for me and it was like having a sister there at the appointment - made it an awesome experience for me. I purchased my Mori Lee wedding Gown at Seng Couture. When I came (8months) before the wedding to order it, they scolded me for coming so late, they were right! Apparently the gown takes around 5-6 months to arrive! The good thing is that when it arrived they were very efficient! Called me right away for a fitting and once I tried it on they were hands on it! Because it was ready in less than 2 weeks! They did the alterations and hem! Every single detail they took into account as the straps of my bra, etc! I'm a little surprised at the negative reviews, but I think some people have different expectations for wedding dress shopping. My experience was nothing but positive from the moment I made the appointment. They called me shortly after to tell me that my mom's appointment for mother of the bride dress and my appointment overlapped,so we wouldn't be able to see each other the whole time(wedding dresses are next door to bridesmaids/other dresses. I already knew this and the layout of the store since I've been here recently as a bridesmaid..and I actually planned that on purpose so that my parents didn't have to be there the whole time(I had my MOH with me), BUT it was so nice of them to call and point that out. I also sent them a few emails before my appointment, indicating the dresses I was interested in trying on. They got back to me very quickly and told me which ones they had in store. As soon as we walked in, I was greeted by someone at the front desk . I checked in and was given a thorough explanation of the process and layout of the wedding dresses in store including designers,etc.. They first have you look through the racks yourself. There are pictures on the clear bags that the dresses are in so that you can see what it looks like. These pictures also happen to match the pictures on the website. I showed pictures of the style I had in mind and everyone was very helpful to help me find dresses to try on along with my MOH. My appointment was with Hilda.I tried on at least 10 dresses and she was just amazing. I felt so comfortable with her and she made getting in and out of each dress quick and fun! She even helped me through my process of elimination. I fell in love with the first dress I tried on which happened to be one of the first dresses I saved in my research and requested to try on through email. With the other dresses Hilda kept asking me: do you like it as much as the first one or even more than the first one? We only put aside the ones that I could answer yes to. If it wasn't for her, I would've taken a long time to narrow down my choices, but with that in mind, I narrowed it down to 2(and ended up going with the first one). Unlike the other reviews,my MOH was allowed to take pics of me(but I asked in advance if an employee could take pics of me on their own phone),so not sure if they changed their policy. This isn't a bridal salon where they serve you champagne, but that's no big deal to me because we celebrated afterwards. As a bride, I think it would be tremendously helpful if you do your research and get an idea of what styles you are interested in. I had a very specific style in mind,spent time browsing different designers,and browsed the Seng Couture website. Sharing this awful experience in hopes that it helps someone else! I am in a wedding this August and needed to purchase a Bill Levkoff bridesmaid dress. In February, I went to Seng Couture and was fitted for a dress. They measured me at a size 0, which I was hesitant about, because I knew that my friend ordered a size 2, and we are typically comparable sizes. I asked the associate repeatedly if she was sure... because I noticed that some of my measurements were measuring at the 2 level. She said every dress is different and that I should listen to her, or else I'd end up paying more money to take it in. I assumed this is her job and she knows what she's talking about, so I listened to her. When I went to pick up the dress in early June, I was horrified when I saw it on the hanger - it looked so small! When I tried it on, it was obviously too small - difficult to zip and very tight around my lower body - NOT the intended style. I had lost about five pounds since the winter when I initially ordered the dress, so I was not expecting this. Clearly, they ordered the wrong size, and I was obviously upset. After a little deliberation, the staff tried to convince me that they did this on purpose - that they ordered it so it would be more fitted on top and could take it up from the waist to shorten it and release the bottom - this all seemed very curious, but I agreed to let them do the alterations at $65 additional to the $200 I paid for the dress. Today, I came back to pick it up - the alterations were horrifying... they took it up from the shoulder putting the waist in the wrong place, tight under my arm pit - all just an incredibly wrong job, and still too tight! The seamstress (who I was later told was also the manager?) said "give me 20 minutes" and took the dress in the back for closer to an hour as I waited alone in the dressing room. Finally she returned and nothing was better (I don't know how it could have been!). I explained that the wedding was in a month and there was no way I could wear this dress! What could I do! I asked for a refund and was refused. She tried to argue with me that I must have gained weight - untrue and grasping at straws. The entire conversation was pointless and insulting. I have few options now... I probably could have salvaged it with a decent seamstress if I hadn't let them touch it to begin with. Now I'm out hundreds of dollars and with no dress to wear to my best friends wedding .