This photo makes him look gruff, he is the complete opposite and truly a teddy bear, a very, very nice person. Previously, I had an appointment with another Sentara Cardiologist who wiped me off the My Chart for an appt in Jan. 19th, 2026, he had something else to do per Nurse Rachett, then offered to reschedule me for end of May or June. I'd love to tell you his name but, his office conveyed a complete disregard for the patient. I waited for that appt since August 2025. After this experience my husband was quite upset. My inital problem was discovered during a colonoscopy, when I started to A-FIB, this was Mar 2025. Now I was scheduled with Dr. Grammes in Feb 2026 and he was willing to listen, answer my questions, and put me at ease about my procedure. Prompt for appt time, pleasant office staff as well as nursing staff. My procedure, hopefully will be scheduled soon but so far, he and his office staff deserve 5 stars. Will advise after procedure. I had an early appointment so the parking lot wasn't as packed as it can be at later times during the day. When i entered i was promptly greeted by 2 nice employees who were upbeat and friendly, and i was checked in. The process was quick and went smoothly. I saw a new Doctor today, Dr Banks and his P.A. . The P.A does most of the appointment and the doctor comes in with a plan of treatment afterwards. They were both very nice and thorough in their observations. They also did an EKG which took less than 5 minutes. The office was clean and the staff was polite. When i checked out there was no wait and the receptionist printed everything we spoke about after the visit and scheduled my followups. This visit went very smoothly and i like this location. If your looking for a Cardiologist, this location is a good pick. 4 stars!!!

I've never liked having testing at this hospital. The Check In line has always been really long…read more The waiting area is not socially distanced. I've had the registration deck change the order of my tests, making me late and almost miss some of the prescheduled tests. So when one of my specialists scheduled an Echocardiogram at Beach General I tried to get her to switch to another hospital. Much to my dismay all other hospitals were booked beyond my appointment with the doctor. How surprised I was when I read the check in instructions (at the last minute of course) and saw that I was to enter via the hospital's main entrance. Upon arrival I asked at the desk where the heart check in was located. I walked, per instructions, down the hall just behind the desk & found that they had recently built a Heart Center across from the gift shop. It was an extremely short walk. Check-in & Registration were a breeze, staffed with friendly personnel. There was a small waiting room. That day spillover had to sit at the tables in the main entrance hall. The waiting room needs to be larger. But I'm not sure where it's located that is feasible. I had no idea how extensive their Heart Center was until I was called & followed an employee further down the hall to wait in the Cardiac Cath waiting area. I observed two Cardiac Cath doors in addition to the room where my Echo would be. I had to wait a long time in that seating area because of some sort of emergency. It was uncomfortable & tiring. But that type of thing isn't unexpected in a Heart Center. I kept seeing a doctor in scrubs going back & forth between a Cath Lab & the door I would eventually be taken through. When I was called I was surprised to see how large the testing area was. There were lots of technicians & a nursing station. I eventually learned that the area must completely wrap around from the waiting room to the area where I was tested and beyond. My driver that day relayed that during her waiting room stay doctors had come into that area & told family members that their loved one had done fine. I'm really not sure what that area contains in addition to Cath Labs & testing. In my testing room the technician was very thorough & professional. Upon exiting the room following the test I learned that she must have been in charge. Other personnel were asking her how to handle an unexpected patient. My results came through very quickly on MyChart. I've since learned from other testing that results are prioritized for some Sentara Cardiologists. Much to my dismay what I saw was that the results were significantly worse than the Echo the previous year. When I saw the doctor he eased my mind. Showing the pictures adjacency he told me that the pictures from this Echo were far superior to those a year ago & aligned with my last Cardiac Cath. Never would I hesitate to return to the Sentara Heart Center for testing. The technician who performed my Echo was obviously excellent. That said, should I ever require another Cardiac Cath I want the procedure to be done at the Sentara Heart Hospital.

My Pulmonologist was convinced my shortness of breath was more severe than it should be with my ILD. I've been with the practice since. The practice is located in the Fort Norfolk Medical Building in the portion of Sentara Norfolk General's complex that is located on the south side of Brambleton opposite the main hospital campus. The location is perfect for patients coming from the north side of Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth & the northern part of Suffolk. The building is one I love because of its attached parking garage. Parking is so easy even if the handicapped spots are full. It's also picturesque since there's a beautiful view of the Elizabeth River from the deck. Walk straight into a glass enclosed area where the elevators & seating is located. The building even has a Sentara Advanced Imaging Center. So Cardiology can send me straight up a floor if they order Bloodwork. The knowledge & care of Dr. Robertson & my current PA are extensive. I feel well cared for. The office staff is pleasant & helping. A downside is difficulty in appointment availability, which currently appears to be the case with all the good Sentara physicians. There is an issue with messaging through MyChart being screened before (or if) being sent to my Cardiologist or PA. The current screening person, as did the last, answers with her own opinions (not knowing my history) without sending messages to my PA on updates that the PA wanted. This is a big problem. I've told my PA, who instructed her that my messages to be sent to her. But it still isn't happening. That said, the Sentara Cardiologist department is the practice of choice for those of us who have multiple, sometimes conflicting, issues.