- needless to say, this place has caused a crisis. I'll also note that I had my bridesmaids purchase their dresses for my wedding last summer at Seng Couture as well - so I have brought them lots of business, and they were still completely unwilling to help me. They measured/ordered one of my bridesmaids a dress that was 4 sizes too big for her, and she spent hundreds having the dress reconstructed. Another bridesmaid received a different (although similar) dress than she ordered - it was too close to the wedding to complain at that point. I guess it serves me right giving Seng Couture another chance after that - I should have known better. What's so insulting is that they couldn't just admit fault and try to make it right with a refund, as they have clearly caused a significant problem for me. I asked repeatedly to speak with an owner, and the sales associates brushed me off saying "I'll have to see if they're around" or "Oh no, they're not available." Absolutely LOVED my experience at Seng Couture! I worked with Theresa in finding my dream wedding dress and she was amazing! The whole process from start to finish was professional and caring. I like that prior to going to your appointment, you select a few styles you would be interested in trying on so that way they have an idea of what to select. Seng Couture has an amazing selection of designers and inventory. You're more than welcome to try on any designer and styles you want! I wasn't shy about trying on everything until I found my dream dress by Martina Liana. They also include basic alterations if you spend a certain amount which is helpful. I also got my veil here, too. I loved my shopping experience, as well as all my fittings. They took precautionary measures such as enforcing masks inside, temperature checks, and using hand sanitizer. Also, there's ample amount of parking in the back parking lot. My suggestion to all brides to be, don't be afraid to try on a variety of dresses because you never know what you'll love until you see yourself in it AND you won't regret shopping at Seng! read more

I read such good reviews on Facebook, so I was excited to visit Seng Couture. Unfortunately, our experience did not match those reviewers. We waited 20 minutes past our appointment time to be shown to a bridal fitting room, and then (due to the convoluted layout of the store) it took 10 minutes to pull just a few dresses. So we had been there over a half-hour before the first try on. The bridal consultant disappeared after the first dress, and another consultant named Hilda introduced herself while we were by the mirror. Hilda seemed very nice, but then she disappeared after a couple more try-ons and another consultant appeared. I never got an explanation as to why I had a revolving door of service, but I got the impression that the consultants were helping more than one bride at a time. Also, every time I returned to the room to try on the next dress, I had to stand around and wait for the bridal attendant to return to assist. It can't be that I caught them on a "bad day", since I see a 5-star review posted for the very same day that I was there. At least they have a lot of dresses in stock, so I wouldn't say it was a waste of time. It's just so sad that it was not a positive experience. read more

The day I found my dress, it was great. After that? It became the worst part of my wedding planning process. I paid $140 for rush shipping and was quoted a window of arrival and it ended up arriving later than the quoted window. My maid of honors dress was 4 sizes too small and I lost a bridesmaid because her dress was 3 sizes too small so that was $200 down the drain, on top of all the expenses I paid for hair, makeup, nails and gifts for her to be in my wedding. When I went to pick up the dresses, I was told that it was only the bridesmaids who were the ones who could pick them up. I found it odd because I paid for the dresses as part of my gift to them. Eventually, they let me take the dresses. I drove 2.5 hours several times for all of this. There was a male employee who rudely addressed an issue I had with the veil I had on order. My dress alterations were poor. I had a big saggy part on my stomach area that was highly noticeable. I've got burns and bruises on my sides from the boning in my dress that was exposed from not being sewn properly. After seeing my wedding pictures, I cried. I did not feel like the beautiful bride that every woman says they feel like and it's been a headache. However, the show went on. I got married and it is what it is. It's unfortunate that this was my experience as I skipped out on all the bridal salons near me and traveled far for this. read more
